Tough Love Part 41
HEY yâ??all. Heavy stuff in the last part, rite? Well Iâ??ll keep on pushing. Oh, & with this part, sheâ??ll see 3 males sheâ??s already seen before, so thatâ??s sorta how I got this chapterâ??s name :). Hereâ??s PART 41!!!!! ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Chapter 41 Seeing Him Again The drive was about forty minutes. I knew we were probably on the outer skirts of Encino or something like that. Iâ??m not too sure about areas in California. I just go off my instincts. We waited in the car until another, more luxurious car pulled up. â??My father,â? Michael said quietly. We watched as he parked a little away from us, so he had a short distance to walk. As he got closer, Dad got out the car, so I followed and Michael was right behind me. By his stride, I could tell that he had a smile on his face. He stuck his hand out. â??Nice to see you again,â? he said. They shook hands. â??Iâ??ll go get my stuff.â? Dad said without hesitation, so I followed my dad as he got his things out and Michael followed behind me. â??You still like putting the worm on the hook,â? Dad asked with a smile. â??Yep, itâ??s that or that funky meat, which the fish always eat up! And I donâ??t care for the grasshoppers.â? â??Thatâ??s what got your mommaâ??s daddy to admire me.â? â??Why?â? â??You know heâ??s a fisherman!â? â??All day long!â? â??Does he live here?â? Michael asked. â??Boy I wish. He lives in Albany.â? â??What state?â? â??Georgia.â? â??Youâ??re from there, right?â? â??Yup! Canâ??t you tell?â? I asked. â??I donâ??t know,â? he sorta mumbled. â??My dadâ??sâ??Josephâ??is from Arkansas.â? â??Yeah, I remember him telling me that,â? Dad said as he handed Michael something. â??Now, what weâ??re gonna end up getting again?â? Joseph asked. â??Oh, some trout. Gotta get them while you can. Lyric was able to catch only thirteen, once.â? â??Iâ??m not sure. I think that was when me and Let was able to go fishing with Grandaddy.â? â??Either way, she had a good time.â? He said. We wouldnâ??t have a boat or anything. We would just fish on the banks. â??So how do you feel around my son?â? Joseph asked. Just lucky â??ole me! I was standing in between them also! Joseph was to my right, Michael was on my left, and Dad was on Michaelâ??s left. â??Heâ??sâ?¦nice. Heâ??s harmless.â? â??Think heâ??sâ?¦good-looking?â? â??Well Josephâ??â? â??Lyric, whereâ??s your manners?â? â??Clarence, I told her to call me that. But go on.â? I put my line back in the water. We knew we were too close when I did that, so we put more space in between ourselves. â??Every girl on the planet thinks heâ??s something to look at. So, yeah, I mean yes, I KNOW he is. But all of your kids are beautiful. Basically they take after you.â? â??Un-uh.â? â??What you mean?â? â??Everyone else but Michael and maybe Jermaine. They got alotta of their momma in them.â? I seemed to be having NO luck today. All these people fishing today for only TROUT! â??Lyric, are you sure your techniques are fresh?â? Michael asked after he caught two, totaling the amount to four. â??Yeah, Iâ??m sure,â? thought I wasnâ??t. â??Think you could help her?â? Joseph asked. â??Yeah, I could tryâ?¦â? He puts his fishing rod down and steps behind me. Then he mustâ??ve changed his mind. â??Let me see it.â? So he strokes the rod out in the water. He almost had a fish but missed it. â??Sorry about that.â? He says. Dad decided to bring KFC so we had a picnic. As I helped served the food, I heard Michael off to the side with his dad. â??Whereâ??s J. Randy? I thought he would be here.â? â??He had other obligations Michael. If you see the boy not here, then you know he must be doing something else more important. Plus get over it drama queen! You got this babe with you. Get with her Mike!â? â??Joseph, Lyric isnâ??t like that. Do you KNOW what sheâ??s been through?â? â??Nope, but you betta get THROUGH her before someone elseâ??s does.â? Michael stormed off. Before I turned away again, I saw Joseph glare at him in such a way that he wanted to strangle him right there. Michael plopped down beside where I was gonna sit, so I just sat accordingly. This spot had a few picnic tables underneath this shutter. He ate like I havenâ??t really seen him eaten before. â??Michael, I could only WISH you ate my cooking like that!â? â??Sorry Clarence,â? he says with a smile. We did a little more fishing. Finally I was able to contribute four trout. â??Where are we gonna cook these?â? I asked. â??You donâ??t wanna split it up?â? â??No, we could cook it at your house; it doesnâ??t matter. My family sorta likes to eat and it ainâ??t enough for them, so letâ??s at your place.â? â??Oh, okay.â? â??Michael, ride with your father,â? Joseph says. â??Okay Dad,â? he says in an obvious sarcastic tone. â??What ya think of Joseph?â? I asked as I saw them in the rearview mirror. â??Complicated. Generous. Michaelâ??s opposite in many ways. But Michael IS Josephâ??s son is a few.â? â??Like how?â? â??Theyâ??re awkwardness around you. I think heâ??s tryna pressure Michael on you. But if I witness it, Iâ??ll confront him on it. Iâ??m just trying get my facts straight first.â? Michael didnâ??t really want to stay in the house while his father was there. Joseph didnâ??t seem arrogant about our house compared to his mansion, so I was relieved. I was helping out until up to the time I saw Michael walking out the house. I didnâ??t know where he was going, so I washed my hands off from the fish batter and followed him. He was sitting out on the steps while looking down. â??Hate your father that much?â? I asked as I sat down. â??Canâ??t you tell?â? he mumbled. â??Sometimes he can be such anâ?¦anâ?¦donkey! Heâ??s a DONKEY!â? â??How are you with your mother?â? â??OH were closer than close! Weâ??re closer than the most! I can share with her my troubles with you.â? â??Are there many troubles with me anymore?â? â??No, just that you must beâ?¦.â? He trailed off. â??What?â? â??FALLING for me,â? then he grins and leans over to kiss my nose. Michael playfully taps it. â??I LOVE you face.â? He whispers. I look down then â??cause I felt a little uncomfortable. â??Itâ??s so full,â? I mumbled. â??Whatâ??s so full?â? â??My FACE! Itâ??s so smashed in together, I feel. Some people says itâ??s really cute, but itâ??s so DIFFERENT! Why canâ??t it be like everyone elseâ??s?â? â??How do you think I feel?â? â??What you mean? Michael, the reason why so many girls scream over your face is because youâ??re so different than your brothers. Your eyes are bigger. Itâ??s just something about them. I mean, yâ??all favor each other; if not personality-wise. Either way, youâ??re no outsider in a bad way.â? â??Lyricâ?¦â? â??Yes?â? â??I wish I knew you when I was younger.â? â??Why?â? â??Because you wouldâ??ve been my girlfriend.â? He gets up to go in the house. Then he turns back around. â??I woulda asked you right here on these steps to be my girl.â? I shot up. â??Then why wonâ??t you ask me now?â? â??You wouldnâ??t want me.â? â??Why, Michael?â? â??Because everyone else wants me to want you.â? â??But?â? â??Well,â? he looks down at the ground. â??My mother is a little hesitant. Thatâ??s what we talked about that Sunday when Shaun came over here for dinner and I spent time with Mother. I mean youâ??re coolâ?¦.â? â??But?â? He bites his lip. â??Iâ??m no goodâ?¦my life is too unstableâ?¦my family isnâ??t even as â??perfectâ?? as it seems. THATâ??S why.â? â??But Michaelâ??â? He leaves me out there by myself. â??Neither is mine.â? I finished. After a few more minutes, I was sitting on the right end of the couch. Michael was on the left end, and Dad was sitting on his end, so Joseph was on my end. â??Kids, why arenâ??t you saying anything?â? Joseph asked. After a moment I responded, â??Because Iâ??m not what some people would say â??perfectâ??.â? When Joseph left, I think we could feel Michaelâ??s relief again. Sonny was being released from the hospital today, but he knew a few people would be at his home. Though the atmosphere was a little serious, it was a sunny Sundayâ??and I felt in better spirits after Dad and I went to church today. No Michael. I guess because of his own religion. But it was his decision to come to Sonnyâ??s house for the celebration of his release. Mainly it was older people and his and Aprilâ??s family there, so I didnâ??t say much. But for their small house, people were cramped in and some were standingâ??including me and Michael. The only way both of us would have had a seat to sit in is if I was on Michaelâ??s lap as he secured a sofa. THAT didnâ??t happen, but as we stood along the wall, he found my hand. I looked at him and remembered what he said, so I slipped it awayâ??probably noticeablyâ??but he grabbed it again anyways. He looked at our hands then at me. Half of me wanted to leave this kindness where it originatedâ??which was with Michaelâ??but the other half wanted to be that close to him, so I stayed like that. After praying for the meal there was barbecue in the backyard that we were welcomed to get, so Michael and I got some. Iâ??m not always the hugest fan when it comes to eating outside on days like this because of flies and the heat, so we traveled back inside where we were able to secure a little room on the sofa for ourselves. Sonny was in his own manly recliner, so people would stop and chat. I was one of those people. â??Hey, Sonny.â? I stooped to his eye level. â??â??Sup Lyric. Can you tell me why so many people decided to wear black? Iâ??m not dead just yet.â? â??Oh, I donâ??t know. They probably did it out of respect because before I realized it, Dad had to tell me to change.â? I giggled. â??So I decided to wear something pink!â? â??And green.â? He said of my t-shirt. â??Yeah, he said not to get too dressy.â? â??I told him to do that. I didnâ??t want to be witnessing my own wake!â? â??Youâ??re not,â? I laughed a little, â??not with me at least.â? When I was about to leave, he stopped me real quick. â??And thank you for the snow globe, Lyric. I know hospital shops donâ??t always have the best gifts.â? He laughed. â??Oh, youâ??re welcome. And call me if you need me.â? â??Okay.â? He said. I was getting thirsty again because my throat was closing up because it was dry, and that was because I was nervousâ??around all these people and Michael! â??Want anything, Iâ??m going to get soda.â? I asked him. After thinking for a moment, he shook his head yeah, so I decided I would just get him whatever I got. I just got my grip on the cups when I turned around and saw himâ?¦that Cooper guy. The guy was wearing a suit! He had on this dark gray blazer with matching pants, black leather shoes, this white puffy-looking blouse, and this gray and white tie. Though his attire was very awkward for the occasion, I must say that he looked very niceâ?¦.You wouldnâ??t even think of him as a smoker. But as I was looking at him, he looked up and was looking at me. Previously, he was talking to a group of people. Now, two of those people walked away, so he was standing in between two others, but he was zoned outâ?¦maybe to me. Those people sorta waver away, it was â??safeâ? for either me or him to walk up to the other, so without thinking, I wanted to, I guess, get on the right foot with him. I clenched my jaws and swallowed, picked up my stride, and walked up to this â??Cooper guyâ?. Short silenceâ?¦â??Got that drink for me?â? he asks. Okay, so he HAD to be making small-talk. He already had a cup in his hands! â??No, itâ??s not for you.â? â??What are you doing here?â? Was his next question. â??I know him,â? I was referring to Sonny. â??Why are YOU here?â? â??Because I know him, too. Maybe we should get to know each other. So, whatâ??s your name?â? â??Officer Cooper! Hey man, come over here, I got some news to tell you about your inauguration on the 28th!â? â??See you later, sweetheart.â? He bent down to hug me. And when he kissed my cheek, his lips wereâ?¦cold. They were soft, though. He was about to walk away when I stopped him. â??Hey, butâ?¦how will you know that youâ??ll see me AGAIN?â? I said in a dramatic way. â??Trust me, Buns,â? he winks, â??you will.â? Then he walks off to this man who needed to talk to him. After standing there for a few awkward seconds, I walked back in the house, and gave Michael his Sprite. â??You act like you just saw a ghostâ?¦.And you look like you LIKED it.â? He concluded. â??No, no â??ghostâ?? for me. But Iâ??m glad you could save my seat.â? ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Hey, yâ??all. The reason why my parts are long sometimes, and doesnâ??t always pertain strictly on Michael is because itâ??s in a girlâ??s point-of-view 100% of the time right now. My story is chronicling their lives, so of course I wonâ??t do a half-way job on something so important. Iâ??ve learned that this story is really different because of that, but Iâ??m asking you to enjoy your seat, because this story IS a roller coaster. Trust me, I GOT plans :). And since Lyric is still a teen, she has to have that balance with her â??socialâ? life, and her simple life at home: which now has a major twist because sheâ??s friends with this international star that we know of as MICHAEL JACKSON! So, please keep readingâ?¦ P.S. J. Randy Taraborrelli is a life-long friend of Michaelâ??s. Heâ??s a journalist & biographer, so he knows a lot about Michael because of that. Heâ??ll be in the story :)~~ As always, Luv Aariyan :)
