(Michael) Didn't you hear about Mrs. Donaldson's death ? ( Looking at me curiously)

This sent chills down my body.

(Me) No . Tell me .

(Michael) (Takes a deep breath ) One night, Bear woke up Mom and Me, barking like he'd gone crazy or something. We both kept hoping he'd shut up so we could go back to sleep, but he didn't stop. Finally, Mom went downstairs. I followed her. Bear was at our back door. Making a terrible fuss. Mrs. Donaldson never let him out unless he was on the leash. Not only that. His head was bleeding. Like somone had whacked him hard enough to kill and ordinary dog. Mom and I knew something was wrong. You know those weird feelings.

(Me) Yea.. like in a movie, when the music gets scary and you can tell something will happen..

(Michael) Exactly. Mom told me to stay inside while she goes and checks on Mrs. Donaldson.The back door was wide open and the kitchen was a wreck. Drawers were emptied. Furniture turned over. Bear went down the stairs whining and crying. And Mom followed him. Mrs. Donaldson was lying on the floor. Dead.

(Me) Maybe she fell down or something. She was old right ?

(Michael) Yea.. but, the police said it was a murder. Someone killed her.

(Me) (Weak Smile) Really ?

(Michael) Yes.. Now I really have to go. See you later.

(Me) Nice meeting you. (Going inside)
