Tough Love Part 50
Thank you for the votes so far. Hereâ??s more surprises!! ////////////.//////////////.////////////////.////////////////.//////////////.////////////////./////////////////. Chapter 50 Heart-to-Heart I shouldnâ??t have been surprised that this dude would be the next cop in my dadâ??s station. The surprise of it all kinda hit me, and Michael was so already pissed, so what do you expect? Everyone clapped and we were slow to do it, but we did after a few seconds after we looked around. I was freaking out, but I saw Donovan across the room. He smiled at me and I was able to find some ease when I cracked a grateful and shaky smile. Michael and I danced. Out of nowhere, Bootsyâ??s bass comes on as he introduces â??Whatâ??s A Telephone Billâ? from his â??Ahh...The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!â? album. Michaelâ??s grip gets noticeably tighter. Soon, he presses us a little closer. He looks calm and heâ??s moving pretty smooth to the song. Weâ??re actually grinding someâ?¦which is what others seem to be doing in the dark. He starts staring me in the eyes, so I take him on his so-called sexual challenge and stare back. But, itâ??s not like itâ??s blank starings, weâ??re communicating with our eyes, which is so funny to me, but not in a comical way. When Bootsy sounds like he says â??Let me see if I can hit that note againâ?, Michael pelvis seems to get nearer. His head basically falls to my shoulder when â??Iâ??d Rather Be With Youâ? starts and I slide his hands to hold my butt. What, I canâ??t help it! â??Are you drunk?â? I finally ask. I must say, we donâ??t get raunchy! So this is surprising me. He only says ssh and giggles a little. Dad pulls Michael and me over. â??I said you and Michael have a curfew for four.â? I looked at the time, â??But itâ??s already oneâ?¦â? â??No later than five,â? he says. Before Michael and I are finally dismissed, we take a few pictures with Dad, Shaun, and the Bradleys. â??Who is gonna take you home?â? I ask. â??Michaelâ??s other cab people. And Bill will be supervising, so Michael wonâ??t do no funny business. I just donâ??t want you to ever say I never let you live.â? I laughed. You have no idea. Michael and I find each otherâ??s hands and leave behind a bunch of other people. There is a slight mist in the air, and can you BELIEVE it? Paparazzi were still out there. Not a good luck for me or Michael, but what the heck, he was having a good time. I sorta donâ??t care about the rest. I was giving the smile for the public, but then I saw Foster, Foster Sylvers, and he saw me. That caused me to feel badâ?¦for him and me! But when we got in the limo, I quickly close the door behind us, and we immediately cuddle. â??Where you wanna go?â? I whisper to him with my eyes briefly close. â??The beachâ?¦â?he whispers back. â??I was thinking the same,â? I respond. â??Uuh, itâ??s ALWAYS so neat to come out here in the dark. I just love it,â? I say. Michael and I are hand-in-hand at Sunset Beach in Orange County. Donâ??t ask me, but Iâ??m not even SURE of the city; itâ??s just south of L.A. and more importantly, Encino I bet. We stopped in front of the water. Iâ??m breathing in the smells of the water. Michael had me by the waist; of course he was standing behind me. It had gotten a little colder, and of course you can feel thatâ?¦when youâ??re on the beach at early morning times. â??You know when you were asking me if I had been drinking?â? I readjust myself a little, â??â?¦Yeah.â? â??Well, I donâ??t need a help of a drink to make me act this way,â? I slowly look up at him to give us some time to react. Of course I look a little surprised with a smile, and Michael is basically grinning. He kisses my cheek and we stare out at the water. He takes a step forward, but I say, â??Mmm, donâ??t make me tonight.â? I think he was trying to throw me in the water. â??Plus, what do you have against water?â? â??Nothing, it just makes every girl squawk!â? I turn back to face him with my hands on his arms, â??Well, you sure are playful tonight.â? â??Not taking you or myself so serious,â? then he starts to grin again and rock us back and forth. â??Well, my father is like this, if I canâ??t get you home tonight with a smile, I moutsa well not take you out at all.â? â??True,â? I smile. He must be in a really good mood to call Joseph â??Fatherâ? or â??Dadâ?. Soon, Michael sits down, and I feel him doing so â??cause I end up facing the water again, but I follow as he feels his arms direct me down. We end up laying back. I snuggle against his back t make me feel homier, though Iâ??m becoming aware that weâ??re so close. He slips my gloves off for me and kisses me hands. I move his right arm to cross over my left shoulder. Iâ??m glad he gets the motto and grips my stomach and waist with his left hand. â??Soâ?¦whatâ??s your rocker guy? I can tell yâ??all have it deep for each other.â? I sigh, â??Iâ??m just a little girl whoâ??s making a quick transition. I canâ??t believe youâ??re bringing this up right now.â? I say quickly. â??No, I just wanna know what to doâ?¦if I wanted to be your man.â? I turn to him and I know heâ??s a little embarrassed to say that, but Iâ??m glad heâ??s keeping it real. â??Yâ??knowâ?¦all the things your man wonâ??t doâ?¦.â? When he says that, I gotta say thatâ??s the dynamics of my nightâ??probably! So I turn around and sit on his lap to tell my long storyâ?¦ â??Wellâ?¦â? I start off. He makes sure he has his hands around my waist; I look down and giggle a little. â??As you can see, Donovan Cooper is outside my race, but I thought that made us unique as a coupleâ?¦â? â??Were yâ??all?â? I look up at him. â??I guess you can say that. Off and on.â? I quickly add. I let out a deep sigh again. â??When I came back this past March, I met some of my old friends, and Dani and Pat end up being those, and Sherry and I got close again. So of course one of the things girls want to happen is for their friends to recon them to all the qualified guys, and Donovan WAS and STILL is one of them. Sorry,â? I look back at him. â??He just seemed like one of those guys with an ego, but heâ??s NOT! Donovan is just as goofy as anyone else once he opens his mouth sometimes. But heâ??s hard like a man and he has this control about himself that says he WONâ??T be pushed around. He doesnâ??t take himself serious, and heâ??ll LITERALLY pick you up and do all those things you see in the movies. Heâ??s the romantic. Throughout my whole ordeal up north, I must say my fear REALLY left when I was with Donovan. He didnâ??t make it a priority in my life, though I never told him. Itâ??s just something really tender, and I didnâ??t want to freak him out; and if I knew I was gonna be at this beach, sitting on you right now, then I probably never would have told you. I think I just needed to tell someone. I had a feeling you wouldnâ??t care; wouldnâ??t take me serious; have heard something similar, so I guess I didnâ??t care either.â? â??Lyric,â? â??Huh?â? â??I careâ?¦I ALWAYS doâ?¦I guess I wanna do all the things your dad didnâ??t doâ?¦which was and IS protect you.â? He smiles and I can tell he means no arrogance, so I kissed his nose. â??But, I think Donovan feels the same, so Iâ??m sorry.â? â??How can you tell? He doesnâ??t know.â? â??But he could see through me. Don knows me very well, so when he whispers in my ear, itâ??s so natural.â? â??Speaking of him, back to him, what goes down between yâ??all?â? â??Oh my Gosh, Michael?!â? I say. â??Not sex if thatâ??s what you think. Far from it.â? â??Really?â? â??Sort ofâ?¦.â? I giggle. â??I mean, weâ??re affectionate like happy couples. Like some say, â??love and lustâ?? well, I guess I found both.â? He shakes his head. â??Really though, weâ??re still virgins in our relationship and that should make you happy.â? His grip gets tighter. â??It does.â? â??Andâ?¦let me see, well, I remember that Pat and I were just chillinâ??, really doing nothing. So actually, SHE decides to let us go to Jerome Dillardâ??s house. Heâ??s a guy in Donovanâ??s band.â? â??Wha?â? â??Getting to that point,â? I stick my finger out at him to make him wait. â??Pat was trying to find a way to get closer this guy, Austin, and he was in the band, too. She knew it was a win-win situation because she knew I was a little into Donovan, who was freakinâ?? taken, but not a-hundred percent happy with his demanding girl. She felt Donovan would accept me because he was nice to everyone, and he would tease my group of friendsâ??Pat, Dani, and Sherryâ??and other girls a lot. Heâ??s just genuinely a nice, known guyâ??â? â??Then why is he chasing after you like a tail?â? â??Uh, getting there.â? Iâ??m a little annoyed. I still like Donovan, now! â??Tric (Trish as in Trisha as in PAtricia) made me borrow some of her clothesâ??this royal blue top with mini white polkas that you tie in the front and no arm sleeves with her shorts and hot pink round earrings. Now, I didnâ??t mind it too much because when youâ??re around the guy you like who seems like the type to totally ignore you if you donâ??t have his attractions,â? I gather my breath, â??You canâ??t mind being cute but being a lady also. I was being both. â??So anyways, Jerome is nice also, and he had let me and Pat roam his house, basically. Now, she was smart and sneaky at the SAME TIME! Apparently, Jerome had told her that Donovan would be over that Saturday because he had lost this bet they had made, so he had to mow Jeromeâ??s lawn and would tinkle with Jeromeâ??s car, which was still sitting in his neighborâ??s drive-way since it had stop going. â??Me, I didnâ??t know all that until Jerome reiterated that while we were standing in his kitchen. When I heard Don knock on Romeâ??s kitchen window, I looked over at him and he had looked away, so I ran off and Tric ran off with me too. Oh, I also had on dark blue jeansâ??Tric said my but might appear biggerâ??but anyways, we ran off and she fussed at me. â??â??What if he saw you ding-dong?â??â? She asks. â??â??I bet he didnâ??t. He was looking away. I donâ??t think I should be here.â?? Now, as you can imagine, I was getting cold sweats and was meltingâ??meaning I was sweating under the pits a little. â??She calmed me down and made me stay. After a while, she left the room we were in, which was Jeromeâ??s older sisterâ??s old room. I finally see Donovan walk in the back yard with his usualâ??a gray tank and a red flannel top open. â??Things got literally hot, so I grabbed a book from Romeâ??s sisterâ??s nightstand. I started to fan myself with it. So Iâ??m watching, and I donâ??t even know why he goes outside with two shirts onâ??even if one IS open and the other is only a tank. â??But the climax of the story comes when he decides to take off both of his shirts and let his dog chain and other necklace hang loose. I was fanning myself harder and he happens to look at my window. I grow nervous, there seems like a cork lodged in my throat, and my heartbeat is harder. Slob is unable to be swallowed, and it seems like Iâ??m swallowing hay all of a sudden. But simultaneously, I turn away and land on my butt underneath the window seal. Thank God the window wasnâ??t long. After I catch my breath a little, I crawl over to the sisterâ??s door and lock it, just in case.â? â??What did you do for all that time?â? â??Stayed there and played possum sorta. I guess I acted dead because I stayed in there for as long as I could. Tric came back upstairs, and after knocking and bargaining with me, I finally opened the door. I started to cry some and told her the story. Donovan was basically done with the backyard. We sit on Sisterâ??s bed. â??â??Well, no one told him to do this during the heat of the day. Plus, Donovan has to clean up pee from Jeromeâ??s car.â?? â??â??Eww!â?? I say.â? â??â??Grandma pee,â?? Tric says with a smile. â??It stanks. One of â??em had to take someoneâ??s pee to the hospital since they were too scared to go themselvesâ?¦and of course, it hadta to spill. But I heard it was this eight-year kid who knocked it overâ?¦PURPOSEFULLY!â?? â??Easy to say she had me laughing again. So I sat in Romeâ??s sisterâ??s room and watched some TV so Donovan couldnâ??t spot ME off guard again. About an hour later, Tric coax me downstairs, so I eat a little, then run back upstairs. An hour later, Tric comes back upstairs. â??â??Come on.â?? She tells me, so I go back downstairs with her. She gives me this glass of lemonade. â??Go out there out there and take this to him.â?? I look at Jerome and he looks just as parentally, so I do. Donovan has his headphones plugged in the radio. He doesnâ??t notice me, so I have to tap him on the shoulder. He looks up and gives me a side grin as an afterthought. â??â??Sup?â??â? â??â??Lemonade?â??â? I ask. â??â??Sure, thanks,â??â? he smiles again and takes it from me. Now, Iâ??m standing there momentarily, wondering if I should just walk across the lawn and go back into the house. My bare feet started to itch as I stood in the grass. As my mouth is open to say I was gonna go back in, he successfully feels in the gap for us. â??â??Youâ??re the other friend thatâ??s hereâ?¦Lyric,â?? and I said something SO lame, â??Yeah, thatâ??s meâ?? I smile, TOTALLY giving myself away.â? â??â??Hi, Iâ??m Donovan.â?? We shake hands after he wipes his hands â??cause heâ??s embarrassed by the grease and oil, but I tell him itâ??s alright and shake it anyways. When I tell him Iâ??m going to go back in the house, he says he hopes to see me again with a smile.â? â??Did you?â? Michael asks. Heâ??s been an EXCELLENT listener. â??Yeah, and Jerome was barbequing for us. Sorta like Donovanâ??s pity party. Patricia was hanging around him to get the dirt about Austin, so I was sorta on my own in the house, but as we partnered up in Romeâ??s house, I could sorta feel the nervousness as Donovan was washing his hands in the sink again. He had his tank on againâ?¦.Actually, he did when I gave him his Kool-Aid lemonade, and it had gotten a little sweaty. â??â??Man, Iâ??m telling you that sun is no joke.â?? He told Jerome. We fixed our plates and were sitting at Jeromeâ??s table in his living room on the floor, just talking and stuff. I sat on my side and Donovan plots down beside me. You ever get that feeling when your crush sits beside you and yâ??all never said much to each other?â? Michael nods. â??That happened to me, so Don sits beside me, and I grow kinda noticeably quiet. â??Lyr,â?? I look up, â??Donovan is trying to tell you he likes your strap.â?? Pat says. I look over at my left shoulder, and sheâ??s right! Her lacy hot pink bra she lended meâ??pretty much let me haveâ??had fallen a little and I had to scoop it up. I laughed out of insecurity. Everyone else laughed too, and thatâ??s when I became more involved with the conversations. This is the first time Donovan and I ACTUALLY hear each otherâ??s laugh, and I learned that he could look away as he got too embarrassed also. This the first time weâ??re laughing so hard that weâ??re crying and coughing at dumb jokes. Not to mention he didnâ??t bring his girlfriend and after that, we started to grow inseparable.â? â??What about now?â? â??We hadnâ??t talked in so long that when we did ONCE again, we jumped right back into romance, which is so unhealthy. No to mention, a glass bowl nearly falls on me, and he pushed me out the way of it as Jerome does the same for Tric. It was pretty nice.â? â??Was his girlfriend mentioned at all?â? I thinkâ?¦â??No, not really. So he goes back to look back at the car, I grow the nerve to follow and he initiates it, and the others follow. I really canâ??t sit on the hood because itâ??s propped up, so the back of me is leaned on the car. Patricia and Jerome donâ??t stay out there for long; about ten minutes. But, so Donovan sit out there and talk and we even got on the topic of this past Valentineâ??s Day. I asked what he did and he said nothing, just that he was recovering from being sick. When I asked why he didnâ??t have a special someone, he just giggles and say that his girlfriend didnâ??t get him anything. I told him that suck. He looked at me, laughed, and said he liked the way I thought. â??Thatâ??s when I knew there was something there for usâ?¦potentially more than just friends.â? â??Is there more?â? â??There ALWAYS is, but I my tongue is sore.â? Michael laughs, â??Sorry.â? I just shake my head. â??Sorry for giving him so much credit.â? Michael shakes his head. â??Hey I canâ??t be mad at another guy making you happy. Now that Iâ??m here, I have a little control over it.â? â??Yeah, no need to squash the ENTIRE story in one night.â? I feel myself try to get up, but itâ??s do dang on hard! Michael helps me though. Weâ??re thinking the same thing as Iâ??m slipping my gloves on again. We head to this seafood shop on the hill, which is to our left if weâ??re facing the buildings, opposite the water. Michael opens the door for me. â??Thanks,â? I smile. Itâ??s after three now, but weâ??re still all grins and such. We have our masks on again and order our food. â??Hope I wonâ??t feel sick eating this stuff at this time of DAY,â? Michael says. â??I know, RIGHT!â? We give each other high fives. Weâ??re eating in silence, and one of the ladies who work there finally walks up to us. â??Michael Jackson?â? Michael looks up hesitantly. â??Yes?â? â??Aww, it IS you! And her. Are you dating her?â? As Iâ??m about to protest, he tells me to shh, and jokingly says in an extra friendly tone, â??Why yes, maâ??am.â? Once she gets like â??Whoa!â?? Michael finally tells her heâ??s just a friend of mine and we went to this event together. When she asks what event, I give him the go and we explain to her the ball. Her sister is standing by her by then and we just finished our story. â??Oh, wow!â? The first lady says. Iâ??m kinda glad when they leave us alone. Iâ??m tired, a little sore, and just want to sleep now. But Iâ??m eyeing the juke box also, and Michael turns around towards it. â??Wanna?â? he says. I look over at him, but he gets up to answer the temptation. He puts a quarter in and Iâ??m happy to hear a slow jam, The Temptations â??Earth Angelâ? came on. The song is NO WHERE near corny, itâ??s just awkward for this moment. And that reminds me when it played as Donovan and I stood outside talking. He started singing it. Michael takes my hand and weâ??re dancing to it; sorta like we were grooving to Bootsyâ??s song at the ball. I see the first lady put another coin in and â??We Belong Togetherâ? came on by the late and GREAT Ritchie Valens. We sing it together; one of my favs from Ritchie. After the song ends, Michael asks if I want to go home. I shake my head and ask for another round, so he puts on â??La Bambaâ? also by Ritchie, and I wake up some more. â??Whoa, I had no idea,â? Michael is referring to my moves. â??I know.â? Then I start singing the words. â??Know what heâ??s saying?â? â??Not off the top of my head. Iâ??m still tired, you know.â? At my school, itâ??s a requirement to take a language for three semesters, and I chose Spanish, all the way up to AP. Thereâ??s many people of the descent around where we stay, so it was only beneficial for me to max out all of the courses. I felt like if I was going to learn a language, it was the least I could do was to learn a song, too, and Ritchie was one of the best people to learn from. Michael and I are walking out the shop, just laughing and telling the two sisters, Marley and Chubby, that we should hopefully be back. We were exiting out on â??Hit the Road Jackâ? by the prodigy, Mr. Ray Charles. â??Has Bill really sat out here this long?â? I ask Michael once we got back in the limo. I lay myself on him. â??Heck no!â? he laughs. â??I told he he moutsaâ??well leave and come back. I knew we would be here for a while.â? â??REALLY?â? I ask. â??Yeah,â? he laughs. â??Plus, did you SEE our 60s party?â? â??Better yet, old school party?â? I throw in with a smile and gurgled giggle. â??Like Nancy Sinatraâ??s â??These Boots Are Made for Walkinâ??. Classic!â? We go back and forth over the different songs until silence fall again, and close my eyes. I wake up with Michael gently shaking my head. â??Wake up Sleeping Beauty.â? Itâ??s dark, but I see his face through the shine of the moon. I slowly sit up and he helps me. â??Come on,â? he whispers, and I groggily thank Bill Bray once we were out the car. He hugs me and lets on be on our way. I lightly knock on the door. â??Youâ??re going to have to knock faster if you want him to hear THAT!â? Michael says. I look over at him with a smirk. I knock harder and ring the doorbell. The porch light is already on, so all Dad did was open the door for us. He throws his right hand in the air to wave to Bill and smile. Bill does the same. â??Had a good time?â? he asks. Now, when a father asks you that, youâ??d think he was done partying, but I shoulda just KNEW what I thought was wrong because he was still in his tux for one. And I saw Shaunie in there with a wine cooler on the arm of the couch. She hadnâ??t even left yet, and what time is it now? About five now! â??Hey, girl.â? She comes up and hugs me around the neck. I hug back, but after a little, I just go upstairs and take a shower. I really donâ??t wanna wake up in this dressâ?¦itâ??s kinda sticking to me now. So I cover my head and shower in the REALLY warm water. I SWEAR Iâ??m suffering from fatigue by the time I get out the shower. I look down the stairs, and SHEâ??S still there!! I catch Michaelâ??s eye, and he looks at me in a sympathetic way. Heâ??s slouched over with his elbows sticking out. I return the look with a soft face. As Iâ??m walking away, I decided to blow him a kiss and he winks at me. Well, thank you Mikey! C5C5C5C5C5CC5C5CC5C5C5CC5C5C5C5C5C5CC5C5C5C5C5C5C5C5C5C5C5CC5C5C Some shockers, hunh? Well, for one, I chose to have â??C5â? as another border is becose right now, Iâ??m listening to Michaelâ??s different voice ranges and that one happens to be â??Lady in My Lifeâ? and I was like, â??Why not?!â? So I chose it. Also, if you have seen the music video â??Call Me Maybeâ? by Carly Rae Jepsen you can see the inspiration I got, and if youâ??ve seen â??Victoriousâ? when Jade and Cat is babysitting the manâ??s home, and Robbie & Beck comes over and the guitar nearly hits Cat. Either way, sorry to make you read so much, but YEP thereâ??s ALWAYS more! Iâ??ll let your brain get a break now~~Aariyan :) Also, itâ??s not that Donovan is more important, but of course you might be able to see that ;). *Also, from Day 1 basically, I let Allen Payne be Clarence. He's C.J. from Tyler Perry's "House of Payne" and Jason from "Jason's Lyric" ;). I'll eventually tell you who's Lyric's mom, which is Angela in the story. It will make so much sense :).
