Amber's Heart Part 9
Part 9 The rest of the weekend went by without me and Michael hanging out. We were fine with that. On Monday morning I felt like I was looking in the mirror of a new person, which was now a woman. I put on this white, pink, and gray stretchy shirt, light jeans, white tennis and a pony to the side. I even looked brighter. Mom: Well someone is happy today! Me: Nothing much. I grabbed an apple and made a huge bite. Me: Thanks Mom. I tossed it to her and grabbed a napkin to get some chunks out my mouth. I wasnâ??t the only one who was cheery, Sandy had her first day at her new college and Beanie was leaving to search for Peter. I was walking by myself. When I got up there, I went to Jan and Pamela of course. Michael was wearing a turtleneck that was green. We werenâ??t matching but we looked good together. Michael: You look gorgeous today. Me: I love green on you. Are you burning up, I can tell you have a t-shirt under your sweater. Michael: No. We werenâ??t the only ones at our stop, so when he tried to kiss me, I took one step away. I didnâ??t want people knowing yet, so he slipped his hand in mine. Me: Iâ??m trying to keep this under wraps for now. Michael: Youâ??re ashamed to be seen with me? Me: No, no way. Thereâ??s nothing to be ashamed about, I just donâ??t want people to know already. Michael: Why? Me: What if we break up within two weeks. Thatâ??s how long I wanted to keep it a secret. Michael: If I like you, then I like youâ??nothing to it. He knelt down to kiss me on the cheek anyway. Me: (giving an annoy look) Michael: (sticking his tongue out) He followed me on the bus, his hand still attached to mine. We werenâ??t being clingy to each other, but people started to notice subtle things. By Friday, Susie, our bus driver remember, started calling us an â??itemâ?. Michael never denied any of it; he only smiled and kept going by his business. Gladly, my stomach was cooperating with me, so no gas came around him. As we were walking from the stop on Friday, Janet was talking about going to the beach tomorrow. Me: Jan, you surely like giving people short time notices. Janet: Thatâ??s me! Michael was in step with me, leaning over my shoulder. Every time I get near him like that, my private starts to ting. I always feel so guilty afterward. He wasnâ??t doing anything though, just walking and listening to us. I knew he was close enough to kiss my neck, but he didnâ??t do it. Janet: How about we get there by twelve. Itâ??s about a thirty-minute drive. Michael can drive us, he got his license on his birthday, and Mother wonâ??t mind. Me: Yeah? Janet: Itâ??s fun Amber. You need to come with us. Me: I planned on reading. Janet: On Saturday? Look, I know youâ??re a borne book worm, but you need some fun. Itâ??s fun. Me: Wellâ?¦ Janet: You donâ??t need Michael looking at other girls. I stopped then and tried to picture it: Michael looking at other slim girls, some even taller and lanker than me, plus curvier. When I did that, I startled him. Iâ??m not sure why he was being this quiet, but I liked it. Me: Well Beanieâ??s furniture hasnâ??t come yet, so itâ??ll work. Janet: Like you wouldâ??ve been home by yourself tomorrow. Me: Iâ??ll go. I was dropped off at my house. I was jumpy about what may lay ahead tomorrow. Pamela couldnâ??t come since she came to my house last Saturday. She had to go see some of her relatives. I wore the bathing suit Paris wore on the beach on â??Love Donâ??t Cost a Thingâ?. The last one she wore, with my hair candy-curled also. It had moose in it and was extra curly-wavy looking. Mom: You need to eat something Amber. Me: I donâ??t know what I want to eat. Beanie: Waffles, greedy? Me: My mouth will smell like syrup. Beanie: I guess Michael donâ??t like that. I threw her a dirty look. Mom: Just be careful Amber. I know it seems like it may be love right now, but donâ??t put yourself in a situation you would feel like you were going to burst. Me: Pamela is visiting family and Janet will be with us. Mom: Sheâ??s going to want to have fun too Amber. Me: I know that. Mom: Then start acting like it. Katie, the girls, and I are going out today. Me: Where? Mom: The new mall, and some stores to get some new decoration for the house. Me: Oh okay. When Sandy wake up, tell her I said bye and I love her. I hugged her and kissed Beanie. With a serious look, Mama told me: Donâ??t say those words and do something you wouldnâ??t do in front of your own Mama. Me: I know. Love you too. I went to Janâ??s home with a large white t-shirt on that had the drawing of another bikini, my bag with the stuff, and some flip flops on. I also brought sandals. Ding, dong I went. Michael answered the door, of course with his on. He was wearing red trunks, looking at me shivering from the sudden breeze. Michael: (grinning) well donâ??t you look innocent todayâ??too innocent. He bent down and kissed my cheek. Me: Yeah, yeah. Jan came down in a two-piece also with her usual pig tails. Me: You look silly. (I said through giggles) Janet: But available. Michael: Whatever. We headed out, Michael driving and Janet insisted me to sit next to him. He seemed to be an excellent driver. We were in the truck. Michael: Weâ??re here. So we got out. It was a beautiful sunny day with the wind blowing subtly. Iâ??m glad I had my shades on to block the powerful rays. We walked barefoot on the sand and I let the sand go through my toes. We noticed someone familiar. It was Pam! We ran up to her. Me: Pam? Hugging her Michael: I thought you were with your family. Pamela: Oh one of them got what you had; now my parents went with yâ??alls. Me: Euuw. Giggling Me: Thatâ??s good though. We went walking some more when Jan and Pam decided to run off. Michael: Yâ??all guys be careful. Both: No thanks. He just turned around and laughed, shaking his head. Our shoulders were bumping into each othersâ??. We werenâ??t talking until Michael suddenly pushed me into the water. It was freezing! And I still had the big t-shirt on. Me: (pointing at him shouting) Michael, Iâ??m going to get you for this, you hear? Michael: If only you could catch me. So I smacked the t-shirt down with my stuff and my shawl also. I ran after him as fast as I could. He was pretty fast, but I was just as fast also, so I almost caught him by the trunks at first. Then I caught him by the shoulders when I hopped up on his back, wrapping them around his waist. He â??felledâ? face forward in the water, clinging me down with him. I screeched from the shock of the cold again. He had me by the waist and started kissing me, clinging my limbs to him again. We were locked in a long kiss with all of my senses tingling. Then he tagged me, saying I was Marco and he was Polo. I had to go around the water with my eyes closed, trying to find him. I heard him after a while, so I caught him. Me: Marco! He was balled up. Michael: Iâ??m gonna getâ??cha, Iâ??m gonna getâ??cha! Me: Yeah, kay. I said nonchalantly He counted to twenty with me flapping over the water, trying to find a place to hide. I canâ??t swim under water like he could, so I went under an umbrella on a blanket. I lay on my stomach, nose down, and was silent. I felt the warmth throughout my whole body. I knew my hair looked a mess by now. He wetted it too much and now it was basking in the sun. My heart began to beat terribly fast. I heard Michaelâ??s voice on the shore. Michael: Oh Polo, where are you? Me: (silence) I heard feet approach the blanket I was at, then one rubbing my backside in a circular motion. Weird! Then I felt a body lay on mine. So you can know Michael and I havenâ??t been this bare in front of each other, nevertheless this close. I was definitely the feminine one of the female specie, and he was the masculine one of the male specie. He had muscle, but he was boney. So I guess he had the average body. Then he whispered in my ear: Marco, where are you? I decided to turn around giggling. I raised my head a little and kissed him. He connected with me. We were so close together, one another were squished. We stayed like that for awhile until he pulled away finally. I wiped around my lips, then his smirking. He started burying me in sand. Me: Michael, you big kid. Michael: (smirked and kissed my hair) how silly do you look. Me: I canâ??t move. He started to bury his self also. Me: Michael, Iâ??m thirsty. Michael: Come on then. He got out first with grace then helped me up. I grabbed my bag with my t-shirt back on and got on his back. I leaned my head on his hair. Me: Am I heavy? Michael: No, youâ??re really light. Me: How much do you think I weigh? Michael: Maybe one-hundred ten. Me: One-hundred nine. Michael: Close enough. Me: I want to know if I could carry you. Michael: Iâ??m bones and muscle. Me: I know. He climbed on my back, which was very awkward, and I was only capable of taking a few stepsâ??which was very wobbly. Michael: Youâ??re weak. He said laughing and flapping my soggy hair. Me: I am not. Look at my arm muscle. I flexed real quick. Michael: Yeah you do, but youâ??re still weak. Me: Shut up. When we got to the little store, I realized it was a little shack. I choose a large watermelon snow cone and Michael got a large blue berry. Michael: Weâ??re gonna have to pee afterward. Me: Youâ??re gross you know. Michael: Yeah, yeah. When we devoured it all, Jan and Pam caught up with us. Janet: I got a phone number. Michael: Who is he? Pamela: He goes to our school. Michael: Oh. All of our arms were locked together until I stepped on something that bit me. Me: Ouch, ouch, ouch! I didnâ??t feel any of the ice I just ate, all I felt was hot air run up and down me. Michael: Whatâ??s the matter? I looked down. Me: I was bitten by a crab. They looked down in the sand also. Michael: You sure did. We should go and get this checked out. Me: No, Iâ??m fine. See, I can still wiggle my big toe. When I tried, every little shake was bitter pain. Michael: No, weâ??re taking you to the hospital and thatâ??s that. One of you lift her other side and someone carry her bag. Pam had me and Jan had my stuff. He decided after a little bit to just carry me bridal way. They put my towel under me and still put me in the passengerâ??s seat. Michael squeezed my hand, giving me reassuring words. Michael: Donâ??t worry Amber. Weâ??ll call your mom once we get you settled there. Me: Sheâ??s gonna be so mad. I was closing in my tears, determined not to cry. The pain was itchy also, and it may have something to do with the sand. :)
