Tough Love Part 84
*On the behalf of the votes for the stories being posted, Iâ??d like to thank you all. Michael would be overwhelmed by this. And itâ??s also great to know that we make these stories with different versions of his life. God bless~Aariyan :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Chapter 84 My Whereabouts I got away with a lot last night. We both did. But that does not mean it came without a price. I went to sleep, but I got up early this morning. What kept me up was that I wasnâ??t sure how Michael perceived me to be. Then I wasnâ??t sure how he REALLY like his partners and what he shows for the media. Either way Iâ??m not sure. For all I know, he might like girls who are pretty and elegantâ??like Brooke Shields. But me, Iâ??m just a rookie from the block. The underdog as usual with short hair. Yeah I may have a quick wit, but heâ??s seen my temper as well. And I donâ??t wanna be Michaelâ??s â??good time girlâ? either. Iâ??m far from it. Thereâ??s more to me than that. Thatâ??s why I like to hang with M.J. At least thereâ??s a commitment between us. When I saw Michael asleep, I wanted to tell him all of thisâ?¦but as I sat against the wall, I decided not to. He goes with the flow, so Iâ??m going to too. But first I need to gurgle and wipe my lips. Itâ??s not right for me to be kissing Michael and M.J. Just thinking about it turns my stomach. Then I remember today is my old friend, Tiger Tsunamiâ??s, birthday. THAT didnâ??t make me feel any better! But after I cleaned out my mouth and was about to call and see if M.J. wanted to go to the beach and play some volleyball, Mom stops me. â??Hey, I wanted to know how were things for you last night?â? â??I was fine.â? â??You werenâ??t scared were you?â? she smiled. â??No, I was fine.â? â??Your dad and I made another stop before we got home.â? â??Okay.â? She was already cooking breakfastâ?¦like normal. Ugh this feels so WEIRD! â??Will you get your dad and Michael for me?â? â??Sure.â? Guess M.J. has to wait on this call. I was walking to Michaelâ??s room, but he was already walking out. Itâ??s like I looked at him with relief because I didnâ??t want to disturb him. But we smiled when we saw each other, and I saw that genuine smile on his face when his teeth shows and I see the mini-facial wrinkles under his eyes. I could tell he was in good spirits. I motion for him to wake Dad up, but he points for me to. When I shake my head in defiance, he opens the door, grabs me by the arms and places me in Dadâ??s room. So I end up waking him up for me, Michael, and Mom. When we go downstairs, Michael and I catch each otherâ??s eye. He gives me a side-grin and plops in the chair I would sit in when he would originally take my seat at the opposite end of Dadâ??who seats at the head of the table. So I sit across from him and Mom sits in my original seat: which is across from Dad. Dad sits in his regular seat. I was doing my best not to look at Mom. Michael made me feel better when I felt his feetâ??which were covered with socksâ??on MY bare feet. I tried not laughing. Heâ??s TOO daring. Weâ??Michael and Iâ??wash the dishes as my parents leave the room. I tried to keep my laughter low as we kept blowing bubbles on one another. And we kept bumping each otherâ??s hip. â??Hey, Michael and I are going to hang for a little. Weâ??ll be back later.â? â??Okay.â? Now I have to be left withâ?¦her. Before they leave I hug Dad. And Michael and I are only allowed to wave in our minds, so we do. Mom shuts the door behind them. And then itâ??s final. â??Sit on the couch for me. Iâ??ll be right back.â? â??Okay.â? So I sit there. Mom comes back with red polish. â??Do my nails look bad?â? She laughs. â??No. Iâ??ll touch up the filing of them, but I just think they need a touch of polish on them.â? â??Ohhkay.â? â??Soâ?¦you like this MJ guy.â? â??Yeah, heâ??s in my grade.â? â??No, no THAT MJ! You know Iâ??m talking about Michael.â? â??Ohâ?¦.Well heâ??s nice. Overall I like him around you.â? She finishes my big right toe. â??Just done go falling for him.â? she smiles real quick. â??I wish everyone would stop telling me that.â? But when she looks at me, I laugh. â??He has it for you, hunh?â? â??I donâ??t know.â? I shrug. â??My daughter has what I have. He SHOULD like you.â? she wraps her arm around my shoulder as we walk from the couch. â??Come on.â? We go to my room. Mom goes straight for me closet and starts pulling out stuff. â??What youâ??re going to do today, you donâ??t need no jeans on.â? â??Why not? She gives me a side-way glance. â??Because youâ??re a girl. Girls need to show off their legs sometimes.â? â??But you donâ??t like to show yours.â? â??Yours are skinny, but it works for you because youâ??re younger.â? Excuses, excuses, as she would tell me. I go up and see what she might choose. â??Usually I wouldnâ??t say this, but how about this one.â? I look in the closet, and she lays the outfit on the bed. Itâ??s a thick black and white checkerboard knit top with the back out. My black skirt originally reaches my knees. I turn to my black flats and hold them up. â??No you are not wearing those. Youâ??re wearing high-heels. THAT is a skirt.â? â??But my legs are already out. Any other girl would wear these.â? â??Thatâ??s any other girl. Alaric, youâ??re wearing heels!â? â??Fine then.â? I go in my closet and find my Classical pair of Espadrille shoes that Dad got shipped from Bangladesh a few years ago. â??What about these?â? â??Okay, now youâ??re trying my patience.â? â??Remember, you grew to like these. Theyâ??re black.â? â??NO, Lyric.â? â??Now, itâ??s time to accessories!â? She loves accessories, but Iâ??m still in my closet, trying to figure out my footwear. Then I find themâ??my black Converse. They have blackâ?¦and white in them. She canâ??t hold this against me forever. â??What about these?â? â??LYRIC!â? â??Theyâ??re not high-tops.â? â??Put those back.â? â??But I like them.â? â??LYRIC!â? The phone rings. I look at her. She looks at me. She answers the phone. I could tell it was Dad. I go over to the outfit and press it against me. She already wants me to wear this, which Iâ??m growing to the idea all over again. Now I should wear some flat shoes to stand out. I want to do a crossover of feminine and tomboyish. I can wear both. She hangs up as I find my ankle necklace. â??Now youâ??re wearing those heels you have.â? â??They got too small.â? â??No they didnâ??t.â? â??I had those for a long time.â? â??What about the ones thatâ??s open-toed.â? Itâ??s the same ones I wore when Michael, me, and my friends went to that poetry slam and my period was on that night. Plus my hair was still jet-black â??Those arenâ??t any better.â? â??LYRIC!â? â??Mom, I just donâ??t want to wear those!!!â? I point at them. â??Iâ??m wearing a skirt two days in a row!â? She folds her arms, shakes her head, and walk out the room. I guess thatâ??s a yes. But anyways, I get my underwear and as Iâ??m heading for the bathroom, she comes back to the room. I get out as fast as I can and put on the outfit. â??If you donâ??t want all your back out, you can wear this.â? She hands me my black trendy, half jacket for these kinds of occasions. I put it on briefly until she changes her mind. â??But it might look better without it. And donâ??t forget about having your collar straight.â? She straightens it for me. â??I already did it, Mom.â? â??I knowâ?¦.â? She pats my back. â??Iâ??m just making sure itâ??s straight.â? â??But I can wear it.â? â??We can just take it out the house, just in case.â? â??Okay.â? I go over to the shoes. â??But if youâ??re going to wear those, you donâ??t need to wear any socks. Itâ??s getting a little chilly anyways.â? Then why am I wearing this? â??I was going to wear my white ankle socks, you wonâ??t be able to see it.â? She already protesting with me. â??At LEAST where your black socks.â? Fine! â??Alright.â? â??Theyâ??ll camouflage better.â? â??Okay.â? She puts the lotion on my back and I do my arms, legs, neck, hands. You get the point. So much for my toes being polished, though. I thought about a necklace, but I decided against it. I tried M.J.â??s but it didnâ??t look right. So I sneak to Michaelâ??s room and find his fedora on the nightstand and I smile as I get it. I go to my room and tip it to the right. â??Perfect,â? I whisper as I arch my back to the left and bend my right leg. Iâ??m striking poses as Mom walks back to the room. â??Un-uh,â? she snatches the hat off. I brush my hair down, which I had already done. I have it curly like Roman noodles again, so when she does that, I frown a little. â??Tacky.â? She says. â??I know, but I just like it.â? â??Whose is this?â? â??Michaelâ??s. What time is it?â? â??Eleven fifty. Why, do you have somewhere to go?â? â??Iâ??m just asking.â? Mom puts some make-up on me. She doesnâ??t need to emphasis my eyebrows since theyâ??re already thick in my opinion, so luckily she leaves those alone. â??Pictures!â? â??Urgh,â? I mumble but we start laughing. I take a few downstairs. Before we leave, I watch the Dating Game episode with Farrah Fawcett from the 1969 episode. I enjoyed the episode, but in the end, I had an uneasy feeling about watching it. Like it was an omen or something. â??Where are we going?â? I ask when it goes off. â??Youâ??ll see.â? Then she smiles. Mom is wearing a top where her shoulders show, flare legs, and heels. Her hair is down and pretty. She puts on her shades and hands me Dadâ??s Aviators. She always say theyâ??re too big for her face, but she wears them rarely. â??Ready?â? â??No,â? I laugh. She sets the alarm, and when we go out the door. I see the limo but it doesnâ??t faze me because Michael msutâ??ve requested it for us. But I donâ??t plan on spending the whole day with her either. I know that sounds cold, but letâ??s just say I havenâ??t been cured yet like we all should be. Plus we hadnâ??t even talked about Quentin Dempsey yet. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: A surprise comes next ;P, Aariyan. But I named this chapter what I named it b/c it seems everybody else knows where Lyric is going to be going today except Lyric!
