How MJ came into my life
Well, it all began when my little sister wanted to learn the cello. I played the piano and had done since I was 5. I didn't want to be famous on the piano or anything like that, but my sister wanted fame with her cello. My mum and I tried to talk her out of wanting to be famous, talking about all the bad things that happened to celebs and other famous people. Then my mum brought up the subject of Michael. She said that he disguised himself from the paparazzi and put bags over his kids heads so no-one could see them (?), and that he lived in a fairy castle (?). My little sister asked who Michael Jackson was so we explained. Coincidentially, it was near Michael's birthday earlier this year. Michael Jackson Turns 50 was written on MSN 'headlines'. It was a selection of about 16 badly taken pictures of Michael down the years, and some nasty things were written about him. This was not intended to make people like him. However, it had the opposite effect on my two sisters and me. My little sister then started to watch Thriller and Beat It, and 'fell in love' with MJ. Being someone who played only classical music on the piano myself, I was not at all interested in pop music, so I never bothered to go any further with MJ. My sister then found out about him being so kind to children, and having his own Heal the World Foundation. She told me this, to which I was very surprised. She also told me that he wrote a song for children (The Lost Children) so I asked her to show it me. She did the next day and I loved it. She then showed me Earth Song and Heal the World which I loved even more and instantly started to love Michael. We then watched interviews and other things, all his other songs (which I started to love all them). I am only 14 (I was 13 then) and as I mentioned earlier, I didn't want fame or anything like that on the piano. My intention was to give it up even though I was winning festivals and I was playing music past grade 8 standard because I had started to not like it anymore. I then read something that MJ wrote. I don't know it all, but it said in it 'cultivate your talents to the highest degree. Work like there is no tomorrow'. I instantly went to my piano and starting practicing. I was crying because this man who I had misunderstood for so long and who the whole world almost misundertsood and people were so horrible to him - he had just inspired me so so so so much in that small quote within a few seconds of me reading it. I all of a sudden wanted fame on the piano. I wanted to sing. I wanted to become famous so that one day I could meet Michael just so I could say Thank you to him. That inspiration he gave me that day has just grown and grown and as I have found more things, he has inspired me more. Since then, I have never felt once that I have wanted to give up the piano, and I just want to do my best at EVERYTHING that I do now. I want to help poor people and children al over the world. And I want to defend Michael all my life and show people and tell people what a wonderful, kind, and very misunderstood man he really really is.
