Tough Love Part 49; Part 3
Hey :) --Vote up! 8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i Chapter 49; Part 3 By the Poolside Michael walked up to us as Donovan was closely talking to me and making me laugh because he starts to tease me. He doesnâ??t say anything, just take my arm and walk me away. Iâ??m a little scared to tell Donovan bye because I donâ??t know if Michael would even talk to me again tonight if I bid Donovan goodbye. â??I think you should really try it,â? Michael tells me. Currently, thereâ??s an open mike, and Michael wants to see what I can do, but Iâ??m too embarrassed to go up there because sometimes, I feel like I canâ??t sing worth a lick! More attention is cast on me, and Iâ??m basically forced up stage, so I go so everyone could shut up. Right now, Iâ??m wishing I could do what Michael didâ??which was dip out and â??go to the bathroomâ?. Right now, I was in a â??Ainâ??t No Sunshineâ? mood. And I mean the Michael version too! People clap, and I silently pray for God to get me through this, though Iâ??m not sure if thatâ??s gonna work. Luckily, I FEEL an upbeat song play. First, itâ??s the piano, then itâ??s the HEAVY bass. Jackson 5â??s â??I Want You Backâ?. I could ALWAYS handle this song, though Michael was the star, anyways. â??Trying to live without your love is one long sleepless night. Let me tell you bo-oy, that I know wrong from rightâ? I was gracious enough to point, and luckily, I was able to point to Michael. Watching the Jackson 5 for years had me EQUIPPED for this! I mixed some of my moves with theirs; including Michaelâ??s head bops and some of his swaying. â??Ha, I tell you that I love ya!â? Other than my gut-wrenching â??Ohsâ? and â??I want you backâ?, I got another applauds. I stayed on stage because I liked the feeling. â??Oh, well, letâ??s hear her again!â? Mayor says. Luckily, Iâ??m covered by Michael and the Jacksons again. They play â??I Wanna Be Whaere You Areâ?. Must say, one of my favs, and it brings back those fond memories of wanting SO bad to be a lover of Michaelâ??s; enjoying the summer of â??72, listening to this summer jam. Michael was thirteen then, I remember. But I think he was saying he was eleven, instead. Crazy how it seems that recently, he has jumped two years in age. â??Ohâ? I say like the brothers do in the middle of the song as the music is playing. â??I wanna be, I wanna be, oh! Yeah, yeah baby now! I wanna be, I wanna be, oh! Oooh! I wanna be, I wanna be, oh! Na na, bay, yeah I wanna be, I wanna be, oo-oo-oo-oh!â? I keep repeating it. They play â??Blues Awayâ? and Iâ??m laughing now because the song always seemed kinda silly to me. Guess Michael changed a little as he got older, too. They slow things down even more as they play little Michael again. â??You ever want somethingâ?¦that you KNOW you shouldnâ??t haveâ?¦the more you know you shouldnâ??t have itâ?¦the more you want it? And then one day, you get itâ?¦â? Anyone breathing now knows what this is. Right now, Iâ??m actually feeling anguish, and Iâ??m half decent, too. Iâ??m kinda making eye contact with Michael. Itâ??s like some of the stuff Iâ??ve been wanting to say to him. This is how I feel sometimes. â??Well, letâ??s give this little girl a rest,â? Mayor Bradley says with a smile, but I end up singing â??All I Do is Think of Youâ? before my voice is given a rest for a little. People clap and hug me as Iâ??m getting off stage, but I feel like Michael is singing the chorus of â??All I Do is Think of Youâ? as I walk back over to him. Heâ??s standing studly and in a cool manner by our table. I canâ??t hide my big grin any longer, and itâ??s like weâ??re thirsty as we basically snatch each other up in a hug. He firmly gives me a kiss on my head, and as I look at him with his bright smile, Iâ??m thinking that maybe Iâ??ll be thinking about him all night. People decide to compete and stuff with dancing. Michael and I dance too, and end up winning. Letâ??s say the dance moves help and heâ??s quick on his feet. I mean, have you seen their variety show? That boy donâ??t get claps for NOTHING! Iâ??m talking with Dad, Shaun, the mayor and his wife when Michael ask me if I wanna go outside again. I must say Iâ??m surprised, considering what happened in the earlier, when the night was younger. â??Come and walk me outside,â? I say with a smile. Everyone else is beaming for me; but probably us. Weâ??re sitting by the pool; ironic, huh? Well, my shoes are off in the water. Well, my feetâ?¦not the, you know, shoesâ?¦but anyways, Michael has his legs crossed. I look up and I see that guy againâ?¦Cooperâ?¦in a tux and his hair slicked down. He sees me too, and this is the first time I actually see his smile as a genuine one. The way he smiles looks like a boyish smile. Coop has that quality of a smile that not every boy has. â??Michaelâ?¦can you give me a little privacy out here? I just kinda wants to talk to myslef,â? I sputter. I know my words made amlost (I knowâ??noâ??Iâ??m doing it again!) NO sense, but I needed him to move, and I guess my pushing alerted him but made him move. â??Fine, fine, find me when you need to,â? he says and gets up. â??Thank you,â? I say. Iâ??m hoping Michael will walk off to the our right, but he donâ??t, he takes the long wayâ??the same as Coopâ??and my stomach feels like itâ??s about to fall out of me when Cooper coolly turns his top-half, and Michael doesnâ??t look back to see who it is, so I let out a breath and smile once again. His eyes lights up, so that must be a good sign. I donâ??t even know how old this guy is, but I donâ??t care right now. I look to see if Michael is all the way in the building, and Cooper turns around to see if heâ??s in there, too. As heâ??s about a foot away, my heart beats faster, and I start to get hot a little, so that means Iâ??ll sweat and my voice will turn strain. â??Hey,â? I greet him. â??Señorita,â? he says with that same smile. â??Why are you here?â? I ask, though I may already know the answer. â??Told you you would see me here,â? he says with a smile. â??WHO are you?â? â??Who are YOU?â? he says to me. Okay, so weâ??re going at thisâ??with different, short introductory questionsâ??when we agree at the same time after about two minutes. â??Really, tell me your name,â? he says. He havenâ??t told me his. Evidently his first name must not be really Cooper, so as I ask him what letter it starts with, he wonâ??t tell me; even as we go through the whole alphabet! â??Itâ??s Lyric,â? I say as I shrug up my shoulder in a cute way. â??Lyricâ?¦your mama likes to sing?â? â??Well, yeah, but she wanted my name to start with an â??Aâ??.â? â??But â??Lyricâ?? donâ??t start with an â??Aâ??â?. â??My REAL name does,â? I say with a smile. He knew he had to stop asking me about my name because I was ONLY returning the favor. â??Wish I could give you my number,â? he says. â??You always can.â? â??You can always look me up in the book.â? â??But I donâ??t know which Cooper you are.â? He pauses, then says, â??Soon you will.â? He walks off. â??Hey, how old are you?â? I ask. He walks up to me again and asks me, â??How old are YOU? Youâ??re definitely a high-schooler.â? Speaking the facts, Cooper. â??Not telling,â? I smile. â??Guess Iâ??ll find out in time, too.â? He sits by me again. I look up and see Michael. Oh no; but of course it was coming againâ?¦. â??Lyricâ?¦I wanna dance,â? he says as he gets closer. I can sorta tell he made this up like I made up my own story to get him to walk away. â??I already asked her first,â? Cooper says. I turn to look at him a little too fast, but clearly I know he lied about that. He never askedâ?¦.but now, heâ??s taking my hand, and Iâ??m not saying no. He just sways me side-to-side, and for the first time, I noticed his hands are a little cold; despite the point that I have on gloves. His hand touches the tip of my dress in the back, so I can feel his soft hands. Well, his EXTRA soft hands. You know heâ??s white, so his hands are kinda noticeably soft. He giggles as Iâ??m not smiling. I donâ??t know what Michael will tell my dad; you know heâ??s Daddyâ??s assistant. The song ends, and thatâ??s when Cooper willingly let me go and hand me over to Michael again. Michael grips my hand and I can tell Iâ??m being forced to go a certain way. Weâ??re walking fast and steady (barely, I guess) and staccato. â??Michael, slow down,â? I say while weâ??re in the hall again as weâ??re going back into the room filled with all the magic. He only lets out a grunt and he doesnâ??t slow until weâ??re in eyesight of the others in the doorway. Michael is a little quiet, but I know why. Cooper hates Michael and Michael hates Cooper. Donovan Cooper hates Michael and Michael hates Donovan Cooper. What do you expect out of this loveâ?¦rectangle? I sing a few more numbers, and as weâ??re having our dessert, we see a pie fly across the room! For some reason people were throwing pies at one another. When I felt Michael yank me, I thought he was getting his revenge, but he wasnâ??t. He just had us safely under the table. It didnâ??t take long for the mayhap to stop. But once it did, we could tell Mayor Bradley was faking his anger. This was time for rewarding. Dad got an extra symbol to put on his uniform, I think. Other colleagues of Los Angeles got awards alsoâ??those who dealt with law enforcement basically. The last person to be honored was this guy named Dylan Cooper. He was a rookie because this was to be his first year to become a cop. My mouth dropped as I saw the same guy, Cooper!, walk up to Mayor with claps in the crowd. His beaming smile was intimidating as he looked down in the crowd and found meâ??though literally, the spotlight was ACTUALLY on him. â??â?¦This means so much to me. Thank you Mayor Bradley. And I will give it my all under the command of Chief Swan. Thank you.â? He says in the microphone. After Mayor, Dad gives him his manly hug, and the crowd claps as I feel like I may throw up in my mouth. 8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i8i Originally, I got Cooperâ??s name from the character Chad Dylan Cooper of â??Sonny With A Chanceâ? :D -A
