Love In The Spotlight : (Part 1)
The year is 1970.My name is Starlight Riddle and I'm 12 years old.I'm in a singing group with my sisters and brothers.I'm the head singer in the group.There's 10 of us in all but only 7 are in the act.All together as a family there's 12 of us.Shannon and Walker Riddle our are parents.There both 47.The oldest of their 10 children is my older brother Richard,but we call him Ricky and he's 19.Next in line is my sister Jennet who's 18.After her are my twin sisters Libby and Tibby who are 17.Then is my other brother Michael who is 16.After him is my other sister Katey who is 14.After Katey is me.After me are the tripplest Sammy,Tammy,and Cammy.Sammy and Cammy are boys.Tammy is the girl in there little trio.There all 10 years of age.The one's of us that are in the group are Tibby and Libby as the back up singers.Me on lead vocals.Ricky on gutair,Michael on base gutair,Sammy on drums,and Cammy on keybord.All together that's 7 of us.We call ourselfs "The Starlights".The other 3 just stay at home.They said its because they don't wanna be in it and that there's to many of us in the group already.Our father said its because they have no talent.I think we all have our own sepcial talent.Like Tammy can draw like a profecinal artist,Katey can desing cloths that are fit for the run-way,and Jennet can crack a code and put a puzzle together quicker than you can blink.She's the smart one. We live in Encino,California on Wallnut Street.A lot of big stars lived on our street like Berry Gordy,Diana Ross,and The Jackson 5.We have know Diana and Mr.Gordy for 1 years now and The Jackson 5 for 2 months now.We singed with Mowtown 1 year befor The Jackson 5.We were Mr.Gordy's top act.When they came we seen how good they were and we knew we had competition.After a while or so we just started to let it go and became more friendly with eachother.Our families still aren't really close and we don't know much about them other than there good and there rising fast.In one week on Friday we had to bring them onto our show called "The Starlight TV Show",which was Mr.Gordy's idea.1 month ago Dianna Ross presented them on her show and now it was our turn. Today my brothers,sisters,and I had to go to TV studio where we would meet with The Jackson 5 to go over what we were going to do on the show when we present the next Friday.We would have to get it all down in 5 day's because on the 6th day was dress rehersal and on the 7th day was the show so we didn't have that much time but we had to make it work. It was 6:30am and we just woke up.Our father said we had 40 minuts to get ready cause we had to be at the studio at 7:20 or so and we would meet up with the Jacksons there.I got up and brushed my hair then put on my red sun dress because it was kind of hot outside today.I made sure Cammy and Sammy were ready then we went dowstairs were we seen Michael,Tibby,Libby,and Ricky along with our father waiting on us.We ate a bowl of serial and got into our van.We were all still a little tired because we were up all night last night practicing.We had a tour comming up soon and Father wanted us to be perfect. We finally arived at Motown TV Studio's.That's were all the Motown stars that have there own show like Diana Ross brodcast from.She's on set 3 and where on set 5.We get to our set to see Mr.Jackson and his son's Jackie,Jermain,Tito,Marlon,and Michael standing on our stage looking around.When they see us they wave a little bit and and we wave back.We walked up on stage to greet them.We all shook hands and gave fake smiles because we knew both groups were good and we were in compition to stay on top.The Jackson 5 had a new song out called "I Want You Back" who topped #1 on the charts and pushed us into #2. Father:Hey Joe.How are you? Mr.Jackson:I'm fine Walker.And you? Father:Fine.Thoes are some talented kids you got there. Mr.Jackson:Thank you.Same to you.Would you mind showing us around you set? Father:No.Not at all.I'll show you around.Um,Tibby,show Jaermain around. Tibby:(smiling)No problem Father. Father:Libby,you show Jackie around. Libby:Yes sir. Father:Ricky,you show Tito around. Ricky:OK. Father:Starlight,You take Michael and Sammy and Cammy,you take Marlon. Me,Sammy,and Cammy:Yes sir. Be all get with who our father said to get with and split.We all went didderent ways.I took Michael and we heaed down a hallway. Michael:Um,Hi. Me:Hi. Michael:Were are we going? Me:I'm going to show you the sound booth. Michael:What's that? Me:Where they make the sounds that go on our show. Michael:Do you mean like the sound effects? Me:Yep.That's exactly what they are. Michael:Oh.I have a question that I have been meaning to ask you but I haven't had a chance to yet. Me:What is it? Michael:Is your name really Starlight? Me:Yes.Why? Michael:Well I though it might of been your stage name.Like how Jackie's stage name is Jackie.His real name is Sigmund. Me:Oh.Wow.His real name is Sigmund? Michael:Yep.Tito's real name is Toriano. Me:Wow.Is your name really Michael? Michael:(giggling)Yes. Me:(smiling)Good.I know my name is weird.It's so different.Starlight is like a stage name huh? Michael:Yeah.How come you name is different? Me:I don't know.I'm just different.All my brothers and sisters have brown hair.I have black.There hair is short.I'm is long.There hair is stright.Mine is cruly.There eyes are black.My eyes are brown.There all kind of light.I'm tan.All of there noses are kind of,well,wide.Mine is small.The only thing we have in commen is that we are all black and white and our lips are the same. Michael:Wow.You are different. Me:(laughing)Thank you. Michael:I'm sorry.I ment that its good to be different. Me:I don't see how.I feel like an outcast. Michael:I know how you feel. Me:Really? Michael:Yeah. For a second we looked into eachothers eyes but quickly looked away.We were to shy.I started to blush and looked down so he wouldn't see my face ture red.I never really had a crush on Michael but I think he looks cute today. Me:Um,well heres the sound booth. Michael:Wow.Look at all of these buttons. Me:Yep.Eachone makes a sound. Michael:Can I push one? Me:Sure. Michael pushes a red button on the sound panel and a dog bark went off. Michael:Wow. Me:Yep.I would say that this is were the magic happenes but it all goes out on stage. Michael:Yeah.I really like your show.Its funny. Me:Thank you. Michael:I'm really going to enjoy doing the show with you. Me:(smiling and blushing)Same here. To be continued...
