Michael Jackson: His Only Love *Two*

5 years later, while Joseph was at the steel mill, Tito has practiced on his dadâ??s guitar. While the boys are dancing and singing while they are doing their chores. But, one nightâ?¦.

â??Who broke a string on my guitar?!â? Joseph yelled.

The children woke up with their hearts pounding against their chests.

â??Who did this?â? He looked around the boyâ??s room. â??Titoâ?¦did you do this?â?

â??Y-Y-Y-Yes, s-sir.â? Tito stuttered.

With a surprisingly relaxed face, Joseph asked, â??When I fix this, you will play this. Okay?â?

â??Yes, Joseph.â?

â??Okay, Tito. Play.â? Joseph said the next morning.

Tito played his heart out. Little Randy smiled as Jermaine, Marlon, and Jackie started singing and dancing.

â??These kids have talent.â? Joseph told Katherine.

â??Now, Josephâ?¦Marlon is only 6. And what about Michael?â?

â??One, just look at Marlon. Look at how he dances. Two, Michael is too young.â?

â??Well, if Marlon can be in the band, why canâ??t Michael? Michael is only-â??

â??Yeah, why canâ??t I?â? Michael asked.

â??Michael I said youâ??re too young! Now sit back down and watch your brothers.â? Joseph yelled.

â??Come on, Michael.â? Katherine said.

Days later, while Michael was making his bed, he started to sing softly. But, Katherine heard him clearly as she passed by his room.

â??Joseph! Joseph you have to hear Michael.â?

â??Katherine, I told you a thousand times, Jermaine is the lead singer.â?

â??Joseph, please!â?

â??Oh, fine!â? Joseph got up and walked over to Michaelâ??s door. Almost immediately he smiled proudly. â??Michael?â?

Michael flinched and straightened up and faced Joseph. â??Yes, Joseph?â?

â??I think Katherine was rightâ?¦you should join the band.â?

Michaelâ??s jaw dropped. He looked at his mother and then to Joseph. â??Really?!â?

â??Yes. Now come into the living room so, we can tell your brothers.â?

Michael sat down in the chair in between Latoya and Rebbie.

â??Why are you so happy?â? Latoya asked.

â??Because Iâ??m joining the band.â?

â??Ha, right.â? Rebbie laughed.

â??Itâ??s true!â?

â??It is true.â? Joseph interrupted before the fight could start.

Michael smiled proudly and smiled even more when he heard Marlon ask, â??Did I hear that this would be the Jackson 5?!â?

â??The Jackson 5? That sounds good. Yes, Marlon.â? Joseph replied.

The rest of the boys agreed quickly on Marlonâ??s suggestion for the band name. Marlon smiled when he realized that Joseph for once, agreed on one of his ideas.

â??One day weâ??ll be as big as James Brown! Or Stevie Wonder!â? Michael cheered.

â??Now, Michael. Donâ??t be jumping to conclusions.â? Katherine told, ending the happiness.

â??Katherine, he can think that if he wants. Hey, maybe heâ??s right.â?

â??Well, what if he isnâ??t right? His pride would be crushed and-â??

â??Katie, let them have this. Please?â?

â??Okay, but just for now.â?

Then the happiness started up again, so much that they all started singing and dancing. Joseph was proud of his boyâ??s.

Then Katherine was reminded of something. â??Wait!â?

The singing and dancing stopped.

â??Joseph, we donâ??t have enough money for equipment.â?

â??Iâ??ll scrape up some money.â?

â??That money is for our food!â?

â??Weâ??ll still have enough money for food. Donâ??t worry. Weâ??ll get the equipment and still have a little bit of money left to get food.â?

â??Promise?â?

â??I promise.â?

And as Joseph promised, he got the equipment and had enough money left to last them a few weeks. It was two weeks later when Joseph thought they were ready to perform.

This was the line-up:
Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, Michael. (Oldest-Youngest)

But, Michael was the little boy who was the 40-year-old midget. He danced like James Brown would, but he was so small that you would think that would be impossible for a 5-year-old to dance like that. He was amazing. It makes you wonder if his brothers were jealous of him? (we still don't know if they were.)

â??Okay, boyâ??sâ?¦I got us a spot for a talent show next week.â?

â??Really?! You think were ready?â? Jermaine wondered.

â??Of course. You boyâ??s have practiced a lot and showed a lot of courage and perspective.â? Joseph told them how many hours they would be practicing everyday, who would be doing what, and how he expected them to behave and be the best. Joseph expected them to be 1st place in every single talent show.

â??No, Marlon! Thatâ??s not how you should spin. Michael, show him.â? Joseph scolded

Michael did a perfect spin.

â??Like that, Marlon. Do it right!â? Joseph demanded.

Finally, Joseph said, â??Ok, were ready and just in time for the talent show.â?

â??Were leaving now?â? Katherine asked.

â??Yes, are you ready?â?

â??Yes, but more importantly are the boyâ??s ready?

â??Were ready, Mother.â?

And so, the large family piled into the car and headed to the show............
