Tough Love Part 25
I hope Iâ??m on a ROLL! Well, here GOES! *&nd, here goes the Big â??2-5â?. Iâ??m sure Michael knows something about that since so many good things were happening when he was that Age. :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ :/ Chapter 25 Blame It On Lyric Michael opened the door for us as we walked into this grandeur place: Epic Records. I had cold sweat and my mouth was a little agape. Not to mention that I had my pajamas on! I looked down then. â??Crap.â? I mumbled. Usually I donâ??t say words like that around my father, but at that moment I wasnâ??t thinking about thatâ??I just knew I really looked like a dork; my father looked like a cop, since he is one; yet Michael was holding the door for us. â??Looks like you shouldâ??ve left something off and put something else on,â? I heard him, Michael, say. I turned around to see his smile, and nudged him with my elbow. â??I canâ??t see how we forgot,â? Dad said. â??Me either!â? I shrieked. â??If you werenâ??t in such a rush to get out here, it wouldâ??ve never happened,â? Clarence said. It was a tad bit obvious that Michael didnâ??t have to stop at the circulation desk, but he did anyways. â??Maggie, hey, this is my good friend, Clarence,â? he said pointing to my father with his thumb, â??and this is his daughter, Lyric.â? He lightly put his hand on my back, maybe for emphasis. â??Theyâ??re just gonna hang with me and my brothers for the rest of the evening.â? He was in the middle. Maggie, who had a bush of orange candy-curled hair, looked at us and break out in a smile. Then she looked over the desk. â??Should I get her some shoes, also?â? Surely â??nough, I didnâ??t have those on, either. Whatâ??s going on with me today? Am I just plain boy-crazy or what?! â??Lyric,â? my father said as he nudged me. â??Oh, itâ??s fine. Let me see what I can give her.â? As she was walking away, I decided that I didnâ??t have to have shoes. Socks would just do, so I told her as she was walking away. â??Youâ??re sure?â? â??Yep.â? I said smiling. She came back with only socks, too. â??There you go!â? â??Thanks.â? â??No prob.â? I slipped them on, then we walked away from the desk. â??Why?â? Clarence asked. â??I wanted to be able to slide in them.â? I said grinning in a mysterious way. â??Only my daughter! You mustâ??ve been really eager about going to Epic.â? â??Yeah, I mean itâ??s Epic Records. A RECORDING studio. How can I say no?â? â??Just disappoint Michael for once,â? then he looked over to Michael with a smirk. Michael looked like he was the good kid, and not fazed by what my father just had said. â??Weâ??re gonna get on this elevator.â? He tells us. So we follow as he punches in the correct floor. Weâ??re gonna be on the third floor. While we were in the elevator, I was in the middle; Michael to my right this time. I believe that unintentionally, our hands wiped against each other. I cocked my head up to know if he noticed. I believe he did, but HE didnâ??t have to make it obvious that he was looking at me. For me, I had to since I was shorter. But when I did see that I had his focus, I could tell that he looked a little intense in the face. Iâ??m not sure if itâ??s because he was still over-thinking about our teasing today; if it was because my father was a few paces from him; or if he was worried about what his brothers would think. Either way, I could sort of feel the stress in that small area. As we stopped on our right floor and started walking to the studio where Michael works, I grabbed his and my fatherâ??s hand as I swung the two. â??Whatâ??s this for?â? â??I never did anything like this before, Daddy,â? I said with a smile. â??Iâ??m just siked. Thanks for the opportunity, Michael.â? I leaned over and gave him a small hug with BOTH of my arms wrapped around his waist. Once again, he had that closed smile, but of course he was a little rigid. â??No problem, Lyric.â? My heart was beating hard again once we got to the door of the room that his brothers were supposed to be in. â??Well, here we go,â? Clarence said. So Michael lets go of my left hand and slowly twists the knob. Then he uses that same hand to push the door back. I let him take the lead as he, luckily, takes my hand again and leads us in the room. Randy is lying on his tummy on the floor, while Marlon is lightly kicking at Randyâ??s feet. Jackie and Tito are the only two that has headphones on. Theyâ??re bobbing their heads. I guess to the rhythm of a song. â??Bros, hey.â? He raised his left hand to wave, but as I saw that he still had my hand with his right, he subtly let it go, and walked over to Tito and Jackie. Good thing they knew to remove their headsets so they could meet Dad. He walked back over to my father and me. â??Iâ??m sure you guys remember Lyric; but this is her father, Clarence.â? â??Yep, the man who made this beauty.â? That was Randy. He had sat up on his forearms. Being my father, he only laid his hand over his gun and nodded once with a small smile. I tried my best for him to not notice that I had shaken my head in shame. â??I see you have socks on.â? Jackie said, while pointing at my new and FREE socks. They were light-pink around the ankle, the heel, and the area of where your toes go. â??Looks like I forgot my shoes.â? I said sheepishly. â??And your whole wardrobe,â? Marlon said while pointing at my getup. â??I got excited when he said he had to meet yâ??all. I really wanted to go to Epic, today.â? â??Like youâ??ve never been here before,â? Randy said with a smirk. â??She hasnâ??t.â? Michael said. He probably meant it to shock the heck out of Randyâ??which he did; but it was also his quietness that put an extra eeriness in the room. Michael being a quiet person can do that. I know because I get that same uncomfortableness when I have to speak up. â??I got a lot more living to do.â? I said. â??So, letâ??s get to it.â? Michael said. I guess this room was their meeting spot, because they got in their own little bundle as they filed out the room. My father and I followed behind him. I elbowed him a little. â??Why didnâ??t you say more to them?â? I whispered through my teeth. â??Because I had to watch them flirt with my damn daughter.â? He said with vindictiveness. â??Oh God.â? I said as I started sliding my feet across the floor. Naturally the walk to the next room wasnâ??t long, but the halls were long until you had to make a turn. I could tell that Michael was in the lead as he opened the door. Clarence was the last one again, so he closed the door. Michael and his brothers walked in the sound-proof booth. Randy forgot to close the door, so Jackie went back to close it. Michael motioned for us to walk up to the glass, so I did. I knew I looked like a very impressed kid, but I was! Evidently, I had to touch the solid, glass window. My dad shook his head at me as he sat in the black studio recliner. I decided to sit in the one next to him. Michael walked up to the window then. He pointed to this button through the window. I sat there for a second, wondering if he wanted us to press it. After it seemed like he wanted us to, I hurriedly pressed the button. My right ring finger slipped on another, and the sound ended up screeching in the room. They covered their ears. â??Ow, man!â? I saw Marlon mouthed. â??Sorry!â? I said, even though they couldnâ??t hear me. â??Press the button!â? I saw Michael mouthed. He pointed to the button over and over again. Clarence got up and pressed the same button again. The loud screech finally shutted up. â??Sorry.â? I said as I flushed out my ears. â??Okay, here we go. Just start the song over when I point to you, Lyric.â? â??Okay,â? I said a little unsure. Iâ??m glad Daddy took the lead and was capable of starting up the music. We were actually able to hear it! This funky beat came on. â??Hee, hee, hee, heeee!â? Then they did a sharp move after that. BUT, as soon as I heard that, I looked up, and it was MICHAEL who said that! I NEVER heard anything like THAT before! â??My babyâ??s always dancinâ??. It wouldnâ??t be a bad thing, but I donâ??t get no lov-innâ??, and thatâ??s no lie. We spent the night at fris-co-o. At every kind of dis-co. From that night I kissed our love goodbye!â? Then I saw his brothers join in. â??Donâ??t blame it on the sunshine; donâ??t blame it on the moonlight; donâ??t blame it on the good times; blame it on the boogie!â? Then they repeated it again. Michael had a bubbly amount of energy as he got to his next verse. â??That nasty boogie bugs me. But somehow, it has drugged me. Spellbound rhythm gets mee on my feet. Iâ??ve changed my life com-ple-tely. Iâ??ve seen the light-ing leave me! And my baby just canâ??t take her eyes off me-e!â? There was more movement as the brothers did, what seemed like the chorus, again. Then I heard them turn their voices raunchy as they repeated these words four times: â??I just can't. I just can't. I just can't control my feet.â? They went with the chorus one more time. Then I heard this funky guitar solo. By then, I really couldnâ??t deny my movement in the comfy chair. Michael starts with a new verse, then they return to home base with the chorus. Once again, I almost lost it as I heard him give out this scream like he was this older man in a church ceremony: â??Owww - sunshine Whoo - moonlight Yeah - good times Mmmm â?? boogieâ? Throughout the rest of the song, his brothers would finish his sentences. It was when he said â??But yours and that funky, funky boogie all night long â?? good times.â? that I got impressed all over again. The reason is because I saw that he put a lot of movement in his hips. I was intoxicated, and totally succumbed by what I was seeing. My mouth was wide open because, I mean, who know he had THAT in â??em? I saw my father staring at me a little warily, and I laughed a little. I was still watching the brothers in amazement as they went over certain parts, and Michael would point out things that wrong. Jackie would correct him on something, but rarely. I just loved being in their atmosphere and seeing them bond. â??What did ya think?â? Tito asked. â??Amazed,â? I said as I stood up clapping. He reaches out to hug me, and I hug every brother. Michael was the last brother, probably intentionally. When I hugged him, I felt the firmness of his body. We had both arms wrapped around each other, but his grip was still there. My father generally started talking to the others, and finally getting relaxed. The last thing I remember hearing is that Jackie says, â??Man, being a black cop in the â??70â??s sure is bad, man!â? I was just watching them with a smile on my face as they interacted with my father. Thatâ??s when I felt something brush across my left wrist. I looked over since I was surprised, and I saw Michael with a small smile on his face. But as I kept looking, I noticed his joy had another meaning to it. As he pulled me back to him, he said this in my ear, â??If you wanna get in trouble with me, then walk back here with me.â? I squinted, but with a shy smile. He had his bottom lip stuck under his top teeth, but I could tell that lust wasnâ??t the EXACT thing on his mind. â??Show me the way to go,â? I said, answering his question. So he just walks us backwards to the wall next to the exit, which the Jacksons and my dad were standing by. â??So watâ??cha wanna talk about?â? I asked him. I was to his left. â??I saw you staring at my pelvic movements.â? He said. At first he was looking down until he said that. I immediately looked down because I knew my cheeks would start to sizzle, and my WHOLE body would get warm, so I looked down. Then I started giggling. Then I laid my head on his shoulder while laughing harderâ??mostly out of embarrassment; some because it was genuinely funny; but also because thatâ??s my way of getting out of awkward moments. â??Iâ??m sorry,â? I said as I was starting to cough from my violent laughter. â??Donâ??t I suppose to be the one smiling right now?â? he said as he laughed a little. His laugh compared to mine was nothing, so it wasnâ??t noticeable. â??I bet you were when you saw me staring at IT.â? And yeah, I said â??itâ? with emphasis. I decided to to get his attention. â??What IT?â? â??IT.â? I said again. â??Like?â? â??Like your pelvis!â? I said. For Your Information: Pelvic and pelvis is about the same thing. But if Iâ??m wrong, donâ??t quote Lyric Swan on it! I looked up and saw Randy looking at Michael. I saw Michael stood up straight and stopped smiling. â??Whatâ??s going on?â? I asked him. â??Shush.â? He said, as he took my arm to stop me. So I looked back to Randy. Eventually he looked back at my father, but I still couldnâ??t believe his disgusting look at Michael. â??What was that all about?â? I asked again. He only eased his way off the wall, so I was left there trying to figure out if I did something wrong. Guess I didnâ??t acknowledge Randy the way I shouldâ??ve! I guess the blame is all on me now. :( :( :( :( :( I REALLY hope you guys enjoyed. I know, such a long part! :) Next part should be up A-SAP. Thanx for Reading! {_Aariyan.)
