You've Got A Friend In Me Part 6
At the park benches Michael let out a big sigh. "So you are the least romantic guy in the world, right." Melanie said. She sat pretty close to him and this made her cheeks burn so she inched slightly further away. "Yes. You know Tatum? She's my girlfriend but she's so bipolar sometimes." Michael said. Melanie cracked a smile then laughed out loud. "And what is so funny about what I said?" Michael asked really confused. "She's 12 and you can't be serious about her." Melanie said trying to contain her laughter. "She doesn't act 12. Anyways I'll ignore the fact you think the first relationship I've ever had is a big fat joke." Melanie stopped laughing when she saw the seriousness in his eyes. "I'm sorry. Carry on." He cleared his throat. "Thank you Williams. Sometimes she's cool to be around and then other times I feel that I bore her. Am I doing something wrong? I know I can't drive and I know I'm not very social but-" "But what?" Melanie asked him. "You don't understand." "Maybe I don't. But you can't be worse than me. Nobody I've met has liked me so that makes me socially challenged in a way." Michael could'nt believe she said that. She seemed to be those really pretty girls that everyone liked and now she's 'socially challenged?' "Why's that?" Michael asked. "I used to do well in almost everything so I guess that intimidated people. Anyways it's you we're here to talk about. Not me." She was right. But Michael felt bad for her. People were hating on her for something she had no control over. Pushing her into adding more detial in what she said wouldn't have been wise so he carried on. "I really like Tatum alot but there must be something I'm doing wrong if she'd- look can you just help me out?" Michael asked. Melanie had no idea what to say to that but she was going to try come up with something but there was one thing on her mind. That one thing was that he should just dump her. "Well maybe you might not connect because of the 5 year age difference. I know it's just a number but you have to consider. You're 17. You'll want more out of this relationship than her." Melanie said shocked at how good her advice sounded to her. "I want to be loved. That's all. What do you think she wants?" Michael asked Melanie. SEX, Melanie thought. Then Melanie felt guilty for thinking the girl would want that. The thing was, Melanie just didn't like her for some strange reason as unfair as that was. "You should talk to her about that one." Michael shook his head. "Why not?" Melanie asked. "What if she freaks out? What if she dumps me? What if all her friends were there and laughed at me or-" Melanie quckly cuaght on that he was shy. In general. But that was sweet. "Just try. If things don't go well then you can tell me all about it over some ice cream. Eating ice cream is therapuetic." Melanie said. "It is." Michael said with a small laugh. "Thank you. You're so easy to talk to." Michael said. Melanie wasn't sure what to say to that so she just smiled politely. "Oh shoot! Julie called a designer to come to our house for dresses for the- I gotta go." Melanie said getting up. "Okay. See you around then Melanie." Michael said very dissappointed she had to go so soon. "See you around Michael." Melanie said in a hurry. She had to think of clever excuses for Julie and the designer. She got in on the designer Fabio packing to leave. " Where on zis eart were you?!" he scolded. Melanie knew the guy well. He designed all her dresses for beauty pagaents. "I see your accent hasn't changed." she said to him. She looked at his tight yellow pants and sweater. "or your dress sense." Melanie said looking at him up and down. "Still a rude brat." he went on. Fabio had the wierdest Italian accent. Melanie had met alot of Itlians who spoke fine but Fabio was special. In a good or bad way? Well that's your choice. "Julie ma love I will zum tommorow mornin. For punishment zu wil not go to school." he said angrily. "I'm really sorry Fabio. My daughter isn't going to school and I will talk to her about her attitude." Julie said. Her and Fabio did some stupid handshake and he left. "Okay you better have a damn good excuse for not being here on time." Julie said. "I'm so sorry. I know how much this meant to you-" "It means alot for you as well. I don't want to know whcih guy got lucky but what I do want to know is why during the most important time of the day?" Julie asked. "You think I'm-" "I've been a teenager too, Melanie. And do something about your attitude." Julie went on. Melanie gave her an evil glare. Julie was convinced she had her all figured out when she was clueless and just trying to be a mother. **************************************************************** THANK YOU AGAIN TO ALL WHO VOTED.
