Amber's Heart's Part 1
Itâ??s me Aariyan, I hope you like. I also write How it Happened: Billie Jean& (and) Michael Hi, Iâ??m Amber Logan. Iâ??m a typical girl with a single mom. Iâ??m the only child, she and my father split when I was four, so itâ??s just me carrying on his name. We live in Chicago now with my older cousin and her little sister. It doesnâ??t bother me to know Iâ??m the only child because as time went by I realized they are my sisters within me. I was walking home from school and Mom got off early which was peculiar. Mom: Hi sweetie. Me: Mom, what are you doing off work so early? She didnâ??t say anything, just grinned a fishy grin. Mom: Iâ??ll tell all of you once Beatrice gets here (my little cousin). I just went up to my room. It was Friday, thank God. I was worn from the weekâ??s work, so I just lifted the book bag off my shoulder and laid on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. I resented doing the same thing every day. Itâ??s not that I donâ??t love life, I do. But sometimes I wouldnâ??t mind a zing to go throughout my body all at once. Another thing I remembered was Sandra (my older cousin) was working a late shift at May-Tag, so I had no such luck today. I wanted something different. Sandra mustâ??ve gotten a phone call from Mama, because she came home by 4:30, and school ended for me an hour ago. Sheâ??s very serious about working and helping Mama out, so she hasnâ??t missed a day to my knowledge. While we waited on her, Beanie (Beatriceâ??s nickname) came up to my room. Sheâ??s ten but very mature for her age. Sometimes I think sheâ??s more experienced than me! She knocked on my door. Me: Who is it? Too lazy to get my butt off the bed Beanie: Me Me: Come in Beanie: Hey? Me: Hey? Me giving away a phony smile Beanie: Are you fine? Me: Yeah, why you ask? Beanie: Oh I donâ??t know. Bye. Me: Bye Even Beanie couldnâ??t think of anything to say. Well I just sat there on the bad grumpy at the world. I go to public school but in the magnet program. Iâ??ve dated multiple guys which were mainly short-lived, a day or so. One boy that did make me smile was Reginald Ranger. That was two months and thatâ??s it. Since then Iâ??ve put dating on hold. I heard Sandy coming in from work. I dashed down the stairs skipping the other step as I went down, Beanie was shortly after. Me: Okay Mom? Mom: Donâ??t rush me Amber. Iâ??m making baked chicken, mashed potatoes, buttered roles, and kool-aid. Beanie: Is that why you called us down here Auntie? I couldnâ??t help gigglingâ?? we nudged each other in the stomachs. All Mama did was stare at us with one brow raised. Mom: First of all, I didnâ??t even call you two rebels down here, Sandy gets here from work early and now you two are jumping down my throat. Me: But Mom you got off of work early today and so did Sandy. Whatâ??s up? Mom: Nothing, now Amber and Beanie go up the stairs, now! I need to talk to Sandra. Yes mâ??am we mumbled as we stumped up the stairs, right before Mama told us to stop. Beanie silently grabbed my arm, and then closed her door after us. Beanie: I wonder what your mom is telling Sandy. Me: Yeah, me too. Beanie: Wanna eavesdrop? Me: Beanie! Beanie Hicks is very intelligent for a ten year old, sheâ??s just sneaky at times. I guess a typical ten year old. Beanie: What, well I know you want to know what your mom is telling Sandy. Itâ??s very odd for my sister to be off of work so early and she told us of the shift she was supposed to be working tonight. Me: Of course I do, Iâ??m just not sure if I should. Beanie: Well let me go out the door real quick and see if Auntie is at least cooking. Me: Okay, real quick. Beanie: Iâ??ll be expecting to whiff up some buttered rolls. Me: Beanie get outta here. She opens her door gently, leaving it opened just a crack. She plants her ear on the wall blocking us from them. She came back in no time. Me: Well? Beanie: Yeah she is. Now letâ??s see what your mama is telling Sandy. We snuck out again, bending on our knees. It was very complicated hearing what they had to say, so I scooted up, getting a peek at Mama and Sandy. Beanie was right behind me. Mom: Sandy, you know that new job I interviewed for last month. Sandy: Yeah? Mom: What I didnâ??t tell yâ??all was itâ??s in California. Sandy: Cali?! California? Mom: Yes. Sandy: What part in California? Mom: Encino. Sandy: What was the job you interviewed for? Mom: Iâ??m the new agent for Mr. Robby, he sells electronicsâ??videogames too. Sandy: What kind of video games? Mom: All kinds. Sandy: What all kinds? Sandy is nineteen but acts immature sometimes. When sheâ??s annoyed and unsatisfied, she tends to ask dumb questions. Then when she gets right down to the root of what she really wants to know, the other personâ??s head is soon to blow off. Mom: Sandy I know this is hard on you, but I know you want to do more than work at May-Tag for the rest of your life. Sandy: I know that. Mom: So Iâ??m moving my family out of here. Right here and now there arenâ??t any real opportunities. I love Chicago and I know Amber is going to be a little heartbroken, but she is always complaining about something new popping up in her life. I also sent a copy of hers and Beanieâ??s last report cards to a private school near our new house. They said yes! Sandy: What, hold up Aunt Mirandaâ?? you got a new job, Amber and Beanie are going to a private school, and now were in a new home? Mom: Yup, thatâ??s right. Donâ??t worry, I had you transferred to a better college, youâ??re still studying Criminal Justice. Sandy: Cool Auntie Then she gave my momâ??s neck a hug Me: (whispering to Beanie) Can you believe this? Beanie: No! Iâ??m not going to some fancy school, Iâ??m fine at Prattâ??s Elementary. Me: Calm down, I know Iâ??ll miss Kim and Deborah and all my other friends, but you know a phone is always available? Beanie: I donâ??t care if a phone was your mouth instead, Iâ??m not going to some stupid school all the way out in California. You know some of them make you wear uniforms. Me: Beanie. Beanie: Amber. We decided to creep down the stairs, but since Beanie wanted to be a clown, she pushed me down the steps, making me twist my ankle a bit, so I grabbed her wrist, making her fall with me. I say I donâ??t care how old you are, itâ??s never too old to be a kid. We laughed like howling hyenas lying on our backs. Mom: I guess you guys heard everything that was said? Me: Just about. Mom: Go wash yâ??all hands, weâ??re about to eat. SMB: Okay. As Sandy and I went to the upstairs bathroom, I asked herâ?¦ Me: Sandy, do you know where Encino is located? Sandy: Iâ??m not too sure myself. Me: What about Gerald, will you miss him Sandy: I learned the boy was â??fruityâ?. Me: Andâ?¦? Sandy: And he did â??itâ?. Me: With a dude? Sandy: With a dude. Me: Euwkk! Thatâ??s gross. Sandy: He hid it from me pretty well. Me: Sorry Sand. Sandy: Donâ??t worry; the boy was fat, stubby, and short! She pushed me then, so I pushed her back, we were giggling. I loved Beanieâ??s and Sandyâ??s company. I had the best of both worlds. Beanie: What are you two so giggly about? Sandy: Nothing you will need to know about for the next ten years. Beanie: Whatever. We went to sit at the table. Mama blessed our food, and we started eating. We had a few questions to ask her. Me: When will we be moving? Mom: Sunday. You start school that following day. All three of us were a little gloomy. Mom tried cheering us up, but got the point. Mom: Look guys, Sandy gets a better shot at being a detective; Amber with her Performing Arts; Beanie with her talk show and being a comedian; and financial purposes. And how you always blabber on and on about a new life Amber. Me: I said those words because I was angry or sad or lost Mama. Mom: I know, and now you got your wish baby. She smiled a reassuring smile Me: (mumble) I guess. We had some more questions through our bites, for dessert we had vanilla ice cream. I went to bed shortly after. The next day I went over to Kimâ??s and Debbie joined us. We tried to act as natural as we always had; but that was nearly impossible. (Kim, possible, ring any bells lol) Kim: Be sure to call us Amber. Debbie: Please? Me: Of course you guys. We cried a little more, then I left. Right after I got home, I was packing my things. I had a head ache looking at my room that Iâ??ve lived in for nearly ten years empty. The loaders knew how to load our things in a flash. By Sunday, I looked in the whole house, scoping all of it in, with tears clinging to my heart. We had first-class seats. Beanie and Sandy tried reasoning with me, but all I did was look out the window with a burning face of fear. I hoped you like it so far, Iâ??m still doing Billie Jean. It is nice putting some new names though. Donâ??t worry; you know who is to be mentioned next! Please vote, and thank you to ANY of the stories Iâ??ve read, ideas came to me so I write â??em down. Part Two is to come. * :)!
