Tough Love Part 13; Part 3
Hello everyone. Well, letâ??s get to it, shall we? â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦. After a few minutes of gathering my cool, I wiped my face for the final time, and stood up. Michael stood up as well. I didnâ??t know what was on his agenda. He just squatted down like he wanted to give me a piggy back ride. I knew because he looked at me with a smirk. I returned the smile with a soft grin. But when he turned back around, I gave his tush a little nudge with my foot, and ran off, but this time in a teasing, taunting way. Me running off had nothing to do with being sad. Michael looked up with a surprised expression. His eyes were literally big and his grin turned into a smile full of energy. He bit his lip and came after me. â??Oh no,â? I squealed. Michael came after me, â??Oh yes!â? I started running like a dog was chasing me down. By now, I knew how fast he was. When I saw him getting nearer, miraculously, I turned around, facing him. I knew he wasnâ??t expecting that from me. Doing that bought me enough time to start running the other way again. â??Grr,â? I heard him growl. â??Grr,â? I said, running backwards, all of a sudden. After a few minutes of running, I could tell his progression was getting better. I couldnâ??t run anymore. It was still a surprise when he caught up with me, and wrapped his arms around me again. â??Tag!â? After we stopped poking each other, we sat down again. I lay down and started kicking my legs up to the sky as if I was a baby. Michael looked at me with a squint in his eyes, and just watched me. He shook his head then laid down beside me on his right side. â??Youâ??re out of this world, Lyric.â? â??You donâ??t even belong to this galaxy, Michael,â? I responded with a laugh. â??I guess I donâ??t,â? he said with a sigh. â??Whatâ??s wrong?â? He stood up abruptly, and held his hands out to me. This time, I didnâ??t ask any questions. I took a hold of both of his hands, and he helped me up. He had a hold of my right hand, this time. It didnâ??t take me long to notice something was deeply on Michaelâ??s conscious. I felt like a stranger was holding my hand. This Michael isnâ??t the Michael Iâ??m still learning to know. This Michael seemed to be a bit foreign to me, if that makes any sense to you. â??Lyric, Iâ??ve known you for a week as of today. I must say Iâ??m drained,â? Michael said with a small smile. I thought over the week since I met him. I remembered how I ran from him last Saturday, and how I told him what happened to me. I thought of the rebelling magazine, which is in my pajama drawer. I thought of that Cooper guy, and how Michael held me when we were in that bathroom. Then I remembered about what just happened. Thatâ??s when I realized I put Michael through so much in just a week! Well, I put a lot on him for five days. I stopped in my tracks. I held both of our hands and looked at him dead-on. â??Michael, you may NEVER forgive me. You probably already made your judgments about me. But I gotta tell you, Iâ??m really a good person.â? â??I want to see that.â? When he said that, I knew he meant it. He looked at me just as I was looking at him. He held my right hand again and started walking again. â??Lyric, do you truly despise me? I felt I have did nothing but try and help you. Iâ??ve hugged you when you needed it. Iâ??ve told you things. I even had a few intimate conversations with you. I donâ??t know if you take me seriously or not. â??Youâ??re always putting some distance between us. What is there to fear about me?â? â??I donâ??t know.â? â??You do. You have to. God didnâ??t put you on this earth with no knowledge. You know, but youâ??re not telling me.â? â??Michaelâ?¦if I get involved with a guy, my life wonâ??t be the way it is now. I would become the second priority in life.â? â??So, you are higher than a lot of my personal priorities.â? â??Youâ??re my nanny, my guardian. What do you expect?â? â??Iâ??m not getting paid, though.â? â??Huh,â? I said, looking at him for the first time. â??Me living in your home isnâ??t for financial gain.â? â??Did you use the nanny excuse to get closer to me?â? â??Lyric, you just donâ??t understand. Iâ??m not sneaky like that. I could not look your father in the eye, and know that I was on some mission to have his daughterâ??s drawls in my possession in a month. Or to get any money. â??Lyric, our agreement was to have me around because you really needed a positive influence. â??It was never to get you and me together. â??And, another thing, he told me you needed someone around. The six months youâ??ve been here, I really wish I got a chance to bump into you. Maybe you wouldnâ??t be as stiff if I didnâ??t know who youâ??re father was.â? â??You wouldâ??ve seen the worse in me.â? â??I donâ??t know what can top your tantrums or running away.â? I didnâ??t know what else to say. He gave this expression like he gave up a lot of faith in me. He went closer to the water. When I went down there, I saw him roll his pant legs up, and let his feet play in the water. I took my shoes off too, and did the same. â??Lyric, let me be your friend. You may never think of me more or less. I just want to be in your presence. Forget about the fame and fortune. Iâ??ll protect you. Maybe Iâ??m too much of a gentleman for you. I just believe I have what youâ??re looking for. And thatâ??sâ??.â? â??Michael, youâ??re perfect. Besides my dad, I really admire you.â? â??Thank you. Thank you very much. But letâ??s be special friends. If the only way I can be intimate with you, let it be through communication.â? By now, my left arm was wrapped around his right. â??Michael,â? I laughed a little, â??you just donâ??t know how intimate I can get.â? â??The more intimate, the better.â? I looked at him with astonishment. â??Iâ??m a young man with thoughts on my mind, too.â? â??Why do you stick around me so much?â? â??I was always told things I wanted never came to me easy.â? â??So, whatâ??s the thing you want now?â? â??Well,â? he sighed, â??if I get the thing I want, a lot more is awaiting me.â? â??You still havenâ??t answered my question.â? He looked over at me, and then bowed his head. I felt the need to, so I got a hold of both of his hands. I kissed both of them. He looked at me, then his hands, then at me again. I hugged his neck. â??But you have a boyfriend, Lyric.â? â??No I donâ??t.â? â??Yes you do. I saw you hugging that guy on the porch on Tuesday. The same night you played jealous around your friends.â? â??Dawg, you know more than you let on.â? â??Iâ??m quiet sometimes, but Iâ??m also attentive.â? â??Youâ??re right about my friends, but that boy isnâ??t my boyfriend. He liked me, but I told him no.â? â??I guess my theory about turning a guy down was true.â? â??I told him no because I wasnâ??t sure about my feelings. Not only because of my past, but because I had a feeling I couldnâ??t shake.â? â??Was that Ian Russell?â? â??Nope.â? â??What is his name?â? â??Not telling you, Michael.â? I got up and started playing in the water a little. â??Come on, tell me something. His initials?â? â??Why does it matter to you? Are you going to hunt him down?â? â??No, I just really wanna know.â? â??Know what, your competition,â? I teased. â??Just tell me his initials,â? he said with his hands on his hips. â??D and C.â? â??D.C.?â? â??Yeah, thatâ??s really his initials.â? â??Okay. Did yâ??all kiss?â? â??Michael!â? I said. I started splashing him. Once I sat back on the ground beside him, I started talking about something we hadnâ??t discussed in details, yet. â??Where do you go in the mornings? You must wake up pretty early in the mornings.â? â??I go to my own house and I my brothers rehearse with me.â? â??Oh,â? I should have known that! â??I just wanted to know.â? â??Thatâ??s okay,â? he said smiling. When we decided to get up, we jogged up the heel with our arms intertwined again. Michael started singing â??Weâ??re Off to See the Wizardâ?. â??Lay down,â? Michael said. â??Why?â? â??Just lay for me.â? So I did. There was a piece of hair that was flying in my face. When I moved it behind my ear, Michael told me to get it from behind me ear. â??Now thatâ??s magic,â? he whispered. â??Iâ??ll be back.â? When he got back, he had his sketch pad open and started speed-sketching me at first. â??No, stay just like that. Keep that smile and your eyes looking off to the right for me.â? â??My mouth is going to be sore.â? â??And donâ??t forget to keep inhaling every so often.â? â??Michael!â? â??Stay still and Iâ??ll get you some spaghetti.â? â??You canâ??t bribe me.â? â??Iâ??m not bribing you. Iâ??m sweet-talking you, my dear. If it makes you happy, Iâ??ll join you, too.â? I groaned, rolled my eyes, and returned to my pose. When he was done, he showed it to me. â??Oh, donâ??t let me forget my signature and the date.â? He signed his name in his trademark way. He had the long â??M, L, J, and Kâ?. Under that, he put the copyright symbol then he put the date: 9/29/78. â??Wait, the twenty-ninth,â? I said, looking at the sketch. â??Yeah. What about it?â? â??Michael, youâ??ve been twenty for a month!â? â??I surely have. I didnâ??t know you knew my birthday,â? after a second, he added on to what he said, â??I guess YOU know more than you let on.â? â??Or Iâ??ve seen when you were on interviews and the interviewers asked you when was your birthday.â? â??What about my age?â? â??Same thing,â? â??Or youâ??ve read magazines.â? I only shrugged. â??Are you ready to go?â? â??Yeah. Wait, do I look bad?â? â??Youâ??re glowing.â? â??Thanks for the nice comment, but I mean where I fell in the water, what about that?â? â??Wait a sec,â? he said. He ripped out a second page from his sketch pad. Then he ran down to the water. When he came back, most of the empty page was soaked from the water. He wringed it out a little, then he started rubbing the paper against my knees, which still had mud on them. Then Michael folded down the paper and rubbed my face with the water. When he finished, I said, â??Really, what was the point of that?â? â??I wanted an excuse to touch your face,â? he said, then smiled. Once I got my sketch pad and chalk from the ground, we got in the car. It was around four oâ??clock. After sometime without talking, I noticed we werenâ??t heading home. Well, to MY home, I meant. â??Where are we going?â? â??I was actually serious about getting some spaghetti. Maybe this is a way to give me a late happy birthday gift.â? â??You didnâ??t know me then. Plus youâ??re a Jehovahâ??s.â? â??I thank the Lord that I know you now, and being a Jehovah hasnâ??t stopped me from accepting gifts.â? â??Enough said,â? I said agreeing. â??And, I didnâ??t get that mud off your knees for nothing,â? he looked over at me and grinned. I shook my head, but with a smile. â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦â?¦. What a handful! I really hope you guys like. Maybe I should watch â??Lady and the Trampâ? to get ideas. Anyways, I hope you guys really got into this part. And yes, theyâ??ll be a part 4 to part 13, but after that, it should be a part 14. I was reading previous parts of this story, and I noticed how Lyric hasnâ??t had much improvement, so I really had to interfere with the plot. Vote up, too!
