So Lovely(PART29) by Candice

Around 15 minutes later, we arrived at the UCLA medical center. I was crying hard 
now. Michael was crying too and I could tell he had hard time breathing. LaToya and 
Jermaine held me back as they transported Michael into the operating room. They 
had to take the bullets off right away. He was shot near the chest and somewhere 
near the shoulder. I felt LaToya hug me and rub my back. I was crying in her arms. 
â??Is he going to be okay?â? I asked the surgeon who was rushing into the operating 
room. â??Weâ??re going to do our best.â? He answered without even looking at me.

Hours have passed and the media was starting to crowd outside the hospital. Some 
were hushing here and there. Marlon and Tito arrived shortly after we did. â??Whereâ??s 
mother?â? LaToya asked Tito. â??Sheâ??s resting. She almost felt like she was going to 
pass out. Jackie and Janet are with her.â? Marlon gave me a hug. â??Itâ??s going to be 
alright.â? I gave him a faint smile. I was getting nervous by the minute. What was 
going on inside the operating room? I suddenly thought of Ralph. Whatever had 
gotten into him, he was sure to be going to jail for what he did. Time was beginning 
to run slow and this caused me to sleep in the waiting room. Jermaine was calling 
Katherine now and then. Joe followed a bit later to check too. LaToya was sitting 
down beside me and she was drinking coffee. It was already almost midnight when 
the surgeon emerged out of the operating room. â??Heâ??s alright. He needs to stay for 
a week or two for the stitches to heal. Weâ??re gonna have to treat him with antibiotics 
too so that infection will be avoided.â? He was smiling. Jermaine shook his hand. 
Everyone said thank you. At that point when I felt like my world was going to 
shatter, I have been brought back to life. â??Heâ??s sedated at the moment but heâ??ll be 
awake in no time. You may see him in his room in an hour.â? The doctor added. I 
approached the doctor and gave him a hug. â??Thank you so much.â? He pulled away 
and I could tell that he was proud. â??Itâ??s our job.â? He walked away.

An hour laterâ?¦

We went altogether to Michaelâ??s hospital room. LaToya brought flowers and a basket 
of fruits. Michael was sleeping. I rushed to his side and kissed him on the forehead. 
â??I love you.â? I whispered into his ears. I sat on an armchair that was near the bed. 
â??Tito and Jermaine will be outside. Just approach them if you need anything. Iâ??ll be 
back tomorrow morning.â? LaToya kissed me on the cheek and gave me a quick hug. 
Minutes later, I was alone in the room with Michael. I was dozing off from time to 
time.

It was already 4am when Michael woke up. â??Candice?â? His voice was almost like a 
whisper. I stood up and looked at him. â??Thank god, youâ??re alright. How do you feel? 
Do you feel any pain?â? I was stroking his cheek and kissing him. He held my hand 
and smiled. â??No. The painâ??s gone. Please donâ??t leave me.â? He seemed to beg. â??Of 
course not. Iâ??ll be right here. Go back to sleep, you need to rest.â? I smiled at him 
and kissed him on the forehead. â??I missed you.â? He said pulling me closer to him. He 
was rubbing his nose against my nose. I let out a giggle. â??I missed you more.â? He 
went back to sleep and I made my way out to get a cup of coffee. I asked Jermaine 
to watch over Michael while I was gone. â??Sure, go ahead. Tito and I will be here.â? He 
smiled at me and went inside the room.
