How it Happened: Billie Jean&Michael*19
Hey, guys. Ready for part 19? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was silence then a bunch of clapping. How could these people clap? That means the Jacksons will be away from yâ??all once again. And that means Michael will be away from me. I canâ??t say heâ??ll be away from me again because he hasnâ??t been away yetâ?¦. I spent the rest of serving the homeless in the actual kitchen, filling the plates with food and putting silver forks on the plate. The smell of chicken stir-fry with lemonade, banana pudding, and milk was a smell of pure food but it didnâ??t affect me much. Michael being on tour was where my focus was on at that time. â??Ouuh. Shh.â? I spilled some hot dripping stir-fry juice on the inside of my arm. I grabbed a nearby towel which had more banana pudding on it, so I wiped my arm off with my apron. Serving the food went over fifteen minutes. Not to be rude or ungrateful, I just wanted to confront Michael. â??Jeanette, help me with serving, please.â? Gloria asked after another ten minutes. â??Yeah, sure.â? I was too discombobulated to have the stupid apron on anymore so I snatched it off and would let my clothes get filthy if it needed to. Michael couldnâ??t say I didnâ??t do anything now. My question is now: where the heck is he? Michael. Where is he? Itâ??s like this to me: for a guy who hasnâ??t dated much doesnâ??t appreciate me that much. â??Excuse me maâ??am, I asked for lemonade five minutes ago. No one else needs anything. Please get my lemonade. My throat needs it.â? An old man said. He smiled and winked when he said â??My throat needs it.â? â??Sure sir.â? I went back to the front counter, I had to walk to the table he was sitting at, go back to the counter and put a few more ice cubes in his cup. Then I refilled his cup with lemonade. â??Here you go.â? â??Thanks.â? We started cleaning up after some more time. I looked at the clock and it was 4:37. We definitely went over 3:00. I went outside and the volunteers were still selling things. I got very fidgety and walked. I donâ??t know where but I walked anyways. You know, I donâ??t think I was hungry. I mean I was but I didnâ??t want to. I would just rather bite my nails right now. I walked past the Royce, so that meant he was still here. At least he was. So I walked and out the front entrance. There wasnâ??t any way to really know if you were really out the front entrance but I knew. I decided to walk back to the soup kitchen because I didnâ??t want to be rude and I had to go to the bathroom. Five minutes later, I was on the left side of the building. That was very backwards to me. I heard talking. I know youâ??re not supposed to eavesdrop but I was listening to Marlonâ??s voice talking to someone. â??Seriously man, why havenâ??t you told her anything?â? â??I just met her!â? I could tell it was Michaelâ??s. â??You knew about the rest of the schedule months ago. You had to because there was three sections on this tour. But you didnâ??t tell her!â? â??You didnâ??t tell Zoey.â? â??I donâ??t even know if Zoe will care. Maybe weâ??re better off apart.â? Well THATâ??S news. I peeked at them and saw they were in a little circle. â??Does Zoey know that? Rhonda and I seem so much alike.â? Randy chipped in. â??Hope she gets the hint.â? â??Well are you going to tell her, Mike?â? That was Jackieâ??s soft, authorized voice. â??Why is this conversation even came up?â? â??We told.â? â??Why?â? â??We needed people to know.â? â??Oh like some of them are really going to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii.â? â??The other concerts are in LA Michael. Just so you can REMEMBER that.â? Tito reminded him he seemed irritated with the way Michael was acting. Heâ??s not the only one. â??Thank you big mouths! I was going to tell her when the time is right. I still had over two months to tell her.â? â??And break her feelings?â? Randy asked. I peeked around the corner again and saw Michael give him a mocking look. â??And why havenâ??t yâ??all been all buddy-buddy today?â? Marlon brought up. â??We havenâ??t seen each other in a few weeksâ?¦and her job wonâ??t accept me.â? â??Huh?â? asked Marlon. â??Itâ??s against the rules and it is a long story.â? He said rushing them. I turned away and slid down the side of the building. Is it my job thatâ??s getting in the way or somethingâ??someoneâ??else? Oh no. Does he even remember our one month anniversary? I know itâ??s just a month but thatâ??s about how long we havenâ??t seen each other. If Iâ??d known we wouldâ??ve been here all day, I wouldâ??ve spoken to Michael about the tidiness in the bathroom. I finally used it after a short meal with Gloria. â??Gloria, do you know where Michael was today?â? She chuckled to herself a little. â??Whatâ??s the problem?â? â??Come on Gloria. You out of all people probably know whatâ??s up. Heâ??s been acting pretty shady right now and thatâ??s not like him. I believe it has something to do with the Jacksonsâ??s tour.â? I looked at my chicken stir-fry. â??Is it something I did or said? We did get off on a bad note this morning. â??First, I had on the wrong clothes to him. We were fine after that. Then we got here and I was inspecting the place. I guess he thought I thought it wasnâ??t good enough for me. But seriously, something is wrong. Maybe itâ??s my job or someone else.â? â??How long have you known him?â? I paused then exhaled. â??To be perfectly honest, itâ??ll be a month in two days.â? There was an uncomfortable silence at our table as she looked up and seemed to be getting what was stuck in her teeth out. After another minute, I couldnâ??t stand Gloriaâ??s unusual stiff-self. â??Say something!â? She looked a bit startled but every bit of understanding. â??I think he likes you Jeanette.â? â??Yeah, I can tell that but what about in a year?â? I mumbled to myself, not really to anyone else. â??He REALLY likes you I mean Jeanette.â? â??Will he still care to even know y face? I donâ??t want to join a long line of girls he known and kissed and now itâ??s like well where is that girl? Where did she go? Was she with you for the money? Is she pregnant and broke now?â? â??No one should think that Jen.â? â??But people will. Thatâ??s just how they think. He probably doesnâ??t even remember our one month anniversary of when we actually met. It was pretty special to me.â? â??What day was it when yâ??all met?â? â??Friday.â? â??I actually meant the date.â? â??The 16th?â? â??Yeah.â? â??Of May?â? â??Un-huh.â? â??Do you know that was his sisterâ??s birthday?â? â??Whose?â? â??His little sister, Janet.â? â??Oh, really? Michael didnâ??t say anything about it. He never told me that. Mustâ??ve been good luck for me. For us.â? â??Yeah. Just go easy on him. Heâ??s had a long day.â? â??Doing what? Iâ??ve had the long day today. Iâ??m the confused one. He must be peeved off or something. Shouldnâ??t be about me though. I didnâ??t do anything.â? â??Call me if you need to. Hereâ??s my number.â? She grabbed a pencil from behind her ear and scratched her number on a napkin. â??If you canâ??t reach my house, you know the number to the soup kitchen and theyâ??ll give you my number. Iâ??ll send them your name.â? â??Thank you Gloria.â? â??Good luck Jeanette.â? When I finished squatting over the porter-pottyâ??s toilet and gathering what was left of my self-esteem, I walked out to the front of the building. It was windy though the sun was still bright. I looked at my wrist and thatâ??s when I noticed I never put a watch on. I knew it was six-something. I looked around the place, hoping to see Michael. I didnâ??t. I was at the end of my endless rope by now. I just wanted to go home and not see him for the rest of the day. I would walk before I rode with Michael. I looked at the ground, contemplating my next move. The only thing that I was hearingâ??other than my troubled thoughtsâ??was the wind. It seemed very peaceful. I was calmed down. I was about to walk to his car when Michael pulled up. He made the effort to reach over the passengerâ??s seat and open the door for me. I got in shut the door and didnâ??t even look Michaelâ??s way. I was that hurt by him today. When I did look at him, I actually looked from the corner of my eye. We were still in the middle of nowhere. He tried holding my hand a few times but I kept slapping his hand away. We got back to the city and he stopped at this restaurant. He leaned over and whispered in my ear. â??Hope youâ??re not too mad at me.â? â??Iâ??m not hungry Michael and I want to go home.â? â??But I want to eat with you.â? â??Thereâ??s the problem right there. You wanna do something but I donâ??t. I sacrificed a whole day for you. You treated me like trash and I didnâ??t see you the whole day. I bet you donâ??t even remember in two days thatâ??s how long weâ??ve known each other. A single month and weâ??re already fighting. Then youâ??re leaving me on my birthday. Because you gotta perform. I just wanna go home.â? He drove away from the restaurant and took me straight home. He walked me to my door. â??I didnâ??t forget about the 16th Jenny. Really, I didnâ??t. I have my reasons for acting like this. Itâ??s because of whatâ??s going on right now. Not you but life.â? â??That doesnâ??t give you the excuse to treat me like this Michael. None whatsoever.â? I looked away and he kissed my neck and turned to go. â??I need to spend more one-on-one time with you Jeanette. No phone calls.â? Michael said over his shoulder. I closed the door, locked it, and sat Gloriaâ??s number down on the counter. I took a shower and watched TV before falling asleep on the couch. -------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope yâ??all liked. Vote up!
