Show Me What Love Feels Like Ch. 23
Sorry I haven't been posting lately. Busy with school and marching band, etc. Enjoy!! ---------------------------------------------------------------- *Recall: Misty leaves Michael and decides to make a new life for herself without him. Years have passed since I had seen Michael, and ever since I had walked out of his mansion, my life had changed for the better. It was the year 2000, and I became a different person. I was no longer the weak, dependent teenager that I once was. I was now a woman with more maturity and more dignity and more pride. I was then twenty three years old, and I was then finishing my years of college, majoring in literature and minoring in the English language. Ever since the year 1996, my life had shifted back on track and for once in my life, I found a way to earn money for myself in a positive and in a non-degrading way by working as an eleventh grade English teacher during the day and a poet by night. I owned my own decent apartment in San Diego, and eventually I earned enough money for a nice Honda Accord. I was an independent woman who learned to live on my own successfully. Overall, I was happy to live such a different wonderful life and I was glad to refresh myself, but some nights, I would lay and wonder about Michael. I was bitter and angry towards him, and sometimes I wished that I would take my angry words back, but I knew that it was too late to do that. There have been some nights where I have cried because I had missed him so much and that I had regret how harsh I had treated him. Deep in my heart, I still loved him. I did have a boyfriend at the time, named Stanley, who happened to be my co-worker. He worked as a Spanish teacher and we had met through some students. We had been seeing each other for four months, and I was really interested in him, but none of his love could compare to the love that Michael had given me. Michael was, and would always be my only true love. One Saturday afternoon, I sat on my coffee table grading my students' persuasive essays and drinking a mug of coffee when my doorbell rung. "Coming! Just wait a minute!" I yelled as I ran to my room to put on a robe since I only had on underwear. Quickly I ran to the door, and my eyes have had to deceive me. It was Michael. "W-Wh..." I was dumbfounded. "Misty," he said as he smiled his gorgeous smile that I had always loved. "W-W..." He didn't respond to my stutters. Instead, he ran in to hug me and hold me tightly. I was still suprised of his sudden appearance, especially after four long years. "I miss you so much." he said. "I-I miss you too, Michael," I whispered, still out of disbelief. "How did you know I was here?" "I have my ways." he said with a smirk. "Wanna come in?" I asked, not wanting to be rude. "Don't mind if I do." Michael had still looked handsome, even though he had matured. He was now forty-two, his hair was cut shorter and his voice was deeper than before. He was more of a man and his maturity was a bit of a turn-on for me. "My, have you grown!" Michael exclaimed as he laid his hand on my shoulder while he had smiled. "So have you," I replied giggling. "I bought you something." He handed me a box of one of my favorite candies: chocolate caramel turtles. "Aww!" I gasped. "I knew that those were always you're favorite." "You never forgot. Thank you...so much." We just stood there with an awkward silence in between us. I just got caught into his eyes, and he got caught into mine. It felt like the very first night we met. I was reunited with the love of my life. "Look, Mike. I know that the last time I talked to you...I-I was bitter and angry, and I just want to apologize if I had ever hurt you, because you know, I was young, I was stupid, and I was a dumb child, but since then...I've matured and I have grown.." "No, don't apologize. I understand why you were angry, in fact I don't blame you." Michael then slowly leaned in and gave me a soft kiss on the cheek. The kiss was warm and sweet. It brought a smile to my face. Just as we stood, Stanley had entered in with his key. "Hello, sugar baby," Stanley greeted me as he kissed me on the lips. "Hey babe, this is my old friend Michael, Michael, this is my boyfriend, Stanley." "Hello, Michael. Nice meeting you." "Nice meeting you too," Michael kindly greeted back. "Hey, sweetie, where did you get those chocolates from?" he asked, pointing to the box of chocolate turtles in my hand. I didn't want to tell him that Michael had gotten them for me, so I had lied. "Oh, I had gotten them from the store, where I had just came from, I just had a craving for turtles," I said, giggling nervously. "Oh, ok. Well, babe, I had made us reservations to LeBeaux tonight. They have the best wines there. I want us to have a romantic night tonight, since it is almost five months." "Aww, honey. Y-You didn't have to do that." I felt uneasy talking to Stanley about our relationship in front of Michael. I could sense that Michael felt a bit jealous. "Oh, honey, I wanted to. After all, you're my cute little buttercup." "Um, I should go." Michael said in between mine and Stanley's sweet conversation. "Aw, Mike you just got here," I said, disappointed. "Yeah I know, but I-I have some errands to run. I'll see you later." He then closed the door and from the window, I could see his gloomy face. It had broken my heart... TBC...
