Tough Love Part 51
Iâ??m gonna keep it up :) & I meant to say that the seafood restaurant was to their RIGHT on the last part. My B. :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) Chapter 51 Long Sunday. I woke up from the BEST sleep Iâ??ve had in so long of a while. Before I was to be sleep, I knew I would get up some crazy hour, but I truly didnâ??t know what time I would wake, and since things havenâ??t been too great for me, Iâ??ll basically reiterate I didnâ??t care. But when I finally did, one of the first things I did was look at my alarm clock: around two. I yawned, stretched, and not too long later, I went down the stairsâ??slowly. The phone rings, and I go for it. Iâ??m still waking up, person!! â??Hello?â? Pause. â??Alaric?â? Now I pause. â??Mom?â? â??Hey. Why didnâ??t you call me yesterday? You know my birthday. Why didnâ??t you call?â? She says this in a quiet tone, but Iâ??m not convinced that her soft tone is going to win me over, so I have to SNATCH a breath because she suddenly made me mad. â??I did callâ??twice! You never answered.â? Long pause. â??Well thank you.â? â??Happy birthday.â? â??Youâ??re welcome,â? she says by mistake, then laughs. â??No, you mean youâ??re welcome.â? She says. â??Yep. Well, uh, I gotta take a shower. Iâ??m kind of dirty.â? â??Oh yeah, your dad told me you were going to wake up late. How was the ballâ?¦on my birthday.â? I didnâ??t want to answer. â??Oh it was fine andâ??â? â??Your dad went with that girl Shaun?â? â??Yup. But I guess Iâ??ll have to tell you later when I have more time.â? â??Okay, bye Lyr.â? â??Bye.â? I hung up. And took a breath. And turned around. And there was Michael, looking like he just decided now was the right time to walk into the kitchen with me. â??Dad?â? I asked him. â??Heâ??s out.â? â??REALLY? With who?â? â??Just out. But I asked him if it was okay if you went to my house. Randy turned seventeen today.â? I stood there, a little shocked. REALLY? â??You have nothing us better to do.â? â??Uh, school work!â? I squealed. â??Uh, live a little! Not like you have too much, Iâ??m sure Lyric. For me.â? He sticks his bottom lip out. â??Oh, whatever!â? I say. Iâ??m wearing a simple tee with a gray vest. I have on shorts and some patent suede shoes. The Jacksons donâ??t celebrate birthdays because of the Jehovah faith, but regardless, I was happy to eat a cupcake with Randy. â??Soâ?¦how are things with you and my brother?â? â??Good,â? I couldnâ??t hide my smile. â??What do yâ??all do?â? â??All we do IS hangout.â? He sits there. â??Oh,â? he says and keeps biting in his cake. His cupcake. â??But, what about you?â? â??What about me?â? â??Whatâ??cha gonna do now that youâ??re with your brothers? In the band I mean.â? â??Breakout and do my best, I guess. Jermaine isnâ??t too happy, but what do you get when youâ??re the youngest brother? Michael always had me by three steps, so I guess thatâ??s why you like him more.â? He gets up and walks out the room. Iâ??m eating a fruit salad with the Jackson girlsâ??Jan, Kat, and LaToya. Things are silent at first. â??We have your two other dresses, Lyric.â? Janet says. Sheâ??s talking about the dress from my party a month ago and the one I was to wear to â??The Wizâ? premiere. They were gracious enough to get it dried-clean for me. â??Thanks,â? I smile. We pause again until Janet brings up something else. â??You know youâ??re stirring up stuff in Hollywood. So far, the publicâ??s seen you go to TWO major events with Michael. You know they think youâ??re dating. Him.â? she slides a newspaper article to me. Actually, it made first page. â??SWANâ??S DAUGHTER OR COINCIDENCE?â? The article goes on about Iâ??m the same young lady Michael showed up with to his first, official movie premiere with. The article says we havenâ??t done any interviews, so they donâ??t know the truth. They also said the â??Jacksonâ? (Michael) must have made a swift recovery to forget about Tatum and show up with me. I look away from the article, thinking about my own eight grade social studies teacher, Mrs. Tatum. â??Sorry,â? I look at Katherine. â??No, itâ??s OKAY.â? She says. â??Iâ??m just happy to see him with someone else. Youâ??re sure youâ??re not dating him?â? â??No.â? â??Not interested.â? â??You ask your son!â? I said with a laugh. Then we just laughed. Even LaToya. Just like in the movies, the guy, of course Michael!, walks into the room. â??Whatâ??s so funny, ladies?â? â??Nothing,â? we say. â??Stick!â? Janet adds. He looks at me. I look back at him. He walks over to me, shoves me out my seat a little, then scoot me over by the waist. In my mind, they egged him on. â??Michael, I KNOW you know these articles exist.â? Janet hands it to him next. â??Here,â? she says. So he reads it, then looks at me. â??Well, if the public thinks itâ??s true, we mightâ??as well give them what they want.â? â??Yeah, the â??Taming of the Shrewâ??.â? I bopped him aside the head and walked away. Hope he knows I just referenced Shakespeare. When Michael and I left, Randy and I left on a good note. I told him I was sorry if I offended him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. â??Yeah, I thought so,â? he laughs. â??Happy birthday,â? I whisper in his ear. â??Donâ??t tell your mom I said that.â? â??Why would I?â? Michael and I got back sometime after six. Dad was running around in this suit. â??Whatâ??s up?â? I asked. â??Thereâ??s this promise I made Cooper. I said I would take him to dinner the next day after heâ??s basically sworn in. Wanna go?â? Hell no. â??Kay, get dressed.â? â??But, I didnâ??t even get to answer.â? â??Michael can go, too.â? â??What about yesterday? You didnâ??t take him anywhere?â? â??No, I was still at the ball. I promised him today.â? â??Why arenâ??t you dressed casual?â? I ask. â??Just in case weâ??re photographed. You know someone at the restaurant will have a camera. Plus you need to wear your Sundayâ??s Best.â? â??I donâ??t know what to wear. I donâ??t even go to church enough I guess. What to wear?â? â??Something, just no jeans, Lyric.â? Then he mumbles, â??Dammit,â? probably cursing me. I find my black long shirt with a V-collar shape. I wear dress pants and black heels. My hair is still the same, since I know it can sustain itself for at least a week. â??Why do you look like youâ??re always going to a funeral? Where something else.â? â??But your suit is dark.â? â??Dark gray. And I have on a green emerald tie. Pick something else out. And a dressâ?¦PLEASE!â? â??Ugh, I wore one yesterday. Isnâ??t thatâ??â? â??Just change.â? â??enough? Fine.â? He walks away, so I go through the tough process again. Then I lightly knock on Michaelâ??s door. â??Yeah?â? â??I look at his outfit.â? â??Cool,â? and I start to walk away. â??What?â? he asks. â??No, I just need to know what I should change into. So I decided to match with you.â? He looks surprised then smiles. â??Okay. I didnâ??t want to bring a suit once I came here to stay, but I was highly recommended. Guess I got lucky.â? â??You sure did.â? I touch his shoulder. â??Iâ??ll be right back.â? Then I walk away with more inspiration and a hop. I feel him staring at me so I turn around and walk up to him, pointing my finger in his chest with the left one on my hip. â??And donâ??t be looking at my booty.â? Michael laughs again. I look in my mirror, and Iâ??m standing in my white tank, cute black skirt that goes above the knees, but itâ??s a high-set skirt so itâ??s fine. I decided to try this new look Iâ??ve seen: heels with some leg warmers Danielle bought me. Everything happens to be black except the skirt and hoop earrings. I even have on a zebra bracelet! â??Like thatâ??s any better,â? Dad says when he sees me, and when he sees Michael somewhat casual khakis outfit, heâ??s kinda ticked now. â??Well, I thought about something else, but it might look too silly.â? I later learned he wanted to wear this blouse with shorter pants and patent leather pants, but he didnâ??t do it. â??Hey, but I know thereâ??s something you could do for me.â? â??What?â? â??Your fedora,â? I smile. â??Gotcha,â? and he runs back upstairs. Dad only eyes me and I laugh. â??What restaurant are we going to?â? â??A MANLY restaurant?â? I look at Michael whoâ??s sitting in the passanger seat. â??Which isâ?¦â? â??Ponderosa or Bonanza Steakhouse. Same thing.â? â??That steakhouse place?â? I like steak butâ?¦my stomach canâ??t hold all that! Even the fact that the last thing I ate was a fruit salad doesnâ??t help me right now. I fall back in the cushions of Sally, my dadâ??s white Mustang. He takes as much pride in the car like he takes for me. Probably why when I saw Cooperâ??s blue one, I struck a chord with me; and thatâ??s probably why my dad do good on the job when it comes to catching the speeders.. I look at Michael, whoâ??s anti-meat, but heâ??ll figure something out. Dylan Cooper is wearing a white nice shirt, black tie, a black vest, and nice shiny shoes. Heâ??s wearing a fedora, too. My heart beats and I sweat when I see how heâ??s leaned back against the wall with no worry, and how he tips his head up to look at us is priceless. Now I just want himâ?¦I think. â??Swan, hey.â? They give the friendly pat. He and Michael shakes hands. Now itâ??s me left. I try to ignore dad from the corner of my eye. Dylan Cooper does his best to hug me in a respectful way. Itâ??s not brief, but itâ??s not long either. â??Come on,â? Dad directs us to a table. If itâ??s not obvious enough, Michael and I sit by each other. Iâ??m on the end and Donovan, I mean Dylan, sits across from Michael, so Dad is in front of me. Michael gets a small meal and I get something not so small since Dylan mocked me a little. â??The steak is too much, huh?â? he asks with a laugh. â??â?¦Sure.â? Throughout the meal, I learned Dylan is from Canada. When he says that, I wonder whatâ??s up with me and my guys who comes from Canada. Donovan says he is, too. He says his dad is Greek and he lives out of state. Indeed, heâ??s twenty-two. I asked his birthday. He says itâ??s April 19th. Dad says Iâ??m good with birthdays, which I amâ?¦when it comes to remembering. Thatâ??s how I knew a month ago; Michaelâ??s been twenty for a month. Today, itâ??s been two months. â??Have any brothersâ?¦or sisters?â? Michael asks. I probably know what heâ??s getting at. â??Yeah, but he didnâ??t feel like coming. Actually, he said he had some practice with his band. Teenagers.â? â??REALLY? Whatâ??s the name?â? I ask. â??Like I keep up with that. Just like he keeps up with my job. Orlando is trying to be this musical major or something. Dad put his guitar up years ago. It was Dâ??, I mean Orlando who decided to get the guitar out the closet. Now heâ??s trying to hit it big.â? â??Oh,â? I say, and smile to make him feel better. Everyone is in conversation again when I see him slip this white pill in his mouth. â??Sorry, itâ??s just for my heartburn.â? He says. Probably all that steak. Dad goes to the bathroom, so the three of us go outside. I have the keys for Michael and I to get in the car, but Dylan Cooper follows. He walks up to Michael. â??Dude, I donâ??t know why you always have to latch on like some kind of nat. Get the hell out the way.â? He says. â??Plus she wore this for ME.â? He wraps his arm around my waist. Michael steps in his face. â??Get your arm AWAY from her.â? He doesnâ??t. So Michael grabs my wrist and I think heâ??s heading to tell Dad. â??What, so now youâ??re gonna runaway like a little BITCH?â? Michael turns around. Heâ??s walking up to Dylan, when I have to get between the two of them. â??STOP!â? I say. I think God was looking over us because Dylan starts to look scared, but in a phony way. â??Itâ??s the meds,â? he says. I pull Michael away. We walk back to the car as Dad comes out here. â??Cooper?!â? he calls. â??Why heâ??s walking away?â? he asks us. â??I donâ??t know,â? I shrugged. When I Dad walks to talk to him, and Iâ??m in the car, Iâ??m thinking that with his hair like the way it is, he reminds me of Bob Dylan. Small worldâ?¦. If â??thisâ? Bob Dylan wasnâ??t so disrespectful to Michael, I would wanna see him again. Itâ??s clear now to me and Michael that he likes me. Or he wants to get in my panties. Would I let him? No. I couldnâ??t. Donovan is at bay with me; other than our intense make-out sessions in the past. I mean, Iâ??m sitting behind MICHAEL JACKSON! Not like I let my underwear down for him, so why would I for this guy who is soâ?¦soâ?¦smooth. Dammit, screw that, SUAVE! You know, I didnâ??t elaborate TOO much in detail with conversation at the table, but heâ??s FANTASTIC at being debatable. He seems like he could take control if I didnâ??t know how toâ?¦.He donâ??t have my interest at heart. Heâ??s just another Quentin, a forbidden element in MY life. ENOUGH of white guys! And Donovan isnâ??t all white either! Maybe these two donâ??t know each otherâ?¦.Plus Cooper, well THIS Cooper, seems like heâ??s into the bad girls; which Iâ??m trying to leave behind me. At least Michael and Don keep me at bay and being good. But HIM on the other hand is nothing but trouble. I think Iâ??ll have him dead in my mind. God, this has been a long Sunday! Iâ??m glad Dad is walking over to the car again. :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) :):) Ladies and gents, this will make more sense later, just stay with it ;) -Aariyan! Plus Hayden Christensen a.k.a. Dylan Cooper really played Bob Dylan in â??Factory Girlâ?. And Iâ??m really sorry about his obnoxious character towards Michael. Remember, the villain never wins! Maybe I should see the movie so it can help him to be smoother. Also, Lyric hair is like Lisaâ??s from â??Americaâ??s Next Top Modelâ? season 5 and she wears a zebra bracelet that say to dinner.
