They painted her secrets Whispering what she should have known And all the while she was hiding She feared the day They all knew Why didnâ??t she? She would be hiding Behind the lies Behind the blade They pulled at her stitches Examined her scars Shaking their heads Theyâ??d never understand They didnâ??t know But they empathised With every hug They pressed their lips against her Stole a part of her For their own sympathy Because they werenâ??t listening Thatâ??s the least theyâ??ll ever give her The most sheâ??d ever have Then to turn their backs As she comes up for a breath She was drowning in the lies they gave her All the while they were watching But they werenâ??t listening No point in crying She can only bleed now While they kept talking Her wounded hands out She was screaming Trying hard to reach them To take a grip But theyâ??d let go So she fell alone While we all cry Because she wasnâ??t listening
