"Okay who was that?" Tatum asked Michael as he walked her to her house. "Nobody." he said automatically. She decided to just drop it. As they were at the door he was about to leave her when she asked, "Aren't you coming in?" Michael saw the way she kept looking at him and it urked him and made him uncomfortable. The girl was 12. Why couldn't she act her age even if they were dating? "No. Not today." he said. Tatum was dissappointed but then nodded. Michael being the kind of person he was then said, "I'll call you tonight." She didn't show much emotion towards that. Michael really did call her that night. "So how are you doing? You know there's a movie coming out. Do you want to check it out?" he said to her over the phone. Tatum turned to her friend Olivia and put her hand over the mouthpiece. "You talk to him. He's been boring me for the past ten minutes." Tatum hissed. "Why are you dating him?" Olivia asked her. "Isn't it a bit oubvious?" Tatum said. Olivia talked to Michael and the poor guy was rambling on and on thinking it was his girlfriend. On the other side of town that night, Melanie was doing her homework when she heard laughing outside. She decided to just ignore it. Her mind was somewhere else. She couldn't stop thinking about how Michael defended her. "You don't get that in alot of people these days." she said aloud. The thought of Michael made her smile. She really wanted to see him do ballet. "Uuugh! Why did Tatum o'Neal have to come?! She totally ruined the moment!" she said. She wrote Tatum's name on a piece of paper and ripped the paper apart. This actually amused her. She was hating on the "poor girl" for nothing really. If things work out in her favour, she'll see Michael again. Thoughts of him were making her forget about Bryce "The Stupid Jerk Who Thinks Coming Onto Girls Is Hot" Mitchell and his girlfriend  Becky "whatever her surname is".(Those names would be what Melanie nicknamed Bryce and Becky) The people were still laughing and Melanie peeped out the window to see what was going on purely out of curiousity. She saw Vince her stepfather with two women at the back of his car. They must've been drunk. All the doors were open and they just weren't acting very sober. Vince was kissing one of the women while his hands were all over the other one. Melanie couldn't believe what was happening but wasn't at all shocked. As known from the very beginning, Vince liked and treated his dog better than her and Julie.
