Tough Love Part 43
I had to wait becus for some reason, I couldnâ??t! So I decided to start on this one. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Chapter 43 Buying A Diamond in the Rough Michael wanted us to walk off the premises of the school and just wait nearby, so I told him we could wait at the nearby Dollar General. Of course things wouldnâ??t go strictly as planned, and I saw Patricia goofing off with some of our friends and Sherry had to stop to talk to a teacher longer than I had. Because of that, we were fifteen minutes off, I think. We were on our way to Dollar General when this black limo started slowing down. It was already in our lane. â??I know you notice that Lyric,â? Patricia started to snicker. â??I know, but it just canâ??t be!â? â??It IS!â? Sherry agreed. So as soon as the limo was able to, it parked itself and a window came down. This light-skinned man with this beige hat started talking to me. â??Are you Alaric Swan?â? â??Yes, I am.â? â??You know Jackson?â? â??Michael?â? I asked with a pure smile, â??Yes, I do.â? â??You and your friends should get in the limo before too many people notice.â? Anyone could hood-wink someone into that, so I asked to see Michael. Slowly, the back window goes down. â??Michael!â? I screeched. â??Shush, and get in,â? he directed me. So I go for the handle, open it, and I can hear Michael making room for us. Danielle followed me and Sherry was the last one in, so OF COURSE Michael and I was a little squished at first. I had to contain my giggling, so I moved my things off his lap. â??Sorry,â? I say. â??Itâ??s alright,â? he says as he smiles. Other than the girls giving him a sorta hard time, he asks about what other store I had in mind. I had a few and the girls gave their suggestions, so we rode until we got to Downtown Los Angeles where we went to the Fashion District. â??Okay, please go to a FEW stores. Yâ??all do have homework.â? â??Like you care,â? Danielle mumbled. All of us except Michael busted out laughing. â??But where will you be?â? I asked. â??Bill and I will follow you to make sure nothing happens.â? â??Ohâ?¦â? would this plan really work? â??Donâ??t worry, Lyr.â? â??Butâ?¦what if I need a budget, or something. Help a girl outâ?¦.â? â??Thatâ??s why I broughtâ?¦â? he says in a dramatic tone. â??Who?â? we asked together.â? â??Janet!â? â??What, but I didnâ??t see her!â? I said. Then the privacy window goes down and she pops up. â??Here I am!â? she says laughing. â??Jan!â? I said. â??I was crouched down in the front seat. Sowwy, Lyric. It was his fault!â? she points at Michael. He shakes his head. â??I know what Iâ??m doing,â? she says with a smile. â??Now come one!â? Then she gets out while wearing some shades, a hat, and a scarf. So the rest of us follow. I was about to open the door, but Michael said, â??Donâ??t worry, Janet has it taken care of.â? â??Okay,â? I reflected his serious tone and got out. â??Well, letâ??s get started!â? Janet says as she raises her arm. We ended up in this store called PromGirl. To be honest, I felt I was in Heaven, but there were maybe two dresses that were black, and thatâ??s what I was shooting for. In my mind, I was wondering if Michael liked his girls in black, so I whispered it to Janet. She giggled. â??I donâ??t know, he might. Just depends on how you carry yourself.â? â??Okay.â? â??And I like your hair,â? she says. â??Youâ??re brother did, too,â? I couldnâ??t help but laugh. After two more stores, Pat asked if we were even looking in the right stores. â??We are, weâ??re just having no luck,â? Sherry reasoned. â??Hey, but CHECK OUT this beaded halter gown!â? Patricia said. â??Any of us would be hot stuff in this purple gown.â? We had to force her to come along. â??You know the first dress I found, itâ??s a cocktail halter dress, Iâ??m sure. Either way, I just know itâ??s a cocktail dress.â? I told all of them. â??Michael told me about that one.â? â??What he say?â? â??He didnâ??t say anything. Just â??My, my, my, Lyric looked GOOD!â?? But he told all of us that. I guess so we wouldnâ??t be surprised.â? Janet says. FINALLY, and when I say finally, I actually mean it! I nearly gave up all hope, when Janet showed me this black puffy ball gown that appeared to be very special. â??I know it has a little dust on it, but I thought you would like it.â? I looked at itâ??front and backâ??and I ran to the nearest mirror I saw. It WAS beautiful. It was EVERYTHING I was looking for: for one, it was strapless; two it WAS big, but I felt I could navigate my way around; and three, I would be a STUNNER on the red carpet! â??Iâ??ll take it!â? â??But arenâ??t you gonna try it on?â? Danielle asked. â??Nope. The first time I wear is when Iâ??m about to go downstairs the night of.â? â??Trying to dazzle Michael?â? Patricia asks. â??If heâ??s going to ask me on MY date, then Iâ??m gonna give him a reason to.â? With that, I headed to the check-out line, which no one was in the line, so I had no worries. â??You know, this is the CHEAPEST dress in this store. Only $158.00.â? â??Thatâ??s good, because I saw another that was $358.00!â? Janet remarked. But that WAS true. The lady didnâ??t say anything, but: â??This dress is NONrefundable.â? She says. â??Thatâ??s okay,â? Janet says and gives her the cash. After we walked out, she says, â??And that dress WASNâ??T even that much!â? â??How much than?â? â??Only $100.00!â? I wouldnâ??t let Michael see the dress, or even know what color it was. Janet said she, LaToya, and their mother would work out the details for whatever else I needed. â??I hate that you guys have to drop me off,â? Janet says with a frown. â??Why?â? â??Yâ??all might be kissing or something!â? We dropped off the other girls, and it was just the three of us in the back, with Bill Bray driving us in the front seat. Michael turned pink. â??Shush up, Dunk.â? He says. â??Dunk? Thatâ??s what we call one of my cousins!â? â??Yeah, but we call her that because she knows why.â? he says. â??Well, tomorrow IS the big day! Is your daddy coming with us?â? â??No, he has to look after a friend. And his friend is looking after his other friend with him,â? I mumbled. â??Huh?â? â??Lyricâ??s dad has a girlfriend,â? he tells Janet. â??Thatâ??s not his girlfriend,â? I shouted. â??Sorry, Iâ??m just not a fanâ?¦of her.â? â??Oh, well Iâ??m sorry.â? Once we pulled up to Hayvenhurst, I tell Janet to tell everyone I said hello. â??But Mike,â? she says hugging him. â??Bye Lyric.â? She hugs me next. â??Bye Jan!â? I tell her before she closes the door. As we veered away from the estate, there was a sense of grief. â??Whatâ??s wrong?â? he asks. We werenâ??t as close as we could have been. â??I feelâ?¦weak. I think I donâ??t wanna go home. Can weâ?¦go somewhere before home. To the beach, I donâ??t care.â? â??What aboutâ??â? â??I donâ??t care about it right now, Michael. I just donâ??t wanna go home. Can we go somewhere?â? â??Okay,â? he says, â??Bill?â? Bill lets down the privacy window. â??Take us to the beach.â? â??Which beach?â? â??It doesnâ??t even matter.â? â??Michael, itâ??s already after five-thirty.â? â??We donâ??t care,â? he tells him. As I look him in the face, I can tell heâ??s serious. Bill follows his instructions and he lets the window up. After Michael look back at me, I naturally crawl over to him, sit and is lap, and cradle up against his frame. â??I wouldnâ??t let you go even if your father wanted me to,â? I heard him say to me. I only snuggled a little closer. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Are yâ??all getting Goosebumps? *Right now, I can't post part 42, so I skipped to this part, but I'm going to try to post it again someway. ~Aariyan.
