I Still Love You (2): The Truth
_________________ *Ka'Tya's POV* I called to set my appointment and surprisingly I was told that I could go to the group home today. I'm so excited! I walked down the street looking for Jane. I hadn't seen her all day. I kept walking until I spotted her sitting against a building. Her eyes were blood red...she must be high. I sat next to her. "Hey, I made my appointment today..", I said looking at her. She smiled. "Good...I..I thought I was gonna have to call and make the appointment myself..", she laughed. "Well my first appointment is today...I'm gonna miss you, I wish you would've made an appointment too", I said lowly. "Unlike you, the streets is honestly all I have...if I were to leave here, I'd just be doing a total 360. This is my life", she said with a small laugh. I hugged her really tight. "I hope you change your mind and call...I want you to get better too", I said wiping a tear away. "Don't cry. I'll think about it alright. Now go, you don't wanna be late", she said. I got up and turned to her. "Bye.. Hopefully I'll see you soon." "Bye hun, don't worry about me..I'll be fine", she smiled. I walked to the bus stop and a bus had pulled up. I turned and waved to Jane, she waved back. I got on the bus and sighed. First step to recovery... I'm ready. *Michael's POV* I walked back into the house and Lisa was gone. Hm, I'm not surprised. It's 2:45, Gia should be back home from school any moment. I paced back and forth until I heard the door open. "Umm, are you alright dad?", she asked. I was silent for a minute. "Yes, um, sit down I need to talk to you", I sat down on the couch and waited for her to sit down. "What's going on? If it's about me sneaking out the other night I can totally explain that", she said raising her hands in defense. I was about to start taking until I realized what she had said. "You did what?!", I asked sternly. "Huh?", she responded acting confused. Teenagers... "I'll deal with that later. Right now I got something important to talk you about. It's your mother...", I said. "What about her?", she asked. "I just think it's time we talk about her. You're at the age where I think you'll understand the truth of what happened with your mother and I", I said. She finally sat down. "The truth? What do you mean?", she asked. I took a deep breath. "Your mom isn't really a secret woman I met while ago on tour and she does not live in another country", I said. "Then who is she? Where is she?", she asked. "Her name is Ka'Tya Mavré and honestly I don't where she is... that's what I want to explain to you. Your mother and I were childhood friends and we started dating at 18. Your mother had you at 19 and about a month after your birth there was an incident between us. She just left and never came back but she does write me sometimes.." Gia cut me off. "Hold on my mother writes you and you never told me...? Why?", she asked softly. "Hold on. I didn't tell you because she told me not to until today. She sent this letter basically telling me to have this talk with you", I said grabbing her hand. "Have you secretly gone to see her too? What else is there to know? I know there's more", she said letting out a small laugh of frustration. "No, I haven't seen her. I honestly don't know where she is exactly but I do know that she's on drugs right now and that's the only reason she hasn't come back. She didn't want you to see her like that. But she honestly loves you. Every time she writes me, it's about you", I said. Gia let out another laugh of frustration and was looking up at the ceiling. "My mother is on drugs, she writes you, and is just now wanting me to know about her...but she supposedly loves me", she said with anger in her voice as she removed her hand from my grasp. "Gia, please just understand...", I say sadly. She was still looking up at the ceiling. "Understand what? That my junkie of a mother so called loves me and now all of a sudden I'm suppose to care about her? Y'all can't be serious", she said. Her hands were clasped together on her legs as they shook profusely. She finally looked down and over at me. Her face red and tear stained. She shook her head at me. "16 years dad...16 years you kept this from me. I'm 17 and just now finding out who my mother is...", she said staring at me with sadness and anger in her eyes. "Gia, I'm sorry", I said crying a little. She stood up walking towards the door. "Where are you going?", I asked lowly. She turned to me. "16 years..." That's all she said and she disappeared out the door. I wanted to go after her but I knew there wasn't anything I could do. I walked up to my room and just cried. I should've told her years ago. I didn't mean to hurt her... Just like I didn't mean to hurt her mother. God, what have I done? *Gia's POV* I wiped my tears away and got into my car and pulled off. 16 years was all I could think the entire drive. I decided to go to my aunt Janet's home in Malibu. The 2 hour drive gave me some time to cool down but I'm still upset. I'll stay with her for a couple days. I finally got there and pulled onto the property. I parked my car and walked up to the gate. "Hey Mr. Williamson", I said approaching the gates. Mr. Williamson is the guard here, he's really cool. "Little Gia. You drive now?", he asked smiling. I nodded. "Yep, sure do." He turned to the speaker and dialed for Janet. "Hello", I could hear her say. "Ms. Jackson you have company", he said. "Who is it?", she asked. "Gia", he responded. There was a pause. "Let her in", she said. I waved at Mr. Williamson as I walked over to her large beach house. I spotted her standing on the porch. I wakes up to her and hugged her tightly. I let go and stepped back. "Can I live with you?" I asked with a pouty face. "Come in, and we'll talk", she said. I walked into the house and she followed behind. She locked the door and turned to me. "I talked to Michael. I know why you're here", she said softly. "Great so can I live with you?", I asked eagerly. She sighed and sat down next to me. "How did you even get here?", she asked. "I, um..I drove", I said quickly. Her eyes widened. "You drove? You know you can't drive alone yet", she said concerned. "I know", I said nonchalantly. "Then why'd you do it? That was a 2 hour drive, if you would've got caught you could've been in so much trouble", she said a little louder. "Ok, I'm sorry. I just needed to get away and I knew coming here would be perfect", I said. She shook her head. "Gia, you can not stay here. You need to go back and talk to your father", she said. "I'll go back tomorrow..just let me stay the night until I calm down", I suggest. "Fine, you can stay but only for tonight", she says. "Yes! I love you auntie Jan", I say hugging her again. "Yeah, yeah I love you too kid" she said hugging me back. *Janet's POV* | Later that night... | Poor girl, if only she understood. I better call Michael before he goes crazy. I dialed his number and waited for him to answer. "Hello?", he answered. "Hey, you sound exhausted", I said. "I am, Dunk. I'm so tired and worried to death...", he said lowly. "Don't worry. She's been over here with me for the past few hours", I said. "What?! Why didn't you tell me earlier?", he asked annoyed. "We got to talking and it slipped my mind. Sorry, Mike", I said. "It's fine... I just want her back home", he said sadly. "I already told her she has to go back to you tomorrow. But I told you this would happen Mike... it's gonna take a while for her to forgive you", I said while picking up my nail polish. "Janet, I already heard the I told you so's from Lisa and I don't need it again", he responded sternly. "Alright, I'll say no more about it", I said. "Another thing has been bugging me all day too. Before I even brought up her mother, Gia had thought she was in trouble for sneaking out a few nights ago... I didn't even know she had done that", he said. "Where do you think she went?", I asked worried. "That's just it. I have no idea where she could've been or who she could've been with. Should I even ask? Or wait until this situation blows over?", he asked. I thought for a second. "This situation is not gonna blow over. Ask her about it tomorrow and if she try's to turn it back around on you, don't go for it", I said. "Ok, thanks Dunk", he said seeming more calm. "No problem. I'll call you tomorrow when she's on her way back", I said climbing into my bed. "Ok. Goodnight", he said. "Goodnight", I said. I put the phone back on the hook and went to sleep. *Gia's POV* | 10:26 a.m. Friday | I woke up, took a shower, brushed my teeth, threw on my sundress that I had left over here last time I was over, and brushed my hair. I didn't plan on staying long, I needed to do some research. I ran downstairs and looked for auntie Jan. I finally found her outside on the patio eating breakfast. "Good morning", I said walking out there. "Good morning GiGi, your food is on the counter inside", she said still eating. "Oh, no thank you I've gotta go now", I said kissing her cheek and rushing back inside towards the door. "Gia!", I heard her yell and I paused. "Yes", I answered. She stood in front of me and crossed her arms with a confused expression. "Where are you rushing off too?", she asked. "I'm just... kinda homesick actually", I lied. She raised her eyebrows. "You really expect me to believe that? Ok Gia I'm not gonna question you but promise me you'll go straight home", she said. I nodded and then hugged her. "I promise. Bye, love you", I said running out. "Love you too! And be careful!", I heard her call out. I finally reached the gate and waited for Mr. Williamson to open it and he finally did. "Bye Mr. Williamson", I said waving. "Goodbye, and be careful out there little girl", he said. "I will, I promise", I responded. *Michael's POV* Right now I'm on the phone with Dunk. "Where is she? You said she left like 3 hours ago", I said worriedly. "Calm down, she promised me that she was going straight home. She's probably just stuck in traffic", she said calmly. "I told you letting her drive was a bad idea..", mumbled Lisa who was sitting beside me. Before I could respond the door opened. "Hey dad...Lisa", she said walking in heading towards the stairs. "Janet I'll call you back", I said hanging up without letting her respond. "Gia we need to talk, right now", I said trying not to sound too upset. She came and sat down in the chair that was right in front of Lisa and I. "Ok. What are we talking about?", she asked. "Yesterday you said that you had snuck out...who were you with? Where were you?", I asked. "I went to a park to meet up with some friends", she responded. "What time was it?", I asked. "About 2 or 3", she said nonchalantly. I shook my head. "What were you all doing out there?", I asked with anger in my voice. "We was just talking and stuff...nothing illegal. What's with the trivia? Was that all? Cause I have some important things to do.", she said without a care. Is she serious? I need to just calm down. Lisa spoke up. "And what business do you have? You're only 17, you have no business." Gia raised an eyebrow. "Actually I do have business and when that business becomes any of your business I'll tell you about it", she said. She definitely has her mothers' sassy mouth. "You can go now Gia", I said. She stood up she walked upstairs. Lisa turned to me. "That girl has a mouth on her. Doesn't it bother you?" I shook my head. "No. She gets it from her mother and there's not much I can do about that. She's never talked to me like that..just you", I said. "Ugh, she's never gonna like me", she said. "You're my girlfriend. She's never gonna like anyone I date but I'm sure she'll warm up to you one day", I said kissing her. *Gia's POV* I pulled out my laptop and went on the web. Ka'Tya Mavré, I typed. Immediately I got results. Michael Jackson's new girlfriend... Michael Jackson's ex-girlfriend Ka'Tya Mavré missing? .... Ka'Tya Mavré (aka Bunny) Club Strawberry... Club Strawberry? That's that strip club... She must work there! I found her! I closed my laptop and ran downstairs. I know exactly where that club is since I ride right by it everyday on my way to school. Dad and Lisa were still sitting in the same spot. I tried to walk out the door without them noticing but of course that didn't work out. *Michael's POV "Where are you going Gia?", I asked. "To the library to do some studying", she said. "If you're going to study, where are the books?", Lisa challenged. Gia had the Are you serious? look on her face. "If I'm going to the library to study, clearly there are specific books that I need to study from in which I don't have here", she said. Lisa was silent. I tried not to laugh. "I'll be going now. See y'all later", she said walking out. I had a goofy look on my face because of my attempt to not laugh. "Did you hear how she talked to me? I-", She stopped mid-sentence and looked at me. "And what are you laughing about?", she asked crossing her arms. "Well you did ask an obvious question", I said giggling. She gave my arm a small punch and I began to laugh. *Gia's POV* I walked a distance until I was completely off the Ranch and now just walking up the street. Eventually I got tired and waved down a cab. I got in and told the man to take me to Papa Jakes Sub Shop which was right across the street from the club. "Aren't you Michael Jackson's daughter?" the man asked. "Possibly", I say staring out the window. "Your father's a great man", he continues. I smile a little. "Thank you, he is." We finally get there, I pay the man and I get out the cab. I waited until he drove off to cross the street. I got to the entrance of the club and there was a guard there. "Excuse me, I need an ID", the tall buff man said. I dug in my purse and pulled out the fake ID. He looked at it and let me in. I knew that thing would come in handy someday. I walked in and it was pretty dark not counting the colorful strobe lights that surround the stages where the dancers were. I was walking around looking for my mother when I bumped into someone. I stumbled backwards but the person caught me. They removed their hand from my back and I looked up at him. He was a tall dark skin guy with dreads, he was dressed like a pimp. He was pretty handsome but too old for me. "I'm so sorry", I said. He smiled. Aw, he has dimples. "It's alright pretty lady. You look very young", he says. I try to walk past him but he steps in front of me. Oh, gosh. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna say a word. Just sit and talk to me", he says taking my hand and guiding me to a table near one of the stages. I try to avoid looking at the dancers. I almost lost focus on why I'm here. So I had to ask. "Do you know a Ka'Tya Mavré?", I ask. Suddenly a smirk appeared on his face. "Ka'Tya... she used to work here for me. One of the best dancers we had", he said biting his lip. "Had? She doesn't work here anymore?", I asked disappointed. "Nope. She left a while ago", he said. I leaned back in my seat. "Dang..", I mumbled. "Who are you?", he asked. "I'm her daughter Gia", I said. A smile spread across his face. "So that's where you get your beauty from..", he said trying to touch my face but I jerked back. "How old are you", he asked. "I'm 17. Do you know where my mom is now?", I asked impatiently. "Mmm...nice and young. I see her out in the streets sometimes...not around here though", he answered. "Alright. Thanks for the info. Your name is?", I ask. He bit his lip. "Tony." "Ok. I gotta go now", I say getting up. "When you see your mom, tell her I said hello and she's welcomed back at anytime", he said. I nodded and walked away. Well, looks like I'm taking another cab. I know she's not out here in rich people land doing whatever she's doing... Ugh, I hope I find her.
