Do I Know You?....Part 2

I examined the small circle scar left on my neck. It was one week after Dereck was sentenced and I still feel terrible. I was in Jessica's bedroom and she watched as I unpacked my bags. My eyebrows furrowed in uncertainty yet again.

Me: Are you sure I can-
Jess: Ssh. it's okay. You can stay in our guest room.
Me: (Hugs Jess) Thanks Jess.
Jess: I have a question. I'm your best friend right?
Me: Of course.
Jess: Why didn't you call me? I mean, (Getting angrier) you are so lucky I came over to visit! What if I hadn't come over!? You wouldn't be here. That's what!
Me: He smashed my phone Jessica. He smashed it. 
Jess: Oh.

She left me to get changed and came back with something small and black in her hand. I shuddered as that gave me deja vu' from the car battery incident.

Jess: Here. Use my old one. I have some old contacts on there that I used to...um mingle with. (Smiles with a hint of blush)
Me: Eww your exes Jess? What if they call? 
Jess: Easy. Tell them it's the wrong number.
Me: Okay.

I kissed her and Leon goodnight and went to sleep.

I woke up the next morning with a sense of tiredness. I know why, it's back to work! Yay!...Not. 
I moped through breakfast and on my way to work. I work as a receptionist at an executive building for a magazine called That's real! It is a celebrity magazine focusing on the good side of celebs. We only print the truth about the celebrities and believe it or not, we have the most readers of any magazine ever. More celebrities give interviews too because they know lies aren't being printed about them.

**2:30pm

Okay, I'm working on Issue 12, 13th of April, 1983. It's been a busy morning and I've gotten a lot done. My boss Michelle, is the only person who I work with that knows why I had a week off work. She is thankful that i've gotten straight back into work and is talking with me about a promotion.

After the talk, where nothing was settled, I got back into work. Jess's old phone beeped. Wonder who that could be? I looked at the message.

From: Mike
To: Jess

Hi Jessica. Haven't spoken to you since...well, ages! Hahaha I really hope we can catch up. You were one of my best friends in high school and I really miss you. Hope you get this :)

Love, Mikey.

I shrugged and got back to work.
