Amber's Heart Part 8
Even Iâ??m getting nervous! Me: Janâ??s whatâ??s this about? She hanged up on me! I didnâ??t want to jump to any conclusions; but I surely didnâ??t want to be caught off guard either, so I hanged up the phone. If it was Michael, it would be good timing in a way, since what he did was a bit spontaneous. Bu it would be horrible because Sandy and Beanie was still here! I looked through the window and saw a big smile, Michael, and a big smile. He waved to me and I waved back, giggling. This boy is going to get me in trouble. Mama wouldnâ??t care, as long as she or Sandy got to meet the boy first and knew his intentions towards me. Like I do a lot, they â??readâ? the person. I opened the door and felt a breeze rustle through my dress. I ran up to Michael with my arms spread and him waiting. Michael: Amber! Me: Michael! We engaged in a bear hug then kissed. Me: My mom isnâ??t home, she went to get some more stuff. Michael: Youâ??re cousin home though? Me: Sandy, yeah she is. It would have been nice if you and Janet had told me about this secret plan. Michael: I have a flower for you. He went in his jacket and got out a crumpled Daisy. I saw the same flowers in his yard. Michael: Sorry about that. Me: Itâ??s okay. Itâ??s lovely. I kissed his cheek. Me: You look so niceâ??but you canâ??t come into the house right now. Michael: Then letâ??s walk. Me: Iâ??ll ask Sandy to look after the food while were out. I can only be out for so long: maybe fifteen minutes. Michael: Okay. I ran through the door, into the house, up the stairs into Sandyâ??s roomâ??by then my throat was burning from my rapid speed Me: Sandy? Sandy: Yes? Me: Janet just called, hinting Michael was here. Sandy: Well? Me: He is. I told him he couldnâ??t come in the house just yet, so he asked me to walk with him. Thatâ??s not such a bad idea. Sandy: You know Auntieâ??s rule. Me: Yeah, I know. But itâ??s a quarter to five, plus an additional ten minutes. Why not meet him when his family is here also? Please, what he did was so spontaneous. I donâ??t think he planned all of these when I first announced the dinner. Sandy: Be careful Amber. Me: Donâ??t have to worry about that. I was giddy and felt light-hearted because I was walking with a boyâ??talking of conversation about love and life in general. I was also nervous about what might happen. Michael was standing by my mailbox with his hands behind his back. His complexion looked so beautifulâ??Iâ??ve glanced at a few pictures and saw his shade of skin was darker; but still beautiful. I guess it was just puberty. Me: (walking beside him carefully and grabbing his hand) Michael: (looking down at me and smiling) I wanted so much to kiss him. Moments like these I love: so peaceful with love in the air. We decided to walk in a big circle in our neighborhood. We were silent at first. I think he sensed my nervousness, because my chest kept heaving out more and more. I was taking huge gulps of airâ??hyperventilating. Finally Michael broke the silence by stopping me. Michael: (smiling sweetly) Me: (looking down blushing) Michael: I havenâ??t felt this way in a while. I think I could kiss you forever. Oh boy! Not the f word already. Me: Donâ??t say what you donâ??t mean. Michael: The thing is I do. Me: Itâ??s too soon. Michael: Blame it on love. Me: (giving a quizzical look) Michael: Love in general I mean. One moment the sun blocked my sight and I tripped over a small rock. I was about to head-hills over when Michael immediately grabbed both of my wrists. I was scared that I was near danger from a rock. My breathing really speeded up fast and I shamely hid my face in his chest. Michael: (whispering) everyone gets clumsy from time to time you know. I didnâ??t reply, I felt that stupid. I was getting tiresome and wanted to talk about something, so I asked him about some of his hobbies, which was a basic question. Michael: I read, write, watch TV, and hang with friends. Me: What about sing or something like that? Michael: Sometimes. I draw too. Me: Really? I love to draw. Iâ??m not that good at it but I love it. Michael: I could teach you someday. Me: I mean I know how to, Iâ??m just not that good at it. Michael: Still, Iâ??ll help you. I have this mini studio with my paint and stuff in the basement. Me: Why isnâ??t it in an attic or something? Michael: Mother fears us falling or suicide by jumping from the attic to the first floor or something. We have certain things like our Christmas tree up there. And I donâ??t need that in my room. Me: Oh, sounds good. How would I feel in a basement with a boy? Me: Iâ??m an avid reader too. Michael: Really? Me: Yeah, I do. When I was four, I remember my grandma used to read to me when I would visit her house, and I always said I wanted to learn how to read. I would make up my own little language. That was my way of reading a book. Michael: I hated it when I first started off. Me: Me too, all that pressure. I hate being pressured into things. He just looked down at me with his lips sealed. I looked at him to see what he was thinking through his eyes. By the time we got back to my house, we still didnâ??t say anything. Michael: See you? Me: Yeah. Thank you for walking me. Michael: It was nothing. He kissed me on the cheek and watched me as I went back in the house. Sandy: How was your walk? Me: Kind of flat. I hate when I canâ??t think of anything to say: I feel about light-headed. The only thing that would go in and out would be air. An airhead. Mama came back and took the icy punch out putting ginger ale in the glass bowl. The rest of us stood by the door with closed grins awaiting for our guests. I put on an apron and dashed a little flour on it and some on my cheeks, so I could look like a real chef. The only thing that was missing was a chefâ??s hat. Mom: You look silly, but beautiful Amber. Me: Thanks Mom. Mama is thin like me but overall healthy. She wore a sundress and looked lovely. Me: You look lovely Mama. Mom just beamed. There was a knock on the door. Sandy answered it to Pamela and her brother Peter. I knew thatâ??s why Beanie needed Pamâ??s number. What she wouldnâ??t know what that her brother was a bit pudgy. He wore a simple color shirt with dress shoes. Pamela wore a pink light dress with a white striped sweater to go with it with some pearls. I think I saw them in Wal-Mart, either way they looked great, and I loved Wal-Mart. I get my L.E.I.â??s from there. Me: Hi Pamela, hey Peter. Mom, Sandy, and Beanie this is Peter Green, and youâ??ve met his sister Pamela. Mom: Yes, Iâ??m Miranda Jenkins. Man I hate that last name. Peter seemed to think it was hilarious also. Mom turned red and started laughing too. Sheâ??s used to it. We sat them in the living room while Beanie and I did some last minute editing to the table in the dining room. Beanie: You didnâ??t tell me Fat Albert was to come. Lol, nothing against him, just hoped I made you laughed right there. Me: (through laughs) you didnâ??t ask. Plus Peter is a nice boy. Beanie: Nice and hungry. (She grumbled) Me: Beanie be nice. I went to look after the pineapple upside down cake real quick. It was on low and smelled like batter with pineapples baking. Another knock on the door. Katie: Hello. Me: Hi Katie. Katie: Hi, Iâ??m Katherine Jackson. This is my daughter Janet and my big son Michael. Mom: Hello, Iâ??m Miranda Jenkins. Katie: Call me Katie, Kate, anyone will do. Mom: I have no luck with mine. Katie: Randi? Small world lol Mom: Randi will do. Please come into the living room and watch some television with us while we wait for the dumplings to finish. Katie: Okay, we brought homemade ice cream with us too. Hope you like vanilla. Mom: Love it. Amber put the ice cream in the freezer, thank you Katie. Katie: Oh youâ??re welcome. When I came back, Katie was talking of Michael. Oh boy again! Katie: I think my little Michael is growing up. Sandy: Why do you say that? Obviously asking so she could hear what she wanted to hear Katie: I think Michael likes Amber. I froze as I went to sit next to Peter. Mom: Maybe so, Amber has more color in her cheeks these days. Janet: They do, trust me. Both: Janet! Janet: Well? Me: Iâ??m not the dating type. I went into the kitchen and washed my hands. When we settled at the dining room table, we had to pull up additional seats from the kitchen table. Doing the math there were nine peopleâ??three Jacksonâ??s, two Greenâ??s, and four that lived in my household. When we were choosing where we would sit, Michael pulled a chair out for me of course. I was hesitant about it and saw Mama smiled. I sat beside him. Sandy: So how old are you Michael? Michael: Sixteen. Beanie: Whenâ??s your birthday? Michael: August 29th. Beanie: Not much older than Amber. Michael: When is hers? Sandy: September the 18th. Michael: Virgos. I didnâ??t say anything. I felt Beanie nudging me. I guess she was getting revenge from when I didnâ??t tell her about Peter. He was sitting in between the two sisters. Peter: Iâ??m a Libra. Me: Beanieâ??s a Scorpio. Peter: Nice. Sandy: Iâ??m a Sagittarius. Me: Who asked? Sandy: Shut up. We kept eating. Conversation was thrown from time to time. As I sat next to Michael, I compared his shoulder to mine. I was sitting at his left and Jan was at his right. We had a great difference in height. I couldnâ??t help but look at his afro. I could tell he puffed it up. He resembled this: I wanted much to kiss him, or do something so adorable that he would look at me that way. When Peter made a joke, I laughed so natural. It was that funny and I didnâ??t know it would be. Sometimes when I laugh, it turns out perfect and cute, very hearty and adoring. I choked up a dumpling, tasting like little throw up in my mouth. When I was little, I used to like to swallow it. I guess I would have to do that today. It was rude to spit at the table in my opinion, especially with everyone watching. I swallowed the punch, which wasnâ??t much better. It looked like throw up, so it was all lumpy. Michael: You okay? Me: Iâ??m fine. I went to get the pineapple upside down cake with Beanieâ??s assistance. When we opened the oven, dark murky smoke came out. We immediately closed the door. Beanie laughed. Me: This isnâ??t funny. I mustâ??ve left it in too long. Beanie: Naw. I got it out and turned the microwave fan on and opened the kitchen window. By the time some of the smoke settled, I saw that only the top layer was burnt. All we had to do was scrape that off and enjoy the rest. I felt embarrassed and heavy in the chest. I knew they would comfort me for my error, but I still wanted things to go my way. Beanie carried the dish with me to the center of the table. Me: The pineapple upside down cake stayed in the oven a little too long. Itâ??s still some good, the top just need to be scraped off. Mom: Iâ??ll do it. Katie: Can I help? Mom: Sure. They took the dish back in the kitchen to get all the burnt off, leaving us kids alone. I looked around the room nervous and felt neglected because I didnâ??t have anyone to talk to. Michael took my hand and squeezed it, and then he started to caress it with his thumb. I began to tingle from being softly tickled. Tickle plus tingle plus boy equals pee. I began to sweat. Me: Excuse me. An unbelievable load came out (gross) and I noticed my period was on! Oh my gosh. I felt so grown up. I kissed a boy one night, the next day Iâ??m menstruating. That was next to being pregnant! We havenâ??t put any pads down here yet and I felt trapped. I sat there, slowly panicking. All I could think was to improvise by putting some tissue in my panties then dash up the steps. So thatâ??s what I did. I put on extra perfume to suffocate any evidence of smell and changed underwear. When I got back down, I took a pain pill. Everyone was eating by the time I came back. Mom: I was beginning to wonder where you were. I sat down carefully. Wouldnâ??t it just be easier if she hadnâ??t said anything at all? Michael fixed me a slice with a mountain of ice cream. Me: Iâ??m not that greedy. Plus I was feeling pretty crappy from my stomach churning a little. We laughed. We told Mom and Katie we would clean up. I washed the dishes; Michael cleared the table, Peter swept and Beanie had the dust pan. I think Pamela, Janet, and Sandy cleared the table also. I was humming something random when I felt a chest pressed against me. I turned around and Michael kissed me immediately. My breasts were getting up against his chest. His arms were firmly around my waist. He stepped back biting his lip then whispering: Iâ??ve wanted to do that all day long. Have you up against the sink again. One thing I hoped wouldnâ??t happen: him getting a b--er or something on me. My period already came today and I didnâ??t need tingle sensations interfere with my stomach either. Me: Maybe you arenâ??t the only one. I pecked him and rinsed the rest of the dishes. Peter and Beanie was in the backyard. Pamela and Janet were in Sandyâ??s room. I wasnâ??t sure if this was the right time to show Michael mine. Michael: Could I see your room? Me: Uh, itâ??s a pigâ??s tine. Michael: Donâ??t lie Amber, please. I lead him up the stairs and into my room. Michael looks around for three seconds. He flopped on the bed, pulling me on top of him. He hugged me tightly and I didnâ??t let him go either. I wondered if this was â??loveâ? but with your clothes on. I was real tired from trying to be so perfect all day and I didnâ??t want to feel my stomach pain. Michael: (giggling softly) your apron is still on. Me: Oh really? He took it off me. I settled under his chin falling asleep. His body was warm, and my perfume was blending with his cologne. He started toying with my hair. I kissed his neck. Me: Michael? I could tell he was getting drowsy also. Michael: Hmm? Me: I like being this close to you. Feeling your warmth against me makes me tingle inside. Michael: Youâ??re not the only one. I turned his head toward me blindly and kissed him. I then turned away and fell asleep. When I awoke, my shoes were off and I was tucked in my bed comfortably. I searched for Michael and noticed he was still there. He was reading one of my books. He looked so peaceful. He was on the edge of my bed and I looked around to notice his feet were bare, other than the stocking feet. I couldnâ??t help but ease up and nibble on his ear a little. He turned around smiling and laid me down, lay beside me and started kissing me. He had me pinned, kissing me so passionately. I didnâ??t want this to end. Sadly I wanted to go further, but I had to pull away. He rolled me on him and rubbed my back and tip of my butt. It felt great, I even fingered with his buttons. Me: Ooh, Michael stop. Michael: (whining) why? Me: We canâ??t go by our hormones. I escaped his grasp and moved to my chair. He grinned from my bed. Michael: Youâ??re hard to resist. Me: Still. We joked some more, then he left with Pamela and her brother, his mom and sister. Michael: See you, Monday? Me: (I kissed him) Iâ??m nervous. Michael: Donâ??t be, Iâ??ll have a seat for you on Monday. Me: Canâ??t wait. I bit my lip and kissed him again. I knew changes were coming out. Wow, hoped you like.
