Better Together: Part 26
Sorry this isnt very good. Im running out of ideas. Enjoy if you can. Dedicated to Michael, Richard and Darren. -Sarah Me: (speechless) wo that took me by surprise... Stephen: please...i love you...i always have and i know its horrible to say but i dreamed about the day you and him divorced... Me: well Stephen...to be honest i dont think im ready for dating yet... Stephen: well (handing me his card) call me when you are... Its been a week since Stephens surprise visit and im back home waiting on Michael to bring the boys over. Its going to be the first time i see Michael since i moved out just after the divorce because he always has someone come over for him to collect the kids. I tidied up the house a bit and myself. I wanted to show him that i was doing well despite not being with him. I was fixing my hair when i heard the doorbell. I walked to the door, took a deep breath and opened the door. Richie and JD ran and hugged me. I havenâ??t seen them in so long. Michael stood there looking a bit shy, it was weird because i havenâ??t seen him being shy before. Me: hi Michael...come in... JD: yeah dad come in Michael: are you sure? Me: yes im sure...come in... Michael came in and almost automatically loosened up. He sat down at the kitchen counter while the boys played in the living room. Me: coffee? Michael: emm yes please... Me: so how is everything? Michael: great...how about you? Me: good i guess... Michael: (pausing) so have you been dating? Me: (smiling) not yet...lets just say im not very lucky in that area...howâ??s Lisa? Michael: sheâ??s good...(looking at something on the counter) hey whoâ??s Stephen? Me: huh? (seeing the card) oh emm a friend... Michael: a friend who â??loves and misses you very muchâ? (smiling) Me: he wrote that? I didnâ??t even look (turning away) Michael: wait a minute...Stephen? the guy you were with before me? Me: yeah...i went back to my parents and he called over... Michael: Sarah please tell me your not gonna call him? Me: i might...why? Michael: because he hurt you... Me: so? People change...like you changed towards me! Michael: oh dont start this...(standing up) why cant you see heâ??s gonna hurt you... Me: you dont know that!! Heâ??s a nice guy and he has changed...ill prove it (grabbing the card) Michael: oh dont be stupid Sarah...he hasnâ??t changed...heâ??s just trying to show you he has so youâ??ll take him back and heâ??ll treat you the same way...and besides he lives in Ireland...how would you date him? Me: maybe ill move home... Michael: (face dropping) wait...you cant...your job is here and the kids? Me: what about the kids...they can come with me... Michael: then ill never see them... Me: well maybe you should have thought of that before divorcing me (walking into the living room) Michael: (walking after me) excuse me...we were hardly going to stay together when we clearly didnâ??t love each other!! Me: (stopping) i loved you Michael!! Michael: (silent) Me: just get out and go back to Lisa...im not fighting you anymore... Michael walked out with his head down. He always thought i fell out of love with him like he did with me. I sat down beside the now quiet kids from witnessing their parents fighting. I started to silently cry because nothing seemed to work out how i wanted it. Richie noticed me crying and told JD to go to his room. Richie: mom...are you ok? Me: yeah (wiping my eyes) im fine... Richie: (sighing) dad hurt you huh... Me: no no...he didnâ??t know how i felt..it was my own fault... Richie: dad gets sad too you know... Me: of course he does...heâ??s just like everyone else.. Richie: no when he thinks about you...he sits down and i can see the change in his face, when i ask whatâ??s wrong he says im just thinking about your mom... Me: he does? Richie: yeah...and its a certain face he makes when i know heâ??s thinking about you...even when he hugs Lisa or anything i can see heâ??s thinking about you... Me: (smiling) well you know what...your just like your dad...you really know how to make me feel better... Richie: (smiling) im the man of the house its my job... Its been a year and iv been dating someone for 9 months. Not just someone but Michaelâ??s brother, Randy. Michael took it as well as we could imagine and the kids are a little confused because Randy is there uncle and dont know what to think, but then again they always loved Randy so it made it slightly easier. The Jackson family are relatively happy about this probably because Michael seems to be. We started dating after Michaelâ??s birthday. I never really thought of Randy in that way but he changed a lot since Michael and i split. He became more charming and chatty. He asked me out to dinner and now here we are 9 months later still dating. I have to say he is very much like his brother which is good and bad. It is good because he is sweet and caring like him but then again itâ??s not good because i think about Michael a lot when im with him. I finally felt like my life was going somewhere and i was happy again until i got a phone call that i didnâ??t expect to get so soon. To be continued...
