Storms 1
Alexia Rodriguéz is just a teenage girl from Clearwater, Florida. She is 18 years old, in her senior year in high school. She currently lives in Miami, where there is nothing more than sun, surf and sand. She lives her “miserable” life as an only child. Not to mention, her dad left her when she was only eleven years old. That was seven years ago. Now, her mom and herself have lived through tough times; rent, food on the table, any necessary thing to keep the family alive. Well, it was not an actual family, because there weren't any brothers or a father, just a daughter and mother. Sighing, the eighteen year old ran a hand through her brown hair. She entered her house, a collection of boxes stacked on each other, aside each other, everywhere. “Mom! I'm home,” Alexia shouted. She paused, waiting for a response. None. “Damn. She isn't here.” She must have been at the Storage Company; Alexia and her family were moving from Clearwater to Chicago. Alexia dreaded the fact that she'd be the new girl again. Her mom is a marine biologist. They are always traveling around the United States. Alexia sighed. She walked over to one of the boxes and noticed a picture along with a frame. It was the picture of her mother and herself, standing alongside with her father. The picture was taken a week before he left. She frowned and took the picture off the box and hung it on the wall. … As Alexia busied herself with homework, the door opened and her mom stepped in, the framed picture in her hand. “Alexia, you can unpack all you want. We're still gonna move,” she said. “Yeah,” Alexia said, continuing to work out her algebra problem. “Can I get more than one syllable this time?” “Okay, I'll stop.” Alexia looked up. Her mom raised an eyebrow.
