"So have you looked at 
any dresses lately?" Julie 
asked Melanie over 
breakfast. Melanie shook 
her head. That was a 
stupid question in her 
opinion. It had been just 
over a week since they 
stepped foot into Gary,IN 
and Miss.Gary,IN was 
weeks away. But she 
daren't say a word. "Why 
is it I have to do 
everything? Anyway, 
today afterschool I need 
you here because I called 
a designer for you," Julie 
said. "Thank you. I'm so 
lucky to have a mother as 
dedicated as you are," 
Melanie said rolling her 
eyes. "Aren't you just. By 
the way, please do 
someth ing about your 
face. Its not glowing 
enough." Julie said 
ignoring her daughter' s 
sarcasm. Melanie dreaded  
seeing the designers. But 
it seemed she didnt need 
to that day. It was 
afterschool and she 
spotted Michael across 
the streets looking a bit 
down. Melanie never had 
a real friend and wasnt 
sure how to handle a sad 
person but wanted to 
help Michael. She went up 
to him and he was so 
startled he almost 
tripped. "I am so sorry if I 
scared you." Melanie said. 
Michael smiled at her to 
indicate it was fine. "I 
must be the least 
romantic guy ever." 
Michael said. "What 
makes you say that?" 
Melanie asked. "Lets go 
somewhere a little more 
private a like the park 
benches." Melanie went 
with him surprised at 
how safe she felt.
