Hi my name is Mariah Jade Smyth. It is 1981 and I am 20 years old. It is exactly 3 weeks until my 21st birthday. My friends are organising a huge b-day bash and I'm really excited because there is a massive suprise they've organised. I'm the youngest out of my friends (who are all 21) and they are looking forward to the party. I've going shopping for an outfit for the night today with my friends Tara, Selena, Jess and Bree. I got the money from my mom's birthday present, $100 to "spend on something special"

Right now all five of us are in the car with Selena driving.

Me: Tara, tell me what the suprise is!
Tara: No, ask Bree.
Me: Bree?
Bree: Ask Jess.
Me: Jess, please!
Jess: Umm...uhhh. Ask Selena.
Me: Leena?
Selena: C'mon just wait a few more weeks and then you can find out. Anyway, what are you gunna buy today?
Me: Maybe a sparkly dress.
Selena: Hun, you're not 19 anymore. You have to wear fluro. That's so hip these days.
Me: Okay.

We get there and go into the first shop. Jess's phone rings.

Jess: Oh hey baby....Shopping with the girls....What?....Oh by the way, I can't make tonight....Sorry, but I can't be stuffed....You too....Bye.
Me: Who was that?
Jess: A suprise.
Me: You're BABY is my suprise?
Jess: Yep. C'mon let's find something for the party.
Bree: That reminds me, I gotta get new PJs because James is visiting this weekend.
Tess: Are you two still dating?
Bree: Yup. 2 years on Saturday.
Tess: (understanding what she meant by new PJs) Ugh, yuck.

I chose a fluro yellow mini skirt with a black t-shirt and bright pink high heels. This was so cool. I normally can't afford new clothes because working at Walmart doesn't provide a gold toilet.

As we were walking along, I saw a bunch of cute-ish guys eyeing us out. I blushed and smiled at one guy who winked at me. Later on as we ate in the food court, they approached us. The one who winked had high jeans and a baggy shirt on.

Guy: Hey cutie.
Me: Hi. What's up?
Guy: The guys and I couldn't help but notice you pretty little thangs strutting your stuff and thought we'd come and introduce ourselves.
Me: Oh cool. I'm Mariah. This is Tara, Bree, Selena and Jess.
Guy: Sweet. I'm Kyle. Nathan, Luke and Shawn.
Selena: Hi, (eyeing out Nathan) do you guys wanna come to Mariah's 21st birthday party in a few weeks? (fluttering her eyelashes)
Nathan: (really quickly) Sure. Definately. Selena, right? Have you got a boyfriend or...
Selena: Why no I don't. 
Nathan: Want one?
Selena: (joking) Okay. Luke, wanna be my-
Nathan: I meant me!
Selena: I know. And yes, I'd love to go on a date.

Guy: Mariah?
Me: Yeah?
Guy: Can I come?
Me: Sure.
Guy: Where is it?
Me: My house. 31 Smile Street.
Guy: Will there be booze?
Me: Umm...?
Jess: Of COURSE! What's a 21st without beer?!
Guy: Awesome. I guess we'll see you sexy ladies then.
Me: Bye.

They leave and I turn to face Jess.

Me: Really? Booze?
Jess: Yeah, so.
Me: My mom would rather jump off a cliff than see me drink alcohol!
Jess: So would mine. That's why we don't tell em!
Me: I'm not gunna lie to my mom.
Jess: Fine. Have it your way, but we're still gunna drink though.
Me: Fine then! (I snap back)
