Sight Is Over-rated (Fluffy fic ^_^)
Ever since Ellie was 12 years old, she had become blind due to a degenerative eye disease. Now at 24, she had grown accustomed to being in the dark. She went through several therapy sessions as a child and her doctors told her there was no hope of regaining her sight. She was okay with that. She lived on her own with hardly any help except for her seeing-eye dog, Max, and her best friend since before her blindness, Sam. He had been with her since her eyes began to lose their focus. One Thursday afternoon Ellie heard a knock at the door and heard, "Hey, it's me, your gay best friend!" followed a by a short laugh. She knew that voice and answered the door. "Hey, Samuel, come on in." She reached out, and Sam took her hand and stepped inside. When she closed the door, he spoke up. "I actually have some news for you. I know how much you love Michael Jackson, and I have a little surprise for you. Please don't be angry with me, but I wrote him an email about you and how much you'd love to meet him..." "Sam....I don't...know what to say. W-what did you write? What did you tell him?" She was smiling so big she thought her face would split. She tried not to scream in excitement. "Well, I told him about your condition and that he was the last thing you saw when he was in the Jackson 5, and that you would love to meet him in person." He wrote back the next day saying he would love to meet you and has invited you to his home, the Neverland Ranch!" Sam took her hand and gave her what felt like a thick sheet of paper. "He personally wrote you a separate letter, and I printed it out in Braille so you could read it yourself! I haven't read it yet, so read it right now, out loud." Ellie sat down on the couch and put the paper on her lap and search for the first line. Out loud, she read, "Dear Ellie, I recently got an email from your friend Samuel and would be delighted to meet you. I will make sure that security knows your name so just tell them at the gate and they will escort you to the door. Thank you so much for writing and I can't wait to see you. I will call you on Friday myself. I hope you will be able to answer and I'll try to call at about noon. Tell Samuel he can come with you, and I would love to meet Max as well. Sincerely Michael J." Ellie screamed in excitement, thanking Sam over and over and he was so happy he decided to grab a bottle of wine and together they made a toast to Michael and their good luck. The rest of the day dragged on, and Ellie and Sam listened to Michael's music. She and him sang along with the music all day to pass the time. Sam picked out an outfit for her too for her meeting with Michael so she wouldn't have to by herself. He picked out some cute dark skinny jeans, a deep purple tanktop, and some white sketchers. She didn't realize what time it was till Sam said goodnight. "I'll call you after I talk to him, ok? You will know every detail!" Ellie promised. Sam hugged her and left for the night. At 10 AM, the following morning, her alarm went off. She hit the snooze button and got up, and felt around for the cordless house phone. She kept the phone near her at all times. She took a shower, pulled on a pair of jeans, a plain black t-shirt and sneakers, and had a bowl of cereal after feeding Max. Ellie checked the time several times within the next two hours. Almost every five minutes she would hit the automatic-voice button on her phone that read the time out loud for her. She checked the time on her cell once again then the house phone began to ring. 'Holy crap it's him, holy crap it's him, what do I do?!' she thought. She composed herself and answered on the third ring. "Hello?" "Um, is this Ellie?" a quiet voice asked. "Yes it is. Is this...Michael? "Hi Ellie, it's so nice to be able to speak with you. Your friend Samuel has told me a little bit about you." "Oh wow....Hi. I can't believe this, how are you?" "I'm doing wonderful." he laughed. "So, I have a question. Would you like to come visit me at Neverland Ranch this weekend? Tomorrow maybe?" Ellie was speechless. The King of Pop inviting some strange blind woman to meet him? Unreal. "Oh, of course, that sound great. Um, what time?" "Well, Sam gave me your address so I can have a limo come get you and Samuel at 10 AM tomorrow, if that's ok? I would come but it's hard to leave here without the press following me. Oh and I would love to meet Max, he's a golden retriever right?" "Yeah, he never leaves my side." Ellie laughed. "We would love to, thank you so much for this." "Of course, anything for a fan. I...hafta go, but I will see tomorrow, ok?" "Alright, goodbye, Michael." "Goodbye." he said sweetly before hanging up. As soon as she out the phone down, she called Sam on her cell and told him everything. "Tomorrow, oh no... I'm so sorry Ellie, but I can't go tomorrow. I have to go to my sister's wedding." "Oh Sam, that's ok, I have Max, and I'll get an autograph for you. Don't worry, your sister's wedding is way more important." "Are you sure?" Sam asked. "Yes, it fine, really, I'll call you when I get there and everything." "Ok, if you're sure. Call if you need me, ok?" "I'm sure, have fun." "Oh and Ellie, wear your hair down your back. You look so beautiful with it down and don't you dare cover your face. Take pictures too!" "Alright, bye love." and she hung up. Tomorrow would be the best day of her life, she could feel it. Saturday morning came, and Ellie got herself ready, smoothing her hair down and making sure Max's coat was brushed. As if on cue, there was a knock at the door. "Miss Ellie, my name is Brandon, I am one of Mr. Jackson's security men. I've come to escort you to the Ranch." "Just a moment!" Ellie called. She put her phone and house key on a lanyard around her neck, her chain wallet hooked to her jeans and put in her back pocket, grabbed onto Max's guiding strap and made sure her walking stick was secured to his back just in case. She put on her sunglasses and opened the door. "Good morning, miss, are you ready?" "Yes. Um, how long is the drive?" "It's about twenty-five minutes. Is Mr. Samuel coming as well?" "No, he couldn't make it, so it's just me and Max." Brandon laughed and stepped aside so he could lock and shut the door behind her. He opened the limo door and shut it after she was inside. Twenty-five minutes later, she heard yelling and screaming. "What's happening?" she asked the driver. "We are at the Ranch, miss." He said. "That's just the fans outside the gate." Ellie heard someone ask the driver who was in the backseat, and he said her name. "Oh, ok, Mr. Jackson is expecting her. Right on time." Then she heard the car move again then stop a few moments later. Her door opened and she was helped out of the limo. She could here a few people around her and guessed they were body-guards. Then she heard it. Michael's voice. "Is this Ellie?" "Mr. Jackson, this is Miss Ellie." she heard Brandon say. She felt someone gently take the hand she wasn't using to hold onto Max and kissed her knuckles. "Ellie, it's wonderful to meet you in person." his shy voice said. "Welcome to Neverland." Ellie smiled and blushed. "Thank you for having me." Michael spoke to everyone else while still holding her hand. "It's ok everyone, she's safe with me." he laughed. Everyone left her and THE Michael Jackson (along with Max) to themselves. "So this is Max?" She heard his cute laugh again and felt Max shake in excitement at this new person. "I think he likes you." Ellie said. "I hoped he would. How would you like to go for a walk outside with me." Michael never once released his gentle hold of her hand. "Of course, lead the way." They walked outside and she could feel the warmth of the sun on her skin and wished that she could see again, just for today. Just for a moment to have a glimpse of Michael so she would treasure that sight forever. "How would you like to sit in a tree with me?" Michael asked. Ellie was wondering how she would do that, until Michael said, "Oh God, I'm sorry....I didn't mean to....Oh no." Poor guy thought he had offended her by reminding her she was blind. "No, Michael, it's really ok. I've come to terms with my blindness a long time ago. Is there a bench nearby?" "Yes, come with me." He led her to a wooden bench and asked her to sit down. Ellie assured Michael again that he didn't offend her at all, and told him that he could ask her anything he liked; that they could talk freely. He agreed and he asked her about how long she had been blind and how it came to be. "I was born with an eye-disease that caused me to be night-blind and my vision eventually tunneled to where my peripherals were shot, and then at age 12 I woke up one morning and couldn't see a thing. My whole life changed. I had to learn how to get around my house by memorizing where everything was, I learned how to read Braille and took therapy that taught me how to rely on my other senses to get me around. I can smell when it's about to rain, I can hear an ambulance siren from miles away, things like that. It's incredible really." "Wow," Michael said, "That's horrible and yet amazing that you can still live your life." Ellie began to blush. Then a thought came through her mind. "Michael, I know I just met you, but I have a request." "Oh sure, what is it?" "I...The last time I saw you was on TV when you where in the Jackson 5 and you were the last thing I saw before I fell asleep and woke up blind. And...and I was wondering if you would let me "see" you, the way you are now?" It was silent for a moment, and Ellie knew it was a strange question, so before he could answer she found his hand and used both her hands to feel his fingers and palm. They were soft and warm, like she imagined. "Wait." Michael said. "May I take off your sunglasses?" She nodded and he took them off and placed them on her head. "You're eyes......beautiful....There like a cloudy green..." Ellie blushed and found his hand again. She them felt slowly up his arm to his shoulder, then to his neck and finally his chin. "There you are..." she said aloud to herself. She felt with both hands gently on his face. Both hands went up the sides of his face to his temples, the middle of his forehead, eyebrows down his nose, traced his lips and felt his curly soft hair between her fingers....All with a stinging curiosity and picturing him with her mind as to what he looked like. She then put her fingertips over his closed eyes. "Why so sad, Michael?" She suddenly asked. "What do you mean?" "I can feel it in your eyes, you're not...entirely happy, are you?" she continued to feel his precious, soft face, She heard and felt him sigh under her touch, almost as a release that someone could tell he wasn't completely happy, and asked him straight out. "You're....lonely....aren't you? That's why you let so many people visit this place, so you could be happy in their happiness." "Maybe, that's an interesting thought." "You are very beautiful Michael." "How...can you know that? "I can feel it. I bet your smile is amazing just like you. I love you and your music. They brighten my day whenever I hear one of your songs." "Thank you, thats great to hear." Michael said as she put her hands in her lap and lowered her eyes. "What's you're favorite song?" He asked. "Well, don't laugh, but I would hafta say it's a tie between 'Thriller' and 'You Rock My World'." Michael laughed softly anyways at her answer. Then started singing softly to Ellie. "My life will never be the same. Girl, you came and changed the way I walk, the way I talk. I cannot explain the things I'd do for you. But girl you know it's true. Stay with me, fulfill my dreams, and I'll be all you need. Feels so right. I've searched for the perfect love all my life. Oh, feels like I have finally found the perfect love. Come on girl, you rock my world, you know you did, and everything, I'm gonna give. There is nothing we can't find; someone like you to call mine."
