Tough Love Part 49; Part 1
Hey! !~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chapter 49; Part 1 The Bradleys Marlon is quick to say that heâ??s gonna tell Mother and the rest of the family how we look. I feel a bit embarrassed because I donâ??t want people dubbing me as the chick who have it for Michael. And I think I donâ??t want them to dub him the same. But what can I say? Weâ??ve went to each otherâ??s big important events in the past week! I wonder how the media might perceive me. I just want to hang with Michael. Thatâ??s all I want. â??Come on,â? Michael whispers. He opens the door, to let Dad and Shaun go in first, but Dad said heâ??d sit in the front with Shaun and the Bill Bray. So when Michael closed the door behind us, I felt a little comfy, but hot and nervous. Some of my dress covered him, but he didnâ??t move. He grabbed my hand and played with my chastity ring. And he also looked at me. I knew he was thinking. He gets abruptly quiet when heâ??s reflecting. Michael starts to swallow sometimes. His eyes grow big when heâ??s thinking, but they seem a little droopy and sad. I picked up his hands and as Iâ??m about to kiss them, I abruptly drop them. Michael looks beautiful tonight and Iâ??m so happy to have him as my accompanying person tonight. Things might be a little awkward if I positioned myself over his lap to kiss him on the face. I grabbed his chin and turned the left side of his face towards me. I rubbed his small beauty mark that was on his cheek with my thumb, and kissed that. He positioned me to face him, and beamed. He looked me in the face, and I didnâ??t know WHAT he would do next. Instead, he kissed my forehead, and pressed me to his chest. I closed my eyes, enjoying his warmth. â??I think Iâ??m nervous,â? I whispered. â??Donâ??t be, Lyric. Why are you?â? I face him. â??The public.â? My voice crack a little. He looks at me bewildered. â??If you want, you donâ??t have to give your name, again. Seems like the newspapers canâ??t keep track of your name, anyways. Donâ??t worry,â? he says. â??But this is for Mayor Bradley. He gave my dad his job, anyways, so Dad support him.â? I smiled. â??He did?â? â??You have to be appointed by the mayor to be a chief.â? â??Bradleyâ??s black?â? â??He happens to be. But Dad didnâ??t get the job because of that. I just remember him always leaving to go for work. Mama would tell him bye, and heâ??d kiss me bye. Sometimes, I wanted him to be around a little more, but that wasnâ??t always possible. When he was, it was so much fun. Thatâ??s how I know he deserved the ranking he has now.â? Michael smiled and kissed my cheek. â??You get out first and hold my hand once we get there. I wonâ??t even say anything,â? he says with a smile. â??Where your mask if you have one!â? He puts on a white mask that covers some of his face. â??Better?â? â??They shouldnâ??t say anything.â? â??I donâ??t care if they do. Iâ??m here for you.â? We donâ??t say anything and stay content until we hear noise again and we knew we were in a hot spot in L.A. â??Ready to get out?â? â??Nope, but letâ??s do this.â? I say. Dad opened the door, and when I stepped out, I was looking at the white-marble looking Los Angeles City Hall building. Itâ??s sorta like our L.A. trade center. I pulled onto Michaelâ??s hand. â??At this time, the chief of this city, Clarence Swan, and his beautiful daughter should be coming out the limo nextâ?¦.And OH, thereâ??s her date to this impressive eveningâ??Michael Jackson!â? Dad walked a little fast with Shaun in hand while I followed in suit. I focused on his back while Michael looked forward also. We didnâ??t diddle daddle with the crowd, and we ignored anyoneâ??s comments. But hereâ??s something I DID notice: one of the reporters happened to be the same man from â??The Wizâ? premiere. â??This is live: KABC-TV.â? When we get in, Michael and I are quick to help the doors close sooner than it would have. â??Whatâ??s wrong?â? Dad asks. â??Weâ??re just glad weâ??re in here now.â? â??Well, we need to meet the mayor. Come on,â? so we follow. Dad knows his way around him very well; and after we get off the elevator, we approach his office. Dad knocks. We wait there for a few seconds, then the door opens. Weâ??re face-to-face with Mayor, Tom Bradley. â??Come in Clarence, I was wondering when you would get here.â? He looks over at me and Shaun then laughs a little. â??I understand why youâ??re late now. I would be too if my wife kept being the perfectionist she is.â? Mayor Bradley embraced me and Shaun, then he shook Dadâ??s and Michaelâ??s hand. He also gave them one of those manly hugs. â??Come in and meet my wife.â? Dad and Michael greeted First Lady of Los Angeles. When she approaches Shaun and I, she puts her hands to my face, and say, â??You must be this young manâ??s daughter. You are VERY beautiful in person.â? â??Thatâ??s not trueâ?¦look at you,â? I whispered. â??Sshâ?¦.Let a woman compliment you when itâ??s appropriate.â? She hugs me. I have to bend a little more. Though both of us are wearing heels, Iâ??m still a little taller. â??And I saw you at the premiere with that young man,â? When she looks at me again, I know Iâ??m blushing some. â??Aww, donâ??t worry about it. But can I see you without your mask on?â? I jumped a little. â??Oh my God, I forgot about that! Here, let me help.â? I know I was panicking so much because I went and helped her. She smiles again. Then she go to Shaun, who has her hair in a clamp or ponytail, and she have spirally bangs. When I look over at the gentlemen, Iâ??m feeling awkward, but they smile over at me. â??Lyric, why donâ??t you go out there and have some fun with Michael? Weâ??ll come out later.â? Dad says. â??Alright.â? Michael and I walk to each other. We get a hold of each otherâ??s hand, and he let me go through the door first. I smile and say thank you, â??cause I love it when a man can treat you like a lady. â??When did your ribbon-thingy change?â? I asked. Instead of it being red, it was black instead. â??While we were still at the house. Where do you wanna go?â? â??Where the people are meeting up. Iâ??m sure itâ??s the dining room; come on.â? We take the elevator to the first floor. â??Wait,â? Michael says. â??Let me put my mask on again.â? â??Let me do it. I donâ??t want you messing up your hair,â? I tell him with a smile. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TBC
